Fear is a common thing among all of us. We have multiple fears in us. We may fear about public speaking, fear to interact with others, fear of starting a new venture, fear of getting into a new relationship after a break up, fear of heights and many more like these. You will hardly find anyone who does not have any type of fear though many may boost of so.

Out of these fears some may never affect our mainstream life and some will affect our life directly. If we do not overcome these fears then we will it may affect us professionally or emotionally. Anyways it is good to face the fears and overcome them.

Today I will write about some common ways to overcome your fears.

Accept you have a fear.

It is important that first you accept the fact that you fear a particular thing and have avoided confronting it for so long. This acceptance will open up the way to take steps to remove the fear. Then make a mental point that you want to overcome that fear. This will give you the necessary push to confront it rather than escaping from it. There are many people who have overcome their fear by taking the first step in that direction.

Find the cause of your fear.

The fear may have a root in your past experience. It can be an abusive past relationship which makes you avoid a new one and you believe all men are like this. It can be something that is rooted in your childhood. Parents may be the cause of some fear that lingers on till grown up age. If you were beaten up regularly or kept locked up in room then you will certainly develop fear of these things. So try to find the cause of the fear. It may not always come from your experience but you may just develop it by seeing others fears also.

Tackle your fear

To tackle your fears you may do it yourself or need the help of your friends. But to tackle it you have to revisit those fears again with awareness that you fear them and now you are in the process of overcoming them. You have to be mentally strong and take these fears headlong. It may take time and effort but at the end you will be successful. If you have been in an abusive relationship then you can be cautious about it the next time and make it clear to your partner. Always be strong inside. If you have fear of public speaking, then practice it at home and then try it outside in every opportunity you get, do not shy away from it.

Have positive thoughts.

This will help you gain confidence to tackle your fears. Have faith in yourself. If you have positive thoughts then your mind is programmed to take on fear with confidence. Fear is rooted in the mind so positive thoughts will help expel those fears from the mind. You can also read books on how others overcame their fears and apply them in your life also. This will give you confidence.

Take help

Do not be afraid to take help of people whom you can confide or even from a psychologist. Some timers the fears are so deep rooted that professional help is required. Do not be ashamed of sharing the causes of fear because only when the cause is known then only someone can advise and help you ion overcoming those fears.

Journal your success

Keep a record of steps you are taking in your effort to overcome your fears, and your success, however small it may be. Celebrate your success. This will again give you confidence that you are in the right path. This will also help you identify the wrong steps you took in the process and help you identify the right path. Now you will be clear of the milestones you need to cross before you finally overcome your fear.

If you fear, fear, then fear will get over you but if you decide that now I will get over my fear then you will surely be successful in it.
