What is The Indiana Project?

The Indiana Project started in secret in a small facility outside Portland, Indiana. It consists of a small group of scientists. Soon it expands which include several hundred workers and only few know about the project's true objective.

Its main objective is to produce a machine that is capable of traveling through and altering time.

On August 2, 1939, Physicists Leo Szilard and Albert Einstein, concerned by Nazi Germany's research into nuclear weapons, send a letter to American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The letter contains a warning to President Roosevelt regarding the Nazi nuclear Program. Szilard and Einstein urge the President to create their own program to counter the threat from Germany.

After one month Nazi Germany invaded Poland and lunch war into Europe. When America entered the war 1n 1942, the research about the program began. However during that time Adolph Hitler already diverted his attention beyond nuclear fusion.

In July of 1942, Einstein wrote another letter to the President. Einstein sources in Germany made him aware that the Nazis were experimenting with time and space manipulation. Einstein was sure that the Nazi will succeed in this project. Considering it was like a threat bigger than the atomic bomb.

After receiving the letter, the President met Einstein in secret. President Roosevelt established the research code named “The Indiana Project”

Washington spent millions of dollars for the project but the Pentagon was not happy due to a lack of tangible results.

In 1944 Germany surrendered. The Pentagon couldn’t see any reason to continue with the Indiana Project. Some supporters of the project felt that the funds could be used in invading Japan.

On August 6, 1945 the United States dropped  an atomic bomb in the city of Hiroshima Japan. The Japanese refused to surrender until the United States dropped another bomb in Nagasaki three days later. On August 14 of the same year, Japan surrendered which was the end of the second world war.

After the second world war many government projects of the US government have been shut down. The Indiana Project managed to survive because of its supporters from the Pentagon. However the budget for the project has been cut. Many scientists and researchers leave for other employment opportunities.

It was only in the 1960s that The Indiana Project was forgotten because of space expeditions. NASA spent billions to compete with the Russians on the moon mission.

When the space race was going on, NASA dominated everything which includes the Indiana Project. But with the space race over in the early 70s and due to the financial assistance of the United States to France with the Vietnam war, the Indiana Project ended.
