Cupid is the Roman god of love and the son of the goddess of love Venus. He is depicted as a beautiful figure of a boy armed with a bow and arrow (often with a quiver and spare arrows!). Those arrows are "love wishes", something, really, imaginative and creatively conceived in mythology.

Everyone, something, stings a little, even today, us, mortals, because he knows what can happen to him if he is Cupid's target. This restless boy is, as mythology says, a companion of Venus, the goddess of love and fertility. He is considered the son of Mercury and Venus, or Mercury and Diana, and perhaps Venus of Mars. Before the Romans adopted and renamed him, Cupid was known to the Greeks as Eros, the god of love.

In ancient Rome, beauty and love were represented by Venus. Cupid was her son and helper in love affairs. He always carried arrows with him. At his mother's request, he shot at girls and young men, igniting passion in them. Sometimes, out of banter, he did not shoot at those his mother pointed out to him.

The earthly girl Psyche and Cupid fell in love with each other. That was unacceptable. The son of a goddess and an earthly girl of unearthly beauty together.

Their mother forbade them to meet. But, violating the will of his mother, Cupid married Psyche. The earthly girl could not look at the gods. She couldn't even look at her husband. Once, unable to withstand the ban, Psyche looked at Cupid. She paid for it with her love. She was thrown out of the sky. But there was no happiness on earth for her without thyme. In search of lost love, she wandered into the temple of Venus. Venus gave her various tasks. Psyche did everything. Venus did not calm down.

She was jealous of the girl and came up with the most difficult task. After instructing Psyche to visit the underworld, she wanted her unloved daughter-in-law to take away the beauty of Proserpine. Beauty was to be put in a box. There was one condition. It was impossible to look in the box. Curiosity is a bad feeling. It also ruined the beautiful girl. Violating Venus' ban, the girl died.

Cupid or Eros - it doesn't matter who helped your love. If only he were alive! Love is the best thing that can happen to you one day and, God forbid, forever!
