For thousands of years there has been talk of Atlantis, a city that according to the Greek Plato is completely real, for which this philosopher told more than 2,000 years ago the story of a rich civilization that sank into the sea, after earthquakes and fires. However, for some people it is completely fiction, but for others it is very real, so they have set out in search of the island, which makes us wonder where is Atlantis?
The existence and location of Atlantis remained relatively quiet until 1882, when a U.S. congressman published a book with reference to Atlantis, claiming that this very place was in fact real. In fact, he mentioned that all known ancient civilization originated in the Neolithic high culture of this place.
Over time, many theories began to emerge with this city, because even the Nazis believed that people of "the purest blood" lived there and that it supposedly sank after being struck by a divine lightning bolt.
Why did they believe this?
For them, the surviving Aryans moved to safer places. Well, it was believed that the Himalayan region was one of those refuges, more than the whole of Tibet, because it was famous for being the "roof of the world".
Now, the scholars and historians of the world considered Atlantis as a parable of Pluto, that is, their argument is supported by the simple fact that it was fiction. However, with the Atlantis story these scholars believed that he was sending a warning to the Greeks about the dangers of political ambitions and the promotion of nobility for personal gain.
Where is Atlantis?
In that philosopher's texts he mentioned that it was north of present-day Africa and more than half of Turkey. So it can be said that it was actually located in the Atlantic Ocean somewhere outside the Strait of Gibraltar. As time went on there was no real base to prove it, as that place was a really big land mass, so if there really was one somewhere underwater in the Atlantic, it would certainly show up on sonar maps of the ocean floor.
Soon after this place was not so well remembered, but it did make noise to many geologists and historians, giving rise to even more theories about it, which stopped for a while. However, a few years ago, exactly in 2016, it awoke again the curiosity of many people, so they decided to experiment, learn and investigate more about this topic after more than 2,000 years.
Well, many studies emerged and mention that the collapse of the volcanic crater into the sea caused a Tsunami and believe that the caldera was not in contact with the sea at the time of collapse, but was flooded later and that it was the large amount of pyroclastic material that flowed quickly into the sea, which created tsunamis locally as huge masses of water moving and destroying everything in its path. So it is said that if there were any remnants of Atlantis, it would undoubtedly be the Azores Islands.
As I mentioned above many say that Atlantis is a fiction, but for others it was real and it is believed that at some point the island will be found, so that we can learn a little more about its history, what really happened and the culture that it has.
