Can You Imagine a World With No Internet?

In the next seven years, a solar storm will hit the earth and when it happens technology will suffer.

Can you live a day or two without using a cell phone or computer? What do you think will happen if there is no internet connection?

Three months ago I posted about Mercury Retrograde which explains about The Reason For Internet Failure And Miscommunication.

But what if the internet connection is lost can you imagine a world without the internet?

We all have seen the effects of natural disasters which include environmental storms in the past years.

However there is the most devastating storm that will hit the earth. An enormous solar storm will eventually occur and would wipe out all the technologies around the globe.

The Internet would stop working with no internet connection.

Coronal Mass Ejection (CME)

The sun is releasing bubbles of gas and magnetic fields into space. But don’t you worry, most CMEs don't hit the earth or have been weakened by the time it reaches our beautiful home planet.

The last great CME that hit our planet was almost 150 years ago. During those times, the telegraph was at least the most advanced communication that had been greatly affected by the solar storm.

The Telegraph system failed across the globe and caught on fire. Operators even got shocked due to the strong electrical surge.

These days we are more dependent on technology.

If the CME that occurred in 1859 were to strike earth today, our electrical grids would be toasted. The internet would be dead. Global banking and ATMs would be offline. Gas pumps and traffic lights would stop working. GPS would be failing because satellites will be affected.

Imagine the technology we are using every day. Think of living without it for a week or a month. It would surely be total chaos.

Imagine the damage it caused to every nation. There would be a massive collapse in the economy. Just think of how much damage the pandemic had caused. It will be more than you’ll ever think.

Learn From This

When I was a sixth grader, our science teacher told us to never watch TV when it rains, particularly if there are lightning strikes. Even if the TV is turned off we should unplug it and disable the antenna connection. Unfortunately my parents can’t afford to own a TV set during that time so I never worry (laughs).

Seriously, the reason for doing so is that we might be experiencing risk of electrical shock and or our TV set could fry due to lightning.

When lightning happens to strike an electrical post, the high voltage will go directly to all lines connected to that post. Thus burning our appliances that are not unplugged.

In the same manner, we should also disable antenna connection on our TV set when lightning occurs. There is also a chance that lightning would strike outdoor home TV antennas.

I don’t understand much of what my grade school teacher was telling us but eventually I learned all about this when I took up electronics technology back in college.

A terrible experience happened to our neighbor when his TVs main board was fried while watching TV during heavy rainfall. His outdoor TV antenna was struck by lightning. Good thing no serious injury happened to them, only thier TV.

What if it was a CME? How will you prepare for this phenomenon?

You should think of backing up your computer now!

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

I sync my phone and laptop just in case. I had a terrible experience of losing a drive full of files and memories that's why every now and then, I make sure to sync everything. My mom used to tell us to unplug everything as well whenever there's lightning. It's a must here at home because my parents always say, we don't have extra money to buy those appliances if ever they got broken 😂

thats a wise decision. 👍

i was born with people around me having technical skills so when it comes to stuff like machines and electricity, i am fully aware of its potential and dangers as well. good thing you are obidient with your mom. you know mothers are like broken records but they are never wrong. 😁

Back the I used to live without internet and phones because we're so poor and cannot afford to buy one. But later on, in God's grace we're able to have phones and net now.

i once live in a world with no internet and socialisation back then was far from what it is today. you know like the past is real and the future is virtual.

but imagining that technology today will be paralysed it would be devastating.

Maybe sometimes, like going back to the era where no handphone, no such thing as a new technology today where we could only play hide and seek, get tired and have a nice sleep. hahaha I missed those days.

yes nothing can compare the happiness of kids back then when they can just play outside, run, climb up hill and trees, no social media. that was priceless.
