MANILA - "More rain ... compared to Ondoy." This is how the weather bureau PAGASA described the intensity of the rain poured by typhoon Ulysses when it hit Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon all night Wednesday through Thursday morning.

"In terms of our rainfall, we are still assessing but ... we can say that more rain has been experienced here in typhoon Ulysses compared to Ondoy because the typhoon is widespread," weather forecaster Benison Estareja told ABS-CBN TeleRadyo this Thursday.

Tropical storm Ondoy sowed havoc in Marikina and parts of Metro Manila and Rizal in 2009. It left more than 400 dead in the affected areas.

Marikina River exceeds Ondoy water level On Thursday, many Marikina residents could not help but remember Ondoy, especially since many parts of the city were flooded again.

Many of them are already rescuing because of the stranded roof as the floodwaters gradually rose.

Several residents of Rodriguez and San Mateo in Rizal stranded in the flood, rescuing Ulysses suffered more than a week after being hit, particularly in the Bicol region, super typhoon Rolly, the strongest typhoon in the world by 2020.

Don't forget drainage or flood system is the main problem in any city that suffers from flood. Better let local government of national government to embrace that investment to get rid of being called as worst place to hide during typhoon.

Plus, garbages are too heavy to bear especially in the slums.
