Although Ronnie is a bit of a foolish kid, he has a talent. He is also not left out of class. In fact he was always with special mention even though he was not on the list of honors.
Ronnie also wants to participate in extracurricular activities at their school. However he can't because the teacher pays more attention to those children who are not reprimanded as opposed to Ronnie.
Ronnie was jealous of his classmates that the teachers included in the contests, or that the teacher would include for a jamboree. Because most of Ronnie's classmates belong to a middle class family.
When Ronnie was in sixth grade, their school had a camping trip in the other district. It was held for two days and one night.
“Mom! Mom! ” Ronnie shouted as he came home from school.
“Our school will have a camp, all the boy scouts can come. I will join Mom. ” Ronnie excitedly told the news to his Mom while changing clothes.
"You can't come, son." Bella answered emphatically while preparing the dinner.
“All right Mom, please allow me. It's just close to us. Besides, I haven't been to even one such campsite. It’s free of charge mom ” Ronnie explained to the mother.
“Okay fine, I'll let you go. But promise me you will not do anything silly there.” Bella replied to her son.
“Yeeeyyyy! Yes, yes, no. ” Ronnie exclaimed.
Friday after class the boy scouts marched with Ronnie towards the camp site. Wearing the boy scout uniform worn by his brother James, he happily marches with his classmates and other boy scouts in the lower grades. He was in front, carrying the flag of their team and waving it arrogantly.
Arriving at the campsite, they immediately pitched the tent. He then took his classmates around the campsite to check out the other team.
That night Ronnie felt worse and suddenly developed a fever. He was left inside their tent while the comrades watched the program and camp fire burning.
The weather did not go with them. Suddenly heavy rain fell. Boy scouts and teachers run into the classroom.
Ronnie was inside their tent, alone, sound asleep and with a very high fever.
Bella thought of visiting their child at the campsite. She wanted to know what the child's condition was, apart from the bad weather, she was also a little worried.
“Charlie, let's go see our son. I was worried about that boy. ” Bella said as she folded the washed clothes.
Charlie complied immediately. The couple rode a motorcycle and went to the campsite.
Arriving there, the couple asked the whereabouts of son Ronnie.
"Their tent is at the back of that classroom." Guided by a person they asked.
The couple immediately found the place. A small tent and almost floating in the water due to the heavy rain for a couple of hours. Bella approached the tent and peeked to see if anyone was inside. She saw the child sleeping. She approached it to wake up and when she put her hand on son's cheek she was surprised.
"Oh My God!" Bella exclaimed.
"Charlie come here, Ronnie has a fever." Charlie hurried inside the small tent and picked up the child. The couple put Ronnie on their motorcycle and took him home.
Arriving home, Bella immediately wiped her son with wet cloth.
“What happened to you son. Why do you suddenly have a fever? ” She asked her son while changing his clothes.
Ronnie, on the other hand, could not speak because his whole body was cold, he was shaking and just moaning. Maybe it's because of the high fever. Bella knew how to take care of their children. She never took Ronnie to the doctor. Instead she just made him drink over the counter medicine and rubbed menthol vapor over his body and head while gently massaging.
The next morning Ronnie was fine. His father took him to the campsite again but the camping was over when they arrived. He no longer witnessed the good things that happened. That would have been the first time he had been with a boy scout camping.
