Chapter 9

Tom's Trauma

Evan and Tom started eating Icecream seated on a bench in the park . Evan casually asked Tom

"How is Natalie as a mom?"

Tom replied without missing a beat

"She’s pretty cool, she just has to do everything with me now so I have to do it myself."

Evan laughed slightly before taking a bite of his ice cream. They sat quietly for a while, listening to the chirp . It was peaceful, . The sun shined brightly, the trees rustled slightly in the wind and the sky was blue, not a cloud in sight.

Tom looked over at Evan as he saw his phone flash with Mom Written acrossed the screen.

"Hey your mom is calling i think."

As Evan saw it and immediately picked it up

"Hey Mom ,How you doing? Oh im good With a little friend ,I will be coming home on Monday mom , Can you do me a favor pack my essentials some clothes for office pair of socks , tooth brush and stuff? Yes that will be wonderful mom . Honestly idk what i would do with out you Mom you're a life saviour .Thank you Love you to the moon and back Bye "

said Evan as he talked to his mom on the phone .

"She loves you alot doesn't she ?" Tom said

"Every mom love's their kids " Said Evan as he saw Tom get lil upset over that comment

Tom had tears in his eyes as he said "Not every mom love's their child" , Tom said as he tried not to cry.

"My real mom hated me she wished i wasn't born at all and that she never had me." Tears were streaming down his face as Evan stared at him. He didn't know how to respond to the words he heard Tom say.

He stood up and walked over to Tom who was crying hysterically. His Hazel eyes filled with unshed tears as he grabbed Evan by his hand.

"I'm sorry about your mom,she was probably a horrible person." Tom let go of Evan's hand and hugged himself

"You don't even know the half of it." Tom sobbed

"She was not the same infront of others with me but when i was alone she would do things that would hurt me . One time she poured boiling water on my hand." Tom showed the burnt scar to Evan

"It was a nightmare."

"I don't want to remember it"

Evan could feel his heart break into pieces seeing his childhood crush like this. He pulled Tom into a hug as tears formed in both their eyes. Neither knew how long they spent sitting on that bench hugging and crying.

They sat there hugging each other and letting their emotions run wild

"Are you ready to go home?" Asked Evan as he gently patted Tom on the back

"Yeah I guess I am." Tom wiped away the last tear from his eye and smiled softly

They both got up and began walking towards Toms home .

Evan was shocked ,Heart wrenched and sad as he couldn't understand why would a mother di this with her own son. He thought about how cruel Tom's mother was as she treated Tom like this .

Once they reached Toms house they went inside and Tom looked at Evan as he spoke

"Sorry i ruined your mood too sometimes its just overwhelming when i think about her "

Evan Patted his head as he told him "Tom , I'm always here if you need a friend .You can trust me like im your big brother "

Tom hugged Evan and asked can we go play games on my playstation?

Evan nodded enthusiastically as he lead them to his basement where he kept his video games. As Evan searched through his collection he noticed that Tom seemed to be looking at a box that caught his attention.

The box was old looking and dusty as well as being covered in stickers and stickers were scattered around the box.
