Miki Endo,a 24-year-old woman who worked for the Crisis Management Department in the Japanese town of Minamisaniriku, saved thousands of lives during the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake & tsunami. While everyone else ran to safety, she remained in her seat, kept broadcasting alerts & warnings over the loudspeaker system until the tsunami swept over the office building, killing her in the process.
