Setting Up Our Preferences Can Sometimes Tedious

There is no product that perfectly suits all consumers.

Anybody here has no TV set at home, put your hands in the air. No one I presume.

When television was invented, it instantly became a part of every home's past time. I remember the first black and white TV my father had purchased. Although it was second hand, it was a genuine Panasonic device.

Technology is constantly innovating until the flat screen TV revolutionizes the evolution of television.

Every electronic device has its own settings and along with this setting is the customization. The setting we want for our preferences.

When you are watching movies with your Smart or Android TV, do you notice the difference between films? There are films that are too dark that we have to adjust the brightness or sometimes the filmmakers have added filtering that you might not like.

If you are not so concerned about this it doesn’t matter but today’s post I will share with you some information about your TV viewing preferences.

Personalization and Customization

On your TVs menus setting, look for the preset mode. It might be called picture mode. You will see options like standard, vivid and games. The first two are good for movies and games but vivid is going to make your color setting a little crazy. But actually you should try all those settings just like adding instagram filters to your television. Everybody has their favorite looks calibrated, sometimes called cinema or calibrated dark. Unless you are watching pirated movies (Camrip), these settings won’t work no matter how hard you try to adjust the brightness, contrast and everything.

Most TVs let you adjust more granular settings like brightness, contrast, and hue. Brightness is more obvious. Contrast is just about between bright and dim parts of the screen. Hue or tint affects the levels of pink and green on the screen. Color or warm is similar but brings more yellows producing a warmer picture as for blue producing a cooler picture. But if you think you have scrambled up the color setting of your TV. You always have the option to revert it to factory setting to start all over.

If you want more high definition settings you might want to turn on high-dynamic range (HDR) or adjust the display's gamma setting. If your TV supports HDR you can turn it on but that setting is hard to look at. Some TV manufacturers do not include it in TV manuals for some reasons.  But you might find it in the about input sections like High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) enhancement.

If you feel like you find hard seeing details in the shadows just turn down the gamma settings. But once again you can always undo these changes by reverting back to its default settings.

Default setting is more convenient

Customizing our electronic devices has a good advantage because it can make things easier for us. Our Smartphone has settings too that we can do some personalization. The sound preference, themes and shortcuts are just a few things we can modify for our own ease of usage.

When I first owned a Nokia 3G, I began customizing my phone. You know, me and my friends back then used to do some tricks with Nokia phones. However there was a time that I no longer enjoyed customizing my phone. You know when you have installed too many apps in your phone, it will become slow in performance due to lack of memory space. Imagine installing several types of browser, IM apps like Nimbuzz or Mig33 and app editing tools in Nokia N70. Just like making my phone a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). So I am always having a corrupted SD card due to overloaded files. Then I ended up hard setting my phone. Take note that Nokia hard reset is different from just factory reset. With hard reset you will have to press the power button, call button, asterisk key and number three key simultaneously.  That was kind of tedious because if you miss to press them all at once it will not reset.

So when I had my first android phone I never made major customization with my phone. Because when everything messes up, I will end up resetting it and installing apps again. But there is already a back up option for this. You know, like creating a backup before you have to restore the phone to its original settings. Then you just have to load the backup file to your newly restored phone. You can even load the backup file to any Smartphone, even brand new phone.

So it turns out to me that the default setting is always best to resort to. Be it with TV sets or Smartphones. Unless you have problems with colors and sound then it is always good to set changes according to your preferences.

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

I sometimes customize my phone but only for the settings or feature I frequently used like subtitles, font size and stuff like that.

yes, me too and speaking of font size, i like it smaller because you know sometimes when you have msg and need urgent reply, then you are in a public utility vehicle, the passenger next to you would sometimes stare at your phone and read. that's annoying 😬😁

That's a honest fact! It's really annoying then that person will just stare until he finishes to read the whole message. And sometimes reading your messages is not enough, they will look to your passwords as well.

Same with me. I don't like to complicate things - and to be honest, default settings is great for a specific gadget. I want mine to be as simple as possible while it caters my needs. Might raise my hand though because we don't have a TV set at home hehe
