Sugar. Foe or Friend? 🤔

Good morning to everyone. Let me use this medium to sensitize us a little bit about our health.

Now we all know that in most parts of the world, we consume diets that are mostly carbohydrates in huge amounts daily due to the rate of poverty and in most cases nutritional ignorance. Carbohydrates are complex sugar. We all know the ramifications of excess sugar in our system.

If your blood sugar level is too high, you may experience:

•Increased thirst.

•Frequent urination.

•Fatigue.

•Nausea and vomiting.

•Shortness of breath.

•Stomach pain.

•Fruity breath odor.

•A very dry mouth.

•Poor sexual performance (quick ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and even low sex libido)

Now let's pick few salient points to explain. They're all important but I'll pick a few that we see quite often.

•Frequent urination: When there's too much sugar in your blood, which happens if you have diabetes, your kidneys have to work harder to get rid of it. This forces them to make more urine. The process doesn't stop just because you're snoozing. Diabetes can also damage your kidneys or bladder.

•Fatigue. If your body is sensitive to sugar, you may experience fatigue due to the fact that it reacts by producing low amounts of beta-endorphins and serotonin. Low levels of these chemicals lead to an experience of fatigue and lethargy.

•Shortness of breath: Now sugar is good for us because it give us energy and keeps us agile and active in our day to day activities. But excess of it is the opposite of being active.

•Increased thirst: Your kidneys are forced to work overtime to filter and absorb the excess glucose. When your kidneys can't keep up, the excess glucose is excreted into your urine, dragging along fluids from your tissues, which makes you dehydrated. This will usually leave you feeling thirsty.

•A very dry mouth: Dehydration: People with diabetes are prone to dehydration. Increased blood sugar levels: In those with diabetes, a person's blood glucose levels can become too high . The term for this is hyperglycemia, and it can cause a person to experience dry mouth.

•Fruity breath odor: The fat-burning process creates a buildup of acids in your blood called ketones, which leads to DKA if untreated. Fruity-smelling breath is a sign of high levels of ketones in someone who already has diabetes. It's also one of the first symptoms that doctors look for when they check for DKA

•Shortness of breath: Over time, diabetes can damage the ability of the kidneys to filter waste properly and cause significant damage to the kidneys. As the kidneys lose their ability to function properly, fluid builds up in the body and can back up into the heart and lungs, which may lead to shortness of breath.

•Poor sexual performance: It’s all to do with your circulation and nervous system. Consistently high blood sugar causes damage to the nerves and blood vessels, affecting the absorption of glucose from the blood. This decreases sensitivity, making it more difficult for you to get an erection (Erectile dysfunction). High blood sugar, as seen in diabetes, can cause nerve issues and problems with nitric oxide production, both of which can reduce ejaculation time (Quick Ejaculation) The researchers say. High blood pressure can also over-stimulate your sympathetic nervous system, which also sets the stage for premature ejaculation. Now you might want to know the relationship between high blood sugar and high blood pressure. Over time, diabetes damages the small blood vessels in your body, causing the walls of the blood vessels to stiffen. This increases pressure, which leads to high blood pressure.

Preventive and Corrective measures.

Now we have 3 unique ways of curtailing these issues.

(1) Regular exercise to burn bad calories and to prevent too much sugar deposits in your body

(2) Regulate your carbohydrate and raw sugar intake. Too much of sugar is bad and too low of it is bad too. So we need it but in moderation.

(3) Use medication to correct and to prevent. Natural remedies are the best as they have little or no bad effects on our system.

Now let me not neglect to talk about the most popular deformity caused by sugar going beyond the recommend level, Diabetes.

Diabetes and its complications are now responsible for some of the commonest cause of sudden unexpected natural death in the country.

Possible complications include: Cardiovascular disease including coronary artery disease with chest pain (angina), heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries (atherosclerosis)

Diabetes dramatically increases the risk of various cardiovascular problems, including coronary artery disease with chest pain (angina), heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries (atherosclerosis)

So question is, is sugar a friend or foe? The answer depends on us individually.
