For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

If I look at all the cool comments my first three episodes of these Midnight Gems Sessions received I am getting some traction. But my "Tag List" still has a lot of room. So if you want to be notified when the next session is released just comment "Tag me".

So last week was a beautiful mess, but a little gloomy. Which is perfectly fine with me. I like it dark and gloomy, especially around midnight. I have no clue where this trip will take us dear reader, but I will try my best to keep it a little light tonight.

Izzy Oram Brown - Mess

Guess opening with songs that are not too perfect is kinda my thing, kicking it off with those gems in the rough will make the rest of our trip only get better. But it was a little beauty with that sweet honey voice and gentle melody. Still, the recording is a bit messy but very charming if you ask me.

Where the audio mixing might have not been perfect in the previous song, this guy got it beyond right. That guitar and voice sound so close that it feels like he´s singing inside my head. Let´s just hope that this 'Belgian Jeff Buckley' sticks around a bit longer than the original because I would love to hear much more.

Tamino - The First Disciple

With me going on about audio quality tonight maybe I should have selected the cd version of this track. But the setting with the candles, just a piano, and a minimal number of strings brings out the true romantic in me reminiscing about something I can never have.

Talking about reminiscing, damn this next song brings back memories of my golden years. I must have played this CD so often that the lasers probably burned through. And this song did something back then, but it does even more nowadays.

K´s Choice - Dad

Where K´s Choice sings about how her dad might have lacked some ability to share his feelings, Ren & Chinchilla take that feeling to a whole other level in Chalk Outlines.

Little by little, bit by bit, we raise ourselves. Scared of being okay on a perfect day, damn this song truly sends shivers down my spine. But as I promised to keep it light let's keep that perfect day feeling a little longer and walk into the sun. Btw don't try that at home kids.

You see Midnight's with me do not always have to be scary, they can be lazy and laid-back with your head above the water, without drowning in this river of gems. Let´s enjoy that wondrous state of mind a little longer.

What the fluff are midnight gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
