Hey! I’m still here.

Did you miss me? Of course not.

Who cares?  (laughs)

I think this is the longest interval that I have not posted.

My last post was four days ago in which I talked about minor health issues. Perhaps some of you might think of something serious because I have not posted since then.

The reason for my inactivity for the last couple days was that I was assisting my 9th grade son with their research project.

He has been burning eyebrows for the last couple of weeks just to meet the deadline of their thesis.

So, today's post I will share with you my participation with his project.

If you are a parent too like me, perhaps you can relate to this because you know every parent is supportive of their kids when it comes to their education.

My son told me that they needed to bind their research paper and his group mates don’t have an idea of how and where it should be done.

I told my son that he forgot that I was once working in a printing press for thirteen years. Obviously I know about book binding. Then I told him to tell his group mates that I should be the one to bind their research paper of about 100 pages with 8 and ½ by 11 paper size.

Since I have a Canon printer at home I can do the printing easily and just buy some book binding materials in the nearest office warehouse.

While I was printing, the printer had an issue with the cartridge so I needed to fix it first. But then accidentally the ink spilled and got stained on my hands.

I felt nostalgic when I saw my finger nails filled with ink. I remember back in the days when my fingers would always looked like this and sometimes have cracks on it because of prolonged exposure to inks and printing chemicals.

Moving on, I glued the printed pages and drilled holes for the spine and stitched.

After stitching, I added glue again and let it dry. Then cut the sizes of the cheap board for front and back cover and the spine. I also cut the book cover and proceeded with cover making.

If you are not used to making this thing, you will find difficulty in making the cover. The trick is simple. You just have to make sure that the glue is evenly applied on the board. You have to learn to apply enough glue because you may end up with a spoiled cover and do it again.

I have not done this in the last six years. So far I have made it almost perfect by utilizing my tools for my DIY projects. You know you have to be resourceful when it comes to making projects like this that comes once in a while.

Somehow I have managed to finish the book binding of my son's research paper and below is the finished product.

Book binding is also fun and you can make money out of it. By the way, I am now accepting book binding services. Just DM me on twitter for inquiries (jokes, laughs).

Seriously, the presidential election in the PH is getting near. If you know some politicians who want to print for their campaign materials. I can rely you to my old employer. I have once printed campaign materials back then when I was an offset operator.

If you like my skills and my post as well, feel free to subscribe if you are new here. You can also leave a comment for some interaction.

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

It's reminds me my college thesis paper sir haha. I spend 3 thousand pesos just for 6 copies that I printed for good. Is really that expensive to bind a research book? Haha

i am not sure of how much will it cost for thesis book binding these days. yours was kind of costly but if that was the pricing in your place i guess it is what it was.

the pricing will depend on whether you want it hard bound or soft bound, you will to consider too the number of pages, i mean the thicknees of your research book.

as for my DIY book binding it only cost me less than 200 pesos because i already have the main materials needed.
