“WITHOUT FAITH, IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOOD PLEASURE IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE HE WHO approaches God should believe that it is, and reward those who seek him long. - HEBREWS 11: 6.

What is belief Some declare belief to be a religious belief in God with no solid evidence of its existence. The American journalist H. L. Mencken defined belief as "illogical belief in the occurrence of the improbable". Is this belief true as described in the Bible? A clear understanding of what faith is is essential because, as noted above, "without faith it is impossible to please God".

The Bible says, "Faith provides the things we expect." (Hebrews 11: 1, The New Testament as today's language) Therefore, belief is based on accurate knowledge, facts on which correct decisions can be based. It takes not just a belief but a reason to believe.

To illustrate, you may have a friend who can say, “I trust this man. I can count on him to keep his word. I know if I have a problem he will help me. You probably won't be saying this about someone you've known for a day or two, are you? It would have to be someone who has proven his reliability time and time again. The same must be true of religious belief, which must generate hope and beliefs based on solid and reliable evidence.

Belief or gullibility?

Much of what is considered to be belief today is, in fact, gullibility, willingness to believe for no basis or good reason. Gullibility is usually based on quicksand of enthusiasm and superstition. It is not an established belief because there is no reliable basis for belief.

Gullibility can lead to conclusions that are inconsistent with biblical truth. That is why the Bible warns against unfounded belief: "The inexperienced trusts every word, but the perceiver takes his steps into account." (Proverbs 14:15) The apostle Paul wrote: “Be sure of everything; cling to what is right. "(1 Thessalonians 5:21.) The Bible does not promote credibility. It encourages evidence-based belief.

To be able to tell true belief from gullibility is serious business. An individual can be religious and yet have no real faith. Paul emphasized: "Faith is not everyone's property." (2 Thessalonians 3: 2) But the biblical faith belongs to some people and affects their lives.

True faith connects man with God

Faith can be compared to a chain of bonds of trust and security that connect man to God. But that kind of belief is cultivated; It's not something we're born with. How Can You Develop True Faith? The Bible explains: “Faith follows what is heard. What is again heard is the word of Christ ”(Romans 10:17).

Therefore, you must take the time to learn about God and the teachings of His Son, Jesus Christ. This knowledge cannot be acquired without effort. (Proverbs 2: 1-9) You must make an effort to find out what the Bible says to be sure of its reliability.

True belief, however, involves more than just knowing or believing that something is true. It's also about the heart, the seat of motivation. In Romans 10:10 it says: "Faith is exercised with the heart." What does that mean? By meditating and enjoying divine things, you allow the message of the Bible to penetrate deep into your heart. Faith grows and strengthens as you are motivated to keep God's promises and see evidence of His blessings (2 Thessalonians 1: 3).

What a precious possession is true faith! We benefit from being able to face difficult conditions with trust in God, in His ability to guide our steps and in His willingness to respond to our needs. Furthermore, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, emphasized a long-term benefit of faith: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son so that everyone who exercises his faith in him would not be. destroyed, but it has life. "(John 3:16) Eternal life - what a wonderful gift for those of faith!

Belief in God's promise to reward His servants gives us a new perspective on life. Hebrews 11: 6 says that true faith includes believing in God's ability to "reward those who seek Him". Hence, it is clear that true belief is not gullibility, and it is much more than believing that God exists. It's about accepting God's ability to act as a reward to those who sincerely seek him. Do you really and sincerely want to know God? As you do so, you will acquire a thorough knowledge of His word, the Bible, and your faith will be rewarded.
