So for this one, let us talk about **what my ideal date would be.**
When I hear the word "date" I think of a table for two with lovers eating their lovely meal, you know, like the ones we typically see in movies. But that is not my ideal date, it is just the automatic image that would pop up in my mind upon reading that word. My ideal date would either be one of the following:
Beach Date
I love beaches. I love hearing the sound of the waves rushing to and fro. I would love to sit down under a shade of a tree, looking far beyond the horizon while talking to my husband about life and random things about it. I would love to listen to him speak of anything while we munch some snacks. I had this old time notion that the sea holds so many secrets and that it can keep more, so sometimes I love shouting my secrets out to the sea.
Mountain Peak Date
I once had an experience where we climbed to one of the highest peak in my place and the view was breath taking. I remember how grand the feeling was when you stand at a very high place. I felt like a giant. And I would love to have that same setting again as a venue of an ideal date with my husband. It would be a good place to look over the majestic places down below while we feel the cold breeze on our face. A cup of hot choco and a local delicacy called “bibingka would be perfect thing for a date like this.
Star Gazing Date
I think it is very obvious now how I love nature. Yes, I love nature so much because it helps me reconnect with my inner self! It helps me have peace and serenity. Lying down in an open field at night and just looking at the vast sky full of stars would be an excellent date for me. And then of course we will talk about life, dreams and goals while we look at the sky until we grow sleepy.
Movie date
I never knew this could be so much fun because growing up I have never been to a movie house. And so, when my husband brought me to a Ayala Cinema to watch Captain Marvel for the first time, I felt like a child eating ice cream for the very first time. I was elated! (like super duper mega ultra happy!) I was in awe of how big the screen was and how amazing the surround sounds were. Too bad we were never able to repeat it due to the pandemic. But it was one of the best dates I have had. I would love to repeat that date when the pandemic is over. (hopefully crossing my fingers here)
Karaoke Date
In our place there are these places that you can rent out that has a karaoke machine in it where you can sing your heart out. Since me and my husband are music lovers, this is very ideal for the both of us. We tried it and we came out with sore throats due to singing and belting out. We would usually rent a karaoke room for about two hours and it would be enough for us to sing our hearts out.
Street-food Date
Tempura, fishballs, kikiam, squidrolls kwek-kwek, isaw balut, balut penoy and many more. Pinoy street foods are one of my favourites. Going on a date down the street and you just eat and eat and eat while catching up on each other, until your full is also my ideal date. Aside that it is economical; it is also so yummy for me. I understand that for some people with health issues this is not good so I respect a person who doesn’t like street foods. That’s okay, we can still be friends hahaha.
So far, these are my ideals when it comes to dating. I am not into expensive dates, mine is more on the intention and the time that the person is willing to share with me. As the famous, quote by **Dieter F. Uchtdorf** goes, *“Love is spelled T-I-M-E."* When a person loves you, that person will always find time to date you despite his or her busy schedule. Though I have my ideals in what type of date I would love to have, I will still acknowledged the sweet gesture of love, if my husband invites me on a date that is not one of the abovementioned ideals. I have come to realize that when you are married and have child, dating oftentimes mean buying some groceries together. (And it only happens when you got someone to look after the baby, which is very rare if you are living on your own like us) Hahahaha.
What about you? What is your ideal date? Or what are your ideals in life? Come join the fun and write about it!

Hello my beloved family here in read.cash. My friend, Let us welcome my friend @Serayahsnow who is very new in here. Please help me give her a warm welcome . 🤍😊❤️
If you think Parenting is a cakewalk, think again
When I was single, there was a tendency for me to be so quick at saying " how did your parents raised you? " Why are you like that?"
Now that I am a parent I realized how disheartening that statement could be, especially when a parent hears it from people who doesn't know everything. Like the old single me, people are so quick to judge a parent based on a child's behavior. Today I seek to share my perspective on parenting and how demanding and crucial it is.
**Kids are the Best Imitator**
One time, I was cooking in the kitchen and I let my one-year old daughter watch her favorite Cocomelon series so she would sit still and I could do make breakfast. I would glance at her every now and then to make sure she will not fall off from the chair. And as I do so, I noticed that she imitates what she sees in the laptop. She would clap her hands when she sees the characters clapped theirs and I was amazed not just on this single occasion but on countless ones where I have proven that despite her age,she is a great imitator. She would imitate me when I am angry, she would imitate me when I am happy. She would even imitate her Dada when he sings. Drawing from those occasions, I realized that if I am not careful with my actions when she is watching, I may end up teaching her through my acts, things that are not right. From that day on, I tried to be as conscious as possible, knowing that my daughter will be influenced by my actions. Aside from me being careful with my actions and attitudes towards my daughter, I also try to avoid being near with people that may influence my child badly. Though this is something that I may attract criticisms, its totally okay with me if people think I am too much at protecting my child, after all, as they say,"My child, My rules." If I think avoiding people who will be bad influences is helpful for the early development of my child, then I can and will withstand criticism for her sake.
**Saying No, Should mean No**
A parent's heart is so tender when it comes to a child's in pleading. One very tearful eye while pleading over a a sharp toy would send a mom's heart into complete torment. But when Mama says no, it should be no! Why? Because this would create a strong impression on their young minds the rules that they need to stick so that they will stay safe and secure. No parent I think would impose a rule to harm a child. Now, when a child understands that when Mama says no it's because it can harm them, they will build up that foundational knowledge that it is actually out of love why rules are reinforced.
Now, if you think its that easy to say no yo your baby with tears running down their cheeks. Think again.
**One wrong thing your child does in public makes you a bad parent**.
Hahahaha. This by far is the one that I am so giddy about. I remember when I was a child, and by the way I am a child that won't sit still. I love playing so much that sometimes its used against me. Like, people made me think I am a bad kid for playing a lot. Hahaha . But yeah, it was like that, and when I tend to do things that I never learned from my mama, like when I punched a kid who made fun of my hair, people took that as something that my mother taught me even though she didn't. You see, people are so quick to think that everything a child knows came from their mommas or papas. Ah-uh, no. The critiques always forget that we got neighbors and peers whom are also very influential. And I think that's where I learned how to punch a guy who badmouths girls. Hahahaha. Sorry. I didn't mean to hurt him. And so, now that I am parent, I realized how hurtful it is to hear someone tell my husband that we should train our daughter right by doing this and this and that... Man, my baby is just a year old. She is not a prodigy to learn the do's and don'ts of a society in her first years. But seriously, it hurt me.
Now, back to the first sentence at the beginning of this article, if you think parenting is a cakewalk, **think again.** Because, the only way for you to see the trials and triumphs of parenting is by becoming one.
If you are single and you are like the old me who was so quick to criticize a parent through a child's misbehaviour, please stop.. if you are a parent and you are frustrated in raising your child right, be kind to yourself, no one is perfect in parenting but those who try and give their best, always end up being the best parent! Now, if you are that parent who loves looking at their neighbour's way of child rearing, waiting for a chance to find a loophole, I have a two-word sermon for you- STOP IT.
All words are from my cabin of thoughts and words.

Foodies
Hey hey, before I start, just wanna ask, have you guys read the article of @JonicaBradley about Food? Well, if you haven't you must. Click here. She inspired me to write this one. https://read.cash/@JonicaBradley/writing-prompt-20-food-46d50a1e
So, today I will be taking a trip down memory lane as I share with you some home-cooked foodies that I love so much! Let us begin!
**PANCIT**
There are a ton of varieties of pancit but the one that I grew up with is pancit bihon and pansit sinabaw. I remember one memorable birthday that I had when I was a kid was when mama and papa bought some egg noodles and cooked pancit on my birthday. That was so special for me because most of the time we don’t really celebrate birthdays back then. Having pancit on my birthday is a big thing for me, though it was just topped with hotdogs, it was such a hearty meal for me.
**SRAMBLED EGG**
Scrambled eggs are very common but my mama’s scrambled eggs are soooo sooo good that even my husband agrees that she makes the best scrambled egg in town. One time when we visited my parents, my husband asked mama, how does she make goo scrambled eggs. He asked,” Ma, what is your secret why this (pointing to the scrambled egg on his plate) so good?” I laughed while I was listening to their conversation.
**VEGETABLE SOUP**
In our province we call it “utan”. It is a native dish where you mix different kind of veggies in a pot. Some of the vegetables are taro, squash, eggplant, lady’s finger, moringa leaves, spinach add a bit of ginger and a piece of fish and you will surely ask for another plate of rice. Back in the day, Sometimes papa would add coconut milk to it and its gonna be super yummy!
**TARO STALK IN COCO MILK**
Another dish that my papa is so good at is, his Taro Stalks in Coco Milk. When we were little, we would go to a nearby stream and get some taro stalks, peel it and then chopped it and cooked it in Coco Milk. You got to be very careful in peeling the taro stalks because it will leave some nasty maroon stain on your hands. So, whenever we would peel some stalks, we would wrap our hands with plastics while peeling it. Also be careful with some taros because some of them are itchy when eaten.
**STIR-FRIED BANANA BLOSSOMS**
In the province you can find many banana trees in the neighborhood. When we no longer have money to buy viands, we would ask for some banana blossoms from the owners of the banana trees and then we will cook it. Same with taro stalks, you must also cover your hands when cleaning and chopping a banana blossom if you don’t want your hands to be stained. Cleaning banana blossoms are a bit of a work because it has sticks in it that needs to be removed, the sticks look like tiny matchsticks. You get them by pinning and pulling your knife on them. After that you will boil the blossoms until its tender and then you set it aside until it cools. Once it’s cold you squeeze the water out of it and then you stir fry it. It is a bit of a hard work but It’s okay because stir-fried banana blossoms are so yummy. Some would make some patties out of banana blossoms or sometimes they would make some balls.
**PORK AND JACKFRUIT**
I don’t know if some of you tried this, but since my grandam has this huge jackfruit tree, we would usually get unripe jackfruits, peel it, chop it then cooked it with pork. Papa makes this recipe so good that I usually end up eating the soft jack fruit pod with no rice. Men! I can picture it out in my mind, it is so soft and yummy!
**STIR-FRIED NATIVE TREE SNAILS**
This one is the favorite of my younger brother. He would go to the forest with long sticks on his hand to get some tree snails. We call it in our dialect “takgong”. After getting the tree snails, my brother would boil them, remove the shells, remove the intestines. Chop it into sisig cuts and then sauté it with onion and garlic, add a little calamansi juice and soy sauce and then voila! It is so yummy BUT my mama hates it hahahahahaha. She abhors it.
**YELLOW CORN IN COCO MILK**
The name sounds fancy but it is just milled corn in coco milk. My mama makes it so yummy that you’ll forget that is yellow corn. She adds a good amount of ginger and pure coconut milk, and that makes it super yummy as in superrr.
**RICE CAKES IN BANANA LEAVES**
In our dialect we call it "bodbod"! Sometimes it is made out of rice flour or sometimes it is made out of cassava or corn flour. Either way, it is cooked in same manner. you mix all things in a wrapped it in banana leaves and then steam it until it is cooked. It is best paired with hot choco or milk.
Did I just made you hungry? hahahaha. Sorry!
So yeah, there you have it. These are some home-cooked dishes that brings me back to the good old days, whenever taste them.
What home-cooked meals did you love so much when you were a kid?
Share it with us here and let us go back in time as we reminisce them all!

Goals
As I was reading the articles being sent here in this community, I noticed many articles that did caught my attention and those were the ones that were written in acrostics. I like how fellow writers wrote about a certain topic using an acrostic, so today I will try venturing the use of it in writing. Let us talk about GOALS via acrostics.
****G******oals** for me are milestones that a person wants to achieve during a specific stage of his life. It could be short term or long term. Say for example you will say to your self. I will set a goal to lose two pounds in one week-that is a short term goal. Or you might had a goal when you were 15 that you will marry your high school sweetheart when you are already forty years old-that is a long term goal. Both short term and long term goals are milestones that an individual wanted to get given period, whether it be within a week, a month, a year or maybe for a couple of years.
****O*******rganizing*** our schedules is a good thing to consider if we set a goal. Organizing could mean differently for different people. For me it means setting my priorities in order. It means I will put my focus on things that will help me achieve my goal even faster. For example. A few months ago , we had a challenge in my workplace, the challenge was called The biggest Loser- whoever looses the biggest weight wins the pot money which is a thousand pesos. Since I was so determined that time to lose some weight, I reorganized my schedule, I changed my eating habits, I did not eat rice that much, I drank tons of water and many many more. As result, I reached the goal of losing more weight and yes, I did won the challenge. That is just an example of organizing our lives so that we will reach whatever goal it is that we have. Organization is then a major help whenever we set goals.
****A******rrange** your schedule consciously. Why I add the word consciously at the end because, sometimes with the goal that we have in mind we tend to arrange things just for the sake of that goal all alone, we forget that we have other responsibilities that we need to fulfill like motherhood, job responsibilities and many others. When we arrange our schedule we must not forget to consider the bigger picture. We need to make sure that we don’t neglect our other priorities even though they are not directly related to the goal. We don’t want to be making problems just because of a good goal that we are pursuing.
****L******ove** the process. Reaching a goal will not always come easy, especially when that goal requires big change but it always be worth the ups ad downs. Yes, there will be moments within the journey where you will feel that the goal you are pursuing is so hard and so out of reach but as you combat that thought with courage and determination, you will triumph over it. As they say, nothing worth having comes easy. And the harder the struggle the sweeter the outcome. So aja may friend!
****S******et** you mood. Setting your mood happens on day one until the last day of the time range that you’ve set for the goal to be achieved. You can do it every morning, upon waking up, remind yourself of the goal, you can either play songs that reminds you of it or watch a short video that will motivate you to pursue it. Daily motivation is a sure way of setting your everyday mood. Do not expect to wake up everyday with a huge amount of motivation, nope it wont be like that. There will be days where you will be burdened so much to pursue a goal, so when those times come, do your motivation routines. Watch that motivational video from your most favorite motivational speaker or listen to that Spotify playlist to boost you up.
So yeah that is my acrostic for the word GOALS. One quote that I really love about goals is the one that says,” A goal that is not written down is just a wish. One thing that I would like to add in this writing about goals, is it must be written down. Why? Because when you write it down it means that you are really serious about it. So you must write it down on paper and paste it in places where you can see them everyday. That way, you will be more reminded to set your routines right. They should be organized and arranged in a manner that will help you achieve that goal of yours.
Now what goal do you have in mind? Is it a short term or a long term one? Whatever it is, I know you can do it. In Tagalog we say, “Kaya mo iyan!” In Cebuano we say, “Kaya kaayo na nimo!” Aja Amiga!
My Worst Nightmare was..
A year and half after our marriage, I found out that I was pregnant. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Even though becoming a mother for the first time is a rollercoaster ride, I tried my best to be enjoy every semester of my pregnancy. But sometimes, no matter how hard we try in becoming good at something that we do, trials are inescapable, they are always there, ready to jump upon us to teach us, life’s most valuable lesson. And so it was with my first pregnancy, I never knew it will be a difficult struggle-one that would stretch my heart so much in avery unforgettable way. It seems to me at that time, that the nightmares that I have never thought would happen, happened so quickly that I had no time to think why they occured.
**May 04, 2020**
I had been emotionally down and stressed. I had a hard time concentrating at work but I have to be there because i had so many things to do. I was at that time on my 8th month of pregnancy. When I went home that night, I can’t still remember the meal that I had was a pack noodles soak on hot water for 10 minutes. I even took a photo of it and I will attach it below. After eating my dinner that night, I was facing the mirror talking to my baby telling her to be strong. I took a shower and then dressed for bed.
**March 05, 2020**
I felt a pain in my hipbone. I did not mind it because it was not severe but it would go from “not so” level to a “extreme” and then it would suddenly go away. I went to work thinking that maybe it was just a result of my stresses lately. At work I managed to get the pain and it had grown excruciating compared to the first time I felt it, which was at dawn. I went home and took a nap and when I woke up and went back to work I would flinch because of the excruciating pain. If not for the afternoon meeting, I might not have returned to duty at work but I am grateful I did because when I described what I have been experiencing, one of my colleagues said that I am indeed on labor and that I must go quickly to the hospital. I don’t want to believe it and I don’t want to entertain the fact that I am on labor because that would mean I would give birth prematurely. I don’t want to go to the hospitals or to lying in clinics but I had to do it for my baby. When I was checked, my cervix was already opened for about 5cm. While talking to a midwife, I asked,” Is it possible for me not to give birth now?” For me during those times, giving birth prematurely is a nightmare.
The next thing I knew is I was lying inside an ambulance, with my husband and the other rescue personnel. In no less than an hour we arrived at a hospital, I think that was around 10:00 PM. I went inside the labor room, labored for more than two hours and gave birth to a precious little baby at 1:06 AM on March 6,2020. But my nightmare did not end there. As we all know, a preterm baby has to go through a lot of risks. Minutes after I gave birth, the doctor approached me and said that my baby is so tiny and since she is only eight months old she has to be observed. She told she will be under the custody of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or NICU. The only question that came out from me that time after much exhaustion was that “Doc, did my baby cried?” The doctor told me that she did cry and that took off the worry that has been in me despite the energy that has been snapped out of my body. For the next 24 hours, I did not get to be with my baby, I would go to the NICU Area to see and hold her and breast feed her. After 24 hours, she was then released from the Nicu and was brought to me in the Low Risk Unit. I was so happy, very very happy. I thought, yey my baby is fine and were going to be going home in the coming days. But I was wrong. My nightmare was not over. The Doctor told me on the second day that they are wondering why my baby is not able to suck out the breast milk properly, he said that they had to perform some tests on her to see if there were no infections, When the result came out she had few infections on her blood that needs to be threaten through antibiotic, which also means that we have to stay a other week in the hospital since antibiotic treatments lasts for a week. He said that if me and my husband are willing, they will transfer me to the Kangaroo Mother Care Unit in order to help my baby grow a little heavier, he said it’s going to be for the good since my baby is a little bit underweight. At this point, I am beginning to falter emotionally. I do not know when will things be back to normal. I remember looking at my baby and can’t help but cry. It was seriously a nightmare for me. I nightmare where I wished someone could just pinch me so I can wake up from it. It was a period of almost two weeks of stay there at the KMC Unit.
May 18, 2020
The hospital’s release paper were already processed and my colleagues said they will pick us up from the hospital at around 6 in the evening, You have no idea how happy I am on this day. Going home for me is like a medicine that I have wanted to have. This time I am more at peace because I know my baby received proper treatment and my baby had successfully underwent the needed tests. I can still picture out in my mind the city lights that danced in my eyes as we drove from the hospital back to our home.
I thank God that he pinched me awake from that nightmare of mine. I will never be able to thank Him enough that he did. I realized one thing from that experience- nightmares do end.
Big thanks to @Infinity for sharing a good writing prompt about nightmares. https://read.cash/@Infinity/my-worst-nightmare-is-that-my-son-does-not-regain-his-strength-9ebd76d1
How Do Bitcoins Get its Value?
Before you proceed with the reading, bear in mind that these are all product of my own understanding, should you have some additions and correction, I would love to here of them in the comment section.
Do you ever wonder where bitcoin gets its value? I have thought about that too and so I went on a search to find out how. Let me share it with you my personal understanding of how Bitcoin get its value.
So how does a bitcoin get its value. To help us understand the concept behind a currencies' value, let us look back to the time when currency was on its initial stage. Way back, a currency is not made out of a specific metal like the one that we have now, people used other things as a form of currency like cacao beans, salt, gold and many other. Those things were deemed valuable because the majority of the people agreed that it is truly valuable. For example, Ancient Mayans when they discovered that they can make chocolate out of Cacao beans, cacao beans are then deemed valuable. The Mayans would then buy cacao beans and in return they would use that to buy other basic commodities like flour or clothing. As time passes by, people learned how to grow cacaos and because every person now has his own cacao beans to make chocolate, if someone would come up to him and ask if he can trade his chickens with a sack of cacao, he would refuse because he has a barrel full of it. In those times another things was found to be valuable and that was salt, it became another currency of the time, it went on the cycle until its value depreciated, replace by another thing that is of high value like gold and other metals and until such time when we reach the point where the value of something is no longer determined by a thing's usefulness, the value was then predetermined by the government and a currency is made and regulated by a central authority- the bank.
The money that you have in your wallet is not valuable because it can be eaten or because it is a lifesaving agent or because it is very useful, no. The money that you have right now has value because the government said so and we the people agreed to it. A value of a currency is determined when there is a consensus among the people who possesses it. And so, it is with crypto, so it is with bitcoins.
Bitcoins has its value because we agreed that it is valuable due to its border less and transparent nature-something that can't be found in the fiat currency. Another thing that caused bitcoins value is it scarcity. Remember that Satoshi created only 21 million bitcoins and it is believed that the last bitcoin will be mined by the year 2040. That scarcity of its supply is also a value driver. We can arrive at a notion that the lesser bitcoin left unowned the higher the value it will have-much more like gold, ight? Wait, how much gold you think there is in the whole wide world? I am really wondering.
The greater number of people understands and realizes the efficiency of the system that Bitcoin is built upon and the more the masses uses it- the more the tendency for its price to hike up! On my own perspective, when you share to someone a site that gives out cryptos you increase the possibility of it being more well known by the larger public. I will take myself as an example of that. When my friend introduced me to noise.cash, I did know what a bitcoin is, I have heard of it yes, but I don’t have an idea as to what it is and how it works. All I know is that I get a little some of money by interacting. Now when I was introduced here in read.cash, I saw so many good articles about bitcoin and the like that caught my interest, and then that is how it all started, I then became acquainted with the world of crypto currencies and for me, despite its volatility, it is very exciting.
So, what do a man does when he finds that the fruit that he is eating is the yummiest ever? He shares it right? The more we announced the advantages of bitcoin, the more it will accrue value.
That's it for now folks! Hope I shared something good!
Thank Eunoia for being so generous po.
I am lazy when….
I've read about@JonicaBradley article about laziness and the backhanded compliments that her momma gave. I thought of laziness and what it is to me and have decided to join the fun an share my thoughts about it!
Well, I grew up seeing my mother hustling hard for the family. Because my father's income was very small, I see her make ends meet and do her best so she can fill the gaps in between. Because of that, laziness seemed like a curse to me-I don’t want it and I abhor it. Maybe because I have seen how laziness caused unfed stomachs just because a parent chooses to lay all day and do nothing. But despite the fact that disliked laziness, I can’t help but notice that there is that sense of laziness deep down in me that I battle with whenever it comes to the surface. Along the passage of time, I realized that in each of us there is laziness. And it comes above the surface when we have reasons that only ourselves know.
**I am lazy when I am overfatigued**
As for my case, I am very lazy when I am overfatigued. Like when I have spent long hours at work and then come home late only to find out there is no food cooked. One thing I hate when I am in situations like this is I get easily irritated even on small and petty things. I will then end up lying in bed scrolling up down my phone’s screen, forgetting about my to-do lists.
**I am lazy when I am anxious.**
Whenever I feel anxiety regarding so many things, I feel like my body’s energy is sapped out of my being. I feel electrocuted and then abandoned and all I Want again is lay down and cover my ears with pillows. This usually happens when I worry about the future or when I worry whether my baby is eating at the right time whenever I am at work. Whenever these things crowd my mind, laziness slowly creeps in, making me want to stare at nothing and think of nothing (like literally stare at nothingness).
**I am lazy when I am in a fight with my husband.**
Marriage life is a wonderful thing. I love my husband and I love it when he cares about me. But then again not everyday is a day of filled with rainbows and butterflies, there are also days when I felt like the world is caving in on us (I think that is a bit exaggerated but yeah). And when those days come, being lazy is an understatement because I feel like I am a dysfunctional human being hahahaha. The last time that I remembered when we went into a big fight was very crippling that I opted not to wake up early and just be late for work and come home late to make sure he is sleeping (I wonder if you guys do that to-intentionally coming home late to avoid someone).
**I am lazy when its Red Days**
I think this one is a no-brainer and I guess most women out there will agree with me on this one. When the days are red, my legs are cramped and my muscles seems heavy. On these days, the only thing that I love doing is going to the bathroom and lying down. And oh, I almost forgot- eating to satisfy cravings. Red days makes women eat like a Viking who just finished fasting we nomnom like there is no tomorrow (or is it just me).
**I am Lazy when I am sad**
When something bad happens like a death of someone close to me, a sudden diagnosis of disease in someone I know, chaos at work, misunderstanding with in laws and many other can sometimes cause my laziness to bubble up to the surface. At times like these, I would usually be in the bedroom asking myself the questions;” Why?” or “How come?” until my mind can fully grasp an answer and move on.
So yep, all these are my personal reasons for laziness. Though I have direct abomination towards it, there are certain times in my life where laziness seems like a tiny monster who would peek in my mind and whisper; “Hey its me again.”
What about you? When are you lazy?

A Beginner’s Perspective on Bitcoin
So we talked about Satoshi in my most recent article about cryptocurrency. I hope I it was helpful. Now I would like to share with you my own understanding of what Bitcoin is. I have mentioned about who made it so let us talk about what he made-what Satoshi Nakamoto made.
**Bitcoin** according to Bitcoincash.org , "is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money, it uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. It is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system." In simple terms, it is an electronic cash that is built upon a decentralized system, but wait what does decentralized even mean? It means that there is no single person or group of people that get a hold on the transaction that happen in that system. Everyone who wants to be a part of that said exchange will have an access to the ledger that has all the transactions that was, are and where to be made. That ledger is called the blockchain. Now you might even wonder why it is called that way, the reason for that is each lists of transactions forms a block and each block is linked together to each other-more of like a literal chain. It is important to know that **Bitcoin was the first ever digital currency that solved the problem of double spending.** Double spending occurs when someone tries to use an amount of money to purchase two kinds of product. **Bitcoin has been built on a system where it would verify a certain transaction through a hash function SHA-256 and it will then generate one unique hash to confirm that transaction.** The first transactions that gets verified first gets the confirmation and is the deemed a successful transaction. For example, if I buy a pizza using 1 Bitcoin and then I try to buy a drink using that same Bitcoin, as I send that bitcoin from my wallet, whichever transaction is verified first, will be the transaction that's going to be honored by the system, making the other one an invalid transaction (it's a complex process for me to understand but at least that's how I get it). https://bitcoincash.org/
Speaking of pizza, did you know that the first ever transaction made using Bitcoin is to buy two Papa John’s pizzas? In 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz purchased those pizzas using 10,000 bitcoins- which cost the equivalent of hundreds of millions of dollars today, making Laszlo a multi-millionaire if he hadn’t bought that pizza and kept his bitcoins. Laszlo, in one of his interviews, was asked if he regrets it, and he said no, for him it is an honor to be a part of the early history of Bitcoin. Such a yummy history about the beginnings of Bitcoin, right? And look at where it is now, it continues to rise in value! At the time of this writing, one bitcoin now is worth $62,235.06 USD.
Now, let me highlight a term that I have mentioned above-decentralized. In my own opinion, this term has caused why the invention of Bitcoin is a breakthrough. Here is what I think, for a hundred of years the money system has always been centralized, which means that there is a central office that makes, holds and manages it-the bank. The bank is the central authority that oversees all the transaction was, are and ever will be made. You can not just come up to a specific bank and say, “Hey can I see the ledger? “or “Can I see the transactions for today?” Nope. Can’t do that. Or else you will be behind bars. Also, the banks make sure that there is no double spending (I mentioned what double spending is above). So, just like the purchase of a pizza and a drink in above’s example, the bank makes sure that someone does not purchase two items using same amount of money. For hundreds or even thousands of years banks as the central processing offices of the money system, I think, has been controlling the money system. Since the ledgers or the records of transaction are not available to the public, there is a great tendency that transactions can be manipulated by corrupt people who are in the authority. One example of this corruption is the Wells Fargo account fraud scandal, where millions of fraudulent savings and checking accounts are made on behalf of Wells Fargo clients without their consent. I think that is just a tip of the iceberg. There could have been many fraudulent acts like this that were undiscovered, which makes us feel thankful that Satoshi invented that “Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” it is transparent, decentralized and most of all it has no boundaries. When I say no boundaries, I think of those people whose life circumstances are determined by the kind of life that they are born into. We have friends form other countries who even despite the skills and abilities that they have cannot improve their financial situation due to a predetermined class or social rank that they belong to. If you have heard of the caste system, you know what I mean. Bitcoin with its peer-to-peer nature provides freedom to those who are under that system. The more people know about this transparent and borderless electronic cash, the more people are given the opportunity to financial freedom because many sites (like read.cash) allow someone to earn bitcoins and its other forks, which when totaled can be a good amount of money enough to buy your stomach a decent meal. Cant help but be continually grateful for this P2P Ecash System.
I just read an article by Jane that talks about the BCHPad, and I just think it is a great one because it allows well meaning investors avoid the nightmare of rug pull and it blocks away bad people who intends to scam tiny scales crypto inventors. I love how simple and clear that article of Jane was- direct and concise.
Been Wanting to Write My Next Crypto Article so much..
My hands have been itching so much to write a new article about BitcoinCash because I want to be able to keep the momentum going, but then again, work, home, mother and wife's duty must needs be prioritized first. Also, we went on a trip to the mountains to my parent’s house during the weekend to be with my relatives as we commemorate the death of my uncle, so I never had the chance to work on my article. Even though my head proposes many wonderful thoughts that need to be written down and even though my husband encourages me to write a new one, I just can't-for now, due to many things that are pending on my to-do list. I will make sure that I am able to write that next article that I am eyeing, next to the one that I have wrote down about Dear Satoshi Nakamoto. By the way, have you read it already? I am enjoying my journey of getting to know cryptos way so much that it automatically becomes a part of my day to day ponderings. I find myself pondering on so many questions about the crypto world and how it works. Everything about it just seems to excite me. Just second ago, I was watching Nate’s YT video about bitcoin, got to have to watch it again making sure I am able to understand every thing that he covered in that video.
About my next article, I already had a draft entitled "What is Bitcoincash from a Novice's Perspective? but since I won't be able to finish it now (because I want it to be as perfect as possible hahaha the spell of perfectionism is on play again), I will instead write something about the latest news that I have read from one user in noise.cash whose post, I came across with earlier today. He mentioned in his post that he was trying to post something in Twitter and was wanting to include hashtag #BitcoinCash in his tweet but when he tried writing it, he saw that it is not included in the hashtag suggestions. The other forks of bitcoin such as BitcoinDiamond and BitcoinSV were there but BitcoinCash was not. I actually went ahead and tried it and look at my screenshot below. Why could that be? Could it be a shadow banning? Anyway, whatever Twitter's reason of not including that in the suggestions or maybe it just a technical glitch or what. But whatever it is it will not stop what many people think -BCH is one of the leading cryptocurrencies. Let us continue flaunting that!
Speaking of leading cryptocurrency, hope you voted for Bitcoincash in Bitplaza already. I just registered in twitter so I can vote for BCH vs Litecoin. Hope you too. I went through the process of registering for a Twitter account early this morning even if I was late for work just for the sake of being able to vote for BCH. When the app asked me of my interests so it can generate users that I would might consider following, I can’t believe I looked for the Business section and looked for cryptocurrency and checked it. Why I can’t believe this is because usually when I am asked to check topics that interest me, I would usually click on books, food, arts and motivations, I am amazed that I have actually added a new one to my list of interest and that is cryptocurrency (good job self, way to go). I consider this a wise one. Such a good time to start investing on cryptocurrency over fiat money.
Now as for today, I am going to allocate much of my time first to work duties. I have so many things to do since we are now on the second period of the semester. So many discussions that need to get done and so many recording that I need to finish, not to mention the virtual meeting that I need to conduct the messages that I need to reply to and the other duties that I need to fulfill once I get home-cooking, laundries, breastfeeding, and etc. Maybe you will ask, where will I insert the schedule of writing about crypto and BCH to be specific? Well, I will wake up 4 am if that’s the only time that will allow me to achieve that goal. Haha. And I am serious about that. Dead serious. Because I really need to write those thoughts down before they flee away from my mind (does that happen to you sometimes- afraid your ideas will flee away?). I am sure my husband will help me out with the early morning waking up.
Well, I guess that’s just about it for now. I hope you guys are having a good start of the week today. This is another week of grinding. May we have positive return for the rest of the week.
Thank you so much for all the support that you guys showed me. You guys know who you are. Your upvotes makes me want to write better!
I just learned about Satoshi Nakamoto
If you are like me who haven’t known much about cryptocurrency, you might be wondering who Satoshi Nakamoto is. So, let me share with you the things that I learned about Satoshi. If you haven’t read my previous article you probably haven’t known yet, that I made this goal of understanding what cryptocurrency is and just randomly anything about it. So today, I allocated a bit of my time to continue that journey that I am determined to do. And today, I have learned so many things that still seemed to be a bit confusing, so I decide to focus my attention to dear Satoshi. Again, this article is based on my personal understanding, there is surely many writers out there who were able to write so many good articles about Satoshi such as the one written by Pantera. I am making it clear that everything I write here is based on my personal research, so if I mistakenly write something than can be corrected, I would love to hear you mention it in the comment section so that I will get it right. https://read.cash/@Pantera/the-futile-search-for-satoshi-de99043b
So now let us have the question that is worth a billion bitcoins-who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
According to bitcoincash.org, Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym of the man who released the white paper entitled “Bitcoin: A Peer to Peer Electronic Cash System”, on October 2008 (that is a decade and three exactly this month). He was the one who devised the first blockchain database and therefore is the man who invented bitcoin. People said that he could have been a Japanese, given his pseudonym which is obviously a Japanese name, but experts think that there are many basis that he could have been a man of a British decent given the many British English that can be found not just in the white paper that he released but also on the emails that he sent out before he disappeared. https://bitcoincash.org/#:~:text=THE%20HISTORY%20OF,massive%20future%20increases. https://bitcoin.org/en/ https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper
In 2009, Satoshi released the first bitcoin software which powered the network. As I read this, I cannot help but appreciate the motives behind realizing this project of a peer to peer cash system. Now wait what did that phrase peer-to-peer meant to me. Well it meant there is no third party in between me and my money who would sometimes ask for high fees for any transaction made. Bitcoin allowed individuals to transact directly to one another (I guess we can simplify the term “peer-to-peer to person-to-person”) with low fees, and fast, reliable transactions. Satoshi’s invention allowed the success of the electronic cash system, which had been worked on for years and even decades by many people who saw the freedom that digital money brings to the society.
Though he disappeared during mid-2010, people are still talking about him and the impact he made in digitalizing cash. For years, people had speculated who Satoshi really is. Some people were asked if they were Satoshi while some came out and openly announced that they were Satoshi. Until now, we don’t know exactly who he is, or maybe who the men were behind this pseudonym. But despite their anonymity, I can’t help but be grateful to whoever pioneered this peer-to-peer electronic system. He or they allowed you and me to experience the liberating power of that P2P system (peer-to-peer system) and on top of that, liberate ourselves from the negative effects of a centralized money system.
If I were to give my two cents, it would be that this whole thing of cryptocurrency is the thing of the future. I am amazed of the ups and downs that it went through. When Bitcoin was first invented, few people believed on it, one of the few was that great guy who is always connected to the early days of bitcoin as someone who first bought a pizza out of his bitcoins, that might be the first ever transaction using bitcoin. Well, since the time it was invented, to the time that Satoshi disappeared and up to now where many and many people are coming to know of it, it had done so much and had impacted many lives for good. It helped alleviate poverty and helped many achieved financial stability. Something each of us are surely grateful for. Let us continue to hope for the best as Bitcoin continue to gain high value among many individuals.
I guess that will be it for now! Thank for reading and see you again next time.
A Goal of Understanding How Cryptocurrencies Work
I have been away for two months but the fact that writing for me is catharsis has caused my mind to always be drawn towards here in Read.Cash and the articles that I could have written had I been able to manage my time properly. Sometimes you just got to give yourself a little nudge for you to do something you have been longing to do. I am glad I was able to do that yesterday. An article about mindsets was born yesterday, and yep I am back to writing my heart out. https://read.cash/@Betha/a-goal-of-understanding-how-cryptocurrencies-work-c8c7fa56
The whole time I started my journey in Noise.Cash and later here in Read.Cash, I had so many questions about how do cryptocurrencies work. So last night I made a goal to study about it-from how it began and how it works up to the many types of cryptocurrencies that are in the market now. I know I am going to be doing a big task and a lot of understanding will be needed, but that is totally fine. Laws of learning stated that when you are ready to learn, you will learn. The interest that I have, regarding these cryptocurrencies, is for me, an indication of readiness to learn more about them and that makes me really excited about this learning adventure that I planned on doing.
Right now, I am still thinking bout the things that I learned from last night’s researches about cryptocurrencies. I am currently understanding bits and pieces about it, and that is okay. I am positive that I will understand them little by little as I study about them more often. I learned from past experiences that learning things are always in a little by little pace just like reading or writing or arithmetic. When we were in grade one, reading the alphabet was a bit difficult, or maybe very difficult for some of us. But eventually as we practiced it little by little or maybe every day, little by little it became easier until it became very very easy. Learning has always been like that for me. The first step is always a difficult one but it will become easy as we practice and repeat- now that is another law of learning called, law of exercise. Are you guys familiar with Edward Lee Thorndike? He was the one who proposed these Laws of Learning that I am talking about. Should you have some free time you might want to search him. He got some good insights about these different laws of learning that can help us understand how the learning process works and how our brain works when it learns something.
I kind of have this thought of where this quest for learning will take me. One thing that I think will result from this journey might be a wiser way of investing. Not just on the many different cryptocurrencies out there but most especially to the one close to my heart-Bitcoin Cash. You may ask why it is close to my heart, it is because it is the very first cryptocurrency that allowed me to earn. I think I heard its name more than two years ago, but not until this year and not until I was exposed to Noise.Cash (by the way thanks to my friend for introducing that platform to me) did I really really learn a little more of it. So, I am very excited about this goal of understanding how digital money works. The knowledge I will get out of this goal will certainly help me as I venture more into this futuristic and decentralized way of investing and earning. As they say, knowledge is power and I want to acquire more of it.
I am just glad, very glad that I get to read so many articles here about cryptocurrencies. Communities like the one where I am posting this article do help me in understanding it better and of course I need to make my own research more by watching videos in YouTube especially the ones which are easy enough to understand for a novice like me. Despite the fact that cryptos are a trend right now, I am sure there are many people like me who still don’t understand how they work and what they are. In that case, I am not just helping myself understand but I am also helping others to understand it better. Since I will be speaking from my own understanding, I would really appreciate each of your comments and suggestions for me, especially if you have written one that is easy to understand for beginners such as myself. Or maybe you know someone who has a good YouTube channel that has reliable info. Your help will be warmly welcomed.
So, I think that’s about it. I will be crafting my first article about cryptos soon. By the way thank you so much for all your supports, especially to my generous sponsor @renren16. I am very grateful that you choose to sponsor me, I am more encouraged to write good articles here in Read.Cash. I hope you will also visit her articles for they surely are good reads too. Bye for now guys, my stomach is already rumbling, till next time!

The Day I Learned About Growth and Fixed Mindset
Last year I was blessed enough to be contracted as an instructor for an international school that allows individuals to earn certificates and degrees online. One of my tasks is to check assignments and offer feedbacks on how each student under my advisory should improve in their writing and life skills. Yes, you read it right, **life skills**. I think that is the unique thing about this international school that I am affiliated with, they include in their curriculum life skills such as **time management**, **financial education**, **correct mindset** and **religion**. The philosophy behind it as I have understood is, when students are able to take care of their individual lives, that is, if they are able to set things in order at home, they will most probably become better students or even at their best selves at the academic field.
Today I would want to share one of the things that I learned as I served as a contract instructor. I am sharing this for the purpose of helping each of us here excel in our individual lives too. I am talking about, growth mindset. As I have understood it, growth mindset is the type of mindset that a person has in which he or she believes that every difficult circumstance can help him or her grow. When a person has this type of mindset, he sees a difficult time as an opportunity to grow and improve and not as a circumstance to punish him or her. An example of a situation where a growth mindset is manifested would be; a student who finds Math very difficult but keeps on trying to learn and study it despite the difficulty that he or she experienced. It can also be seen in a writer who tries and tries to get his or her article right despite the difficulty or an artist who continues to create his masterpiece despite the many difficult times he has been through. In simple terms, growth mindset is a type of mindset that says, “I will continue to strive, no matter what.”
Now, you might be wondering, what could be the opposite of a growth mindset? Well, the opposite to growth mindset is fixed mindset. From the term itself it suggests, stagnant and unprogressive. When the person has a fixed mindset, he thinks that his abilities are fixed and that he can never improve. Having this type of mindset will lead someone to think that he or she can never reach his or her goals and that he or she will never amount to someone in this life. For example, if you have a growth mindset you might say something like; “I will never learn how to play the piano or “I will never excel at school or maybe something like, “He is successful because he is born intelligent”. Obviously, this type of mindset impedes growth and progress.
Why is having growth mindset a good suggestion for all of us? Well, I think this is not a good suggestion but rather, it is the best suggestion! Having the first type of mindset-growth mindset, will help you find more opportunities of growth and improvement. It will bring you out of your comfort zone and it will bring you to places you have never been, including things you have never done, which will lead you to success you have never yet experienced. It will also help you change the view you once had about yourself and your capabilities. You will then see your self as someone capable of doing all the good things that you imagined doing. You will realize that the only thing that is stopping you from achieving your dreams and goals is **YOU**. Fixed mindset can be so limiting that it can lead someone to believe that he is destined to be a loser for the rest of his life. So, beware of that time of mindset.
Now, a question might be asked, how and where do I begin so that I will have that growth mindset? Well, you must begin in your mind, begin by changing the way you think about you. I am not a psychologist to recommend this trick, but I have seen its power in many occasions that I have tried it for myself. When I change the way, I think of myself and others, things around me changes. When I change the way I look at situations, so many other things change along with it. So yes, begin in the mind, slowly change the way you think of yourself and other people.
I can never thank Professor Carol Dweck who proposed these types of mindset along with his speech about the Power of Yet in a Ted Talk. The many article and books she wrote helped me in understanding the wonderful effects of this mindset and the many wonderful change it gives to anyone who seeks to apply it in his or her life.
I hope you learned something good from this one. May you choose to have a growth mindset than a fixed one.
My Week-long Meal Ideas
I am one of those individuals that sometimes struggle in answering the question “ what shall we have for lunch/dinner?” This question is super simple but it would sometimes take us hours to answer this. Am I right? I bet you would agree with me. So in line with that dilemma that we sometimes face when it is time to cook meals, I am writing this article to help you have some ideas on what to cook. So since we are now in the summer vacation, I had plenty of time to make some decluttering and organization in our tiny home. One of the things that I did was to make a week plan for the different meal ideas that we can follow. So since us Filipinos are very accustomed to eating three times a day. I made seven breakfast ideas, seven lunch ideas and seven dinner meal ideas. Let me present to you my “WEEK-LONG MEAL IDEAS” which is by the way affordable and healthy.
Seven Breakfast Ideas
Sunny Side-up
This is a no-brainer when it comes to breakfast ideas because it is very easy to make. Eggs have been a common part of breakfasts because of its good taste and the easy preparation one has to make.
Eggs with Hunt Pork And Beans
I love Hunts Pork and Beans so I often ask my husband to make some of his signature Eggs With Pork And Beans dish. He is very good at making it creamy and yummy.
Ampalaya With Egg
Some don’t like ampalaya (bitter melon) because of its bitter taste. But this veggie has been proven by dietician to have many essential vitamins that are good for the body.
Tortang Talong
This one is my husband’s favourite and this time he likes it when I am the one cooking it. The trick in making the best tortang talong in town is by adding a little flour to make the batter thicker but yummier
Egg Omelette
This is a twin to sunny side up because this is also so easy to make, you just mix the egg with the other ingredients that you want yo include in it like hotdog, or meat or veggies, season it with salt and pepper and voila! Top it with some ketchup and you will be good to go.
Tortang Hipon
It’s a good thing that our place is near the fish port, because sometime I am lucky enough to buy some fresh tiny shrimps or they call it clutch, we call it “uyap” in our dialect.
Seven Lunch Ideas
With lunch ideas I decide to list down recipes that are a mixture of meat and veggies. Here are they.
Paksiw Na Isda
I love adding okra and talong and green labuyos to my paksiw na isda, and coconut vnegar. The trick in making the best paksiw in town is not putting a little oil before putting off the fire. Promise its gonna be yummier!
Adobong Manok
I grew up loving the adobong manok Bisaya style-the one which is dry and crunchy. But since my husband grew up in Luzon, I came to love the Tagalog way of cooking adobo, the one with potatoes, carrots, paminta, suka and tuyo. Oh I love adobo!
Pritong Isda
As simple as it can get. I love it when its crunchy so I can chew the head like chicharon. The sauce is very important. Make one by combining soy sauce and suka plus tomato and onion.
Kinamatisang Tuyo
I learned this from my mama. The tomato transforms the taste of the fried dried fidh into a sumptuous one. The sweet tangy soury tomato taste mixed with the saltines of the dried fish makes you want for more rice.
Pinakbet
I love how you can add the ingredients of pinakbet one by one and then add then come up with a delicious dish.
Adobong Baboy
I love the Tagalog style adobo. They are almost the same with Humba de Cebu
Vegetable Lumpia
Glad that I have known that there are bland lumpia wraps. Its more delicious if the wrapper is not too salty. I just learned recently that lumpia when translated in English is Spring Rolls. NTK( nice to know)
Seven Dinner Ideas
I made it a goal to have soups at dinner so that my breast milk will increase.
Sinabawang Gulay
We call it utan in our dialect, some call it law-oy too. But whatever name it is it is that one good soup.
Tinolang Isda
The secret to make your tinolang isda very deli is adding lemon grass and more luya.
Nilagang Baboy
I love it when I overload this soup with cabbage and cooked the meat until it comes off the bones.
Tinolang Manok
Papaya, lemon grass and albahaka make a difference in a tinola. I don’t what others call that green leaf that smells so good; we call it albahaka in our place.
Egg Drop Soup
This is the easiest among the upper mentioned soups, coupled it with, malunggay and green labuyo .
And since the soups are for dinner only I just repeat two of them in a week to make it seven. Mostly it’s the sinabawang gulay and egg drop soup that gets to be repeated, because they are the ones that are very easy to make.
So yep! There you have it fellas. My Week-long Meal Ideas. Since it is dinner time is coming at the time of this writing, hope you get meal ideas from here. Thanks for reading everyone! Love you all!
When I was a Teenager
Hi @bmjc98 . Salamat po sa nice idea of writing something about my teenage years.
So here's mine.
**I was bullied because my hair was super curly.**
Since I was the only girl in the family I was the one who gets to grow her hair long and so it would be very noticeable that I got really curly hair. Back then, there was a commercial on TV of a parrot asking for crackers from a man with curly hair. And so whenever people of my age would see me they would mimic that parrot and say “Hoy kulot gusto ko ng crackers”. They think it was funny, I think it was emotionally destructive because those bullies made me think I got the worst type of hair ever. And eventually I grew up with the mind-set that my hair is awful.
**I was told I was super ugly.**
It was during my 2nd year in high school, and we were playing volleyball with my friend. You know how high school friends would bring a Mikasa ball and you would volley that ball to one another though there is no volleyball net? Yeah we did that and we were enjoying despite the suns heat that rain upon our skulls causing our pet lice to rejoice. But anyway, going back to that day in my 2nd year in high school, we were happily playing when suddenly a ball from another group of schoolmates ran down the ground, and with the aim to catch that ball to prevent it from running farther, I picked it up and handed it over to the boy who was approaching me. I don’t know what I did but when he had the ball in his hand he told me something I never forgot and had remembered even up to this very day, he said: “You are so ugly.” And I was like…. “What did I do?” I just walked back to my friends and pretended I was okay. I let the joy of volleying ball drown the bad feeling.
**I was the SSG President for two consecutive years.**
During my high school years , a schoolmate of mine who ran for the position of SSG President of our school asked me to run as a Second Year Representative, I accepted his invitation and luckily I won. The year after that, I was encouraged by my adviser to run as an SSG President. I was hesitant because of course I only had one year experience of handling leadership position as a representative and my opponent is a transferee from SCI TECH and is a year ahead of me, which means that she is more qualified and maybe more effective leader than me. But I don’t know what happened, the odds were with me and I was able to win the election. I served another year after that and was able to achieve projects that aimed to improve our school. I left a legacy of helping the wayward obey school rules by being a friend to them. Man! I miss my high school years!
**I won a news writing competition.**
I love writing even when I was a child. My mama and her handwritten letters to us when she leaves the house or when she send one to our teacher to excuse us from class, plays a big role in the development of my love for writing. I was asked by my adviser to represent the school for the news writing competition at a division level. I studied journalism books week before that. I Listened to news in the radio, read the latest newspaper and practiced writing as best as I could. On the day of the competition, I was very nervous while I played countless facts I learned in my head. When the topic was announced, my head seemed to jump in joy because it was one of the topic that I have practiced writing about. Thoughts glided from my mind and I was able to finish it within the given time. And to make it short, I won FIRST PLACE and was asked to represent the whole Division at the regional level. I can still remember the joy I felt that day and the orange-colored shirt we wore on the day of the Regional Competition with initials RSPC-Regional Schools Press Conference.
**I love Carlo Aquino and my favourite Teleserye was "Ang Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit".**
I could say Carlo Aquino has been my teenage crush and even until now. Hahaha. (I need to tell hubby about this later) . I don’t know but I think he is so charming. I love his movies and would fall head over heels whenever I see him on TV. Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit was my fave because it points out the lives of children who were deprived of childhood. My favourite scene is when Miles was selling puto cucinta and she would sing to attract buyers. I would cry when there Amo would scare them so they would beg more in the streets. It aches my heart to know that, that teleserye was a depiction of the reality that some kids get to experience in the hands of notorious syndicates.
**Nostalgia.**
I love walking down the memory aisle of my teenage years. It was not one filled with roses and comforts but it has helped me shape the person I am today. It’s true what they say about high school years, “Ang exciting, ang saya… High school days oh my high school days!"
It made my teenage life so full of twists and turns.
What about you guys? What how was your teenage years? Come write about it!
I'm 25, He's 22.
When it comes to intimate relationships, there is this notion that has gotten too popular- being with someone, OLDER than you, right? Hahaha. Like when you tell your friends you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, they would automatically ask, "how old is he/she? And when you tell them he/she is olddr than you, they would give you that side comment that points out this age standard. Well, I would say that it has been my guiding standard when I was still unmarried, (but was oftentimes not met), because as we all know, when the heart sees that spark, it falls for it, forgetting the supposed standard the head holds. When the heart speaks, it mutes out all the sanity the mind has? Would you agree? I bet you would.
When I met my husband, it was a complete opposite to that age standard. I was 24 and he was 21. I feel in love with his eyes, so to speak, but much more than that, I fell in love with his perspective in life and his care and love towards me. Not to mention that he is multi talented- plays chess greatly and sings beautifully but I only knew that when we were nearing marriage. Of course, it was not an easy journey for me, and maybe for him too. And just like what I have mentioned above, when I introduce him, people would make side comments like," Oh so you're older than him",and in those scenes, I feel awkward as I nod and say yes. There was even this unforgettable experience where I was asked if he was my younger brother. It happened when we were riding on a tricycle and he came off before me, the driver asked if he were my younger brother and I just nodded and said yes, because Im tired of explaining things. Hahahaha. I guess that was the worst. I did not like it due ng those times. But then again, breaking up just because I dont want to be asked about who's older would be a crazy idea because there are so many things that outweighs that issue about age.
When we were officially engaged which was after a year of dating (and seeing each others tantrums haha), I could feel his family's doubt, not on us nor on me, but on his capabilities to rear a family because at that time, I was 25 and he was 22. And again that strong reason of marrying someone older than me came knocking on the door again. My mind reminded me that if I marry someone who's older than me, that would mean I will be marrying someone that is employed and is established. But then again, finding someone who is well established in life and someone who loves and cares for you are two different things. They sometimes dont happen all at once, not at least for me. And so, the heart still won during that time of reconsideration.
And yes, we finally got married, ours was not a rush decision. I was not pregnant or something and the main reason why we got married young was because, it was something we have been taught of, "get married as soon as you find someone who's bad sides you can handle and build a righteous family to the Lord". And so,even when it seemed to me a little bit an against all odds scenario, we did got married. And I realized that my experiences of dealing with awkward moments of answering questions as to who's older has taught me that love sees beyond the awkward, dull, and ugly moments of courtship period. It sees beyond age. It sees beyond tantrums. Love sees what eyes fails to see because it looks inside the heart of the person we choose to love. Love looks into their strengths and hidden abilities that were waiting to be unleashed in its own due time.
We are now on our second year of marriage, and has been blessed with a cute little princess. As days roll on, I come to see why people had that notion of being in a relationship with someone older than us. I realized that the underlying reason behind that is, we believe that when we have someone older than us, that means we're the baby-the younger one that needs to be taken cared of. And I guess that too is the reason why I had that age standard way back. I wanted to be taken cared of, I wanted to be the little princess in a relationship. I wanted to be the little baby, because all my life I feel like I was running and keeping things together and I longed for rest and care from someone else way back. But now even though my husband is younger than me, I can honestly say he loves me. He cares for me and our princess, He has some lapses-yes, but that is outweighed by the love and effort he gives us. Something I know I wouldn't find somewhere in other people's arms.
With him, I realized that there is one important thing aside from the age standard that a woman should look for in a partner, and that is Fidelity. No care and love can compensate the heartaches and sorrows caused by infidelity. Would you be willing to follow your age standard for the sake of not being laughed at during the courtship period and then endure a lifetime of maltreatment and heartaches? Think again. 🙂
So if you are young and is considering marriage, an age is just a number while fidelity is a true gem.
Loki
If you have watched that Marvel series, you sure know,
That one creature I am referring to.
But in those episodes I saw a different him,
Different from who he has always been.
I saw him love and care for Selvy.
I saw him tear up as he wonder where is she.
He could have twisted things and lied,
But in this series, I saw him cried.
I guess after all, Loki is a representation,
Of man's mischiefs and selfish intentions.
But through all that, I guess you'll agree
That all of us have goodness inside, just like Loki.
A Brief Introduction of Myself
Hi my name is Betha, I am 28 years old, I got married two years ago to the man I love. We now have a one year old baby. I am a college instructor from the Philippines. I graduated from College two years ago and was luckily accepted to a local college after my graduation. I love reading books especially classic novels and I also love writing down my thoughts, in fact when I was in high school, I have written some poems about love and life, joined writing competition and the like. When I was in College, I love writing about sadness and pain. I also love psychology. I love reading theories and biographies of psychologists- it helps me understand myself and other people more. Everytime I read a good biography and the theory that the comes along with it, I feel like I have eaten a fresh sweet fruit, like apples or watermelon- it refreshes my mind and widens my understanding of life and people. I happened to have a colleague who is getting his Masters in Psychology, so everytime he gets an assignment, we would talk about it and I get to learn new things again and again. I think it is really fun. I love psychology and poetry so much, I think they are therapeutic.
