FSSAI is determined to prevent adulteration of mustard oil. It was informed that from now on, no more edible oil can be mixed with mustard oil.
Mustard oil prices have risen recently. The FSSAI feared that unscrupulous traders might mix mustard oil with any other edible oil to control prices. So such guidelines have been issued
Until now, the rule was that up to 20 percent of mustard oil can be mixed with other edible oils. But the rules are changing from now on. From October 1, customers will receive pure mustard oil
The quality of mustard oil has been repeatedly questioned. Many complain that it is sold adulterated with mustard oil. And so FSSAI is in the field to check the quality of mustard oil
The FSSAI collected and tested 50 samples from cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai. Samples were also collected from small towns.
