A large blue hole, located about a hundred kilometers from the main coast of Belize, is an underwater hole near the center of the Lighthouse Reef. This giant circle, measuring about three hundred meters in diameter and twenty-five meters in depth, was formed after a series of glacial events, when sea levels were significantly lower than today.
Every year, diving enthusiasts and professionals visit this reef to explore its crystal clear aquatic environment, as well as the different species of tropical fish and marine life that have settled there.
You must know that diving into the Big Blue Hole is not easy, so it is not recommended for the inexperienced. The hole is very dark and attracts divers who want to see ancient stalactites, not the colorful plants and animals that await you in its surroundings.
The hole is also part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve system, which is under UNESCO protection due to its scientific and historical significance. If you have little experience in diving and are ready to leave your comfort zone, the dark depths of this hole are certainly an impressive sight, while the reef that surrounds it is a true wonder of nature.
Until we are given the opportunity to enjoy exploring this, it remains for us to watch pictures and videos from people who have enjoyed the exploration.
I just missed going to beach and having an island hop and see the deep blue see. Hope things will get better soon
