Work Onsite: Day One
This is it. Finally, I have decided to go back to work onsite.
In one of my previous posts, I talked about planning to return to work in the office. This is because of a lack of internet connection during the time that I need it the most.
I have already mentioned in some of my posts about the pros and cons of WFH and WOS setup in my own experience so I need not have to reiterate myself.
So, today’s post is just about sharing some happenings during my first day of working back onsite.
The management is not really urging employees with work from home set up to go back to working in the office. It is my own free will to go back. I think it is quite safe now outside as I observe it despite the news about possible COVID surge in the next two weeks.
But before I have to enter the office, I have to undergo the Antigen test. Fortunately, the result was negative, which I am confident that I am healthy enough with no signs or symptoms.
And now here I am sitting in my cubicle again after two years.
Nothing changed except that there are glass barriers installed in every row or cubicle. The distance of every PC station is according to health protocol.
As you can see it was like I was the only one in my station because the lights were turned off. My schedule is during the day and associates are at night so mostly I am alone in my place until my teammate arrives at the 12PM schedule. But then again since I have shifts during weekends so it’s going to be deafening silence again while I work during Saturdays and Sundays. I am used to working in a very quiet place and the noises I hear are the sudden sound of typing from keyboards in the distant station even though there are no CSRs on duty.
A lot of new employees in the HR and other support departments and those old employees don’t seem to recognize me because I have grown my hair long. I remember when I was in a teenage band I always had long hair. I just find it fun having long hair again.
So far my first day working onsite was successful. I don’t feel anything unusual. It’s just that I feel my head is kind of heavy. I think it’s just normal as my body is trying to adjust to the new working environment again unlike in our home where there is no air conditioning system.
Anyway I have nothing much to share aside from this. I just did a little writing today since I was inactive for the last two days. Yes, since I started working onsite I will be less active here because of more time outside. But I don’t mean that I will stop writing.
So that’s all for now, I think my next post will be during my rest day. I hope you have a great Monday.
What is your current working status? Still work from home or started working onsite like me?
Yup, still working at home for I don't like to hear the sound of typing keyboards where there is no human soul doing it lol! I like how you described the silence you get in your work environment though. I prefer working alone and without so much noise.
