Chapter 5

Soft music was been played on the background, the house was decorated, with ribbons and lighting. Staffs were running around, some where shouting and giving out orders. Vivian was excited, at least she was certain he had friends, she had always seen him as a lober, with no family. Alonso was having his 30th birthday party. Although, he had refused to celebrate it, his mother didn't mind organising it for him.

Guests had began to swarm in and out with presents, he moved from one guest to the other either pecking the ladies or a firm handshake with the men. Vivian stood at a far corner observing the guests, till her gaze landed on him. He looked genuinely happy, care free, he was all smiles. She felt it was good, other than been stern looking all the time.

"Why are you standing here, like Diego." One of the maids, Kate asked. She was a petite girl with blonde hair, black eyes and small lips. She was one of the few staffs Vivian interacted with.

"Very funny, but it won't be when he hears this." Vivian laughed, Kate only blushed looking away. She had a huge crush on Alonso's chief security officer.

"He won't only if one of us tell." She mumbled, after some minutes, she walked towards the guests to dance. Vivian sighed, it seemed like she was the only one with her working uniform. He permitted the staffs to attend, but hired caterers and attendants too. She had barely made it back when a lady in a white slit dress approached her.

"Be a darling and refill my glass." she said tossing the champagne flute into her hand. Vivian bowed and walked towards the table at the far end. She checked the shelves, then noticed the Champagne was on the top shelf. She stretched to get it but couldn't, then a hand brought it to her level. She knew who it was from the cologne that clouded her nostrils, for the first time her breath hitched, he was so close to her ass. He dropped it on the table and cleared his throat.

"Why are you still dressed like this?" She noticed he was now behind the table so she turned around.

"I was about changing, before a lady sent me to refill her glass." She answered without looking at him. He scoffed,

"So,you now work for the lady, Huh?" He asked looking at her with a glare.

" No sir, I'm so sorry, I would go change now." She abandoned the glass and scurried off towards her bedroom. He walked off towards his guests.

She rummaged through her box, but couldn't find a decent dress to wear. She finally decided on a red short dress, it was supposed to be her prom dress but she didn't finish. She packed her hair in a neat bun. She never applied make-up, she didn't even own any, not even a jewelry. She stepped out and walked towards the balcony, she had noticed other staffs gathered there. She could feel the stares, and glares she got from the crowd. She was the only dark skinned girl in the room. It felt suffocating, some were pointing while some laughed staring her way. She turned around, almost running to her bedroom, but a hand caught her wrist and pulled her towards the hallway away from the guests.

"Who are you?" She asked pulling away from the stranger's grip, and taking a few steps back .He had blue eyes, with raven black hair, his skin was like olive, although he wasn't as handsome as Alonso.

"You ought to thank me first?" He queried eyeing her legs.

"Thank you."she spat, he already looked like a pervert with the way he scanned her breasts and legs.

"That's better. I didn't know Alonso had something this hot under his roof." He said moving towards her. She backed away,,

"I thought I told you not to near what's mine, Rodrigo." Alonso said, his eyes had now darkened. Rodrigo backed away, hands in the air. He had been watching her, before Rodrigo pulled her away. He felt angry and possessive, he stormed towards the hallway.

"I was just having a chat with her." He lied looking at her with a wink.

"It doesn't seem like she wanted it." He finally stood behind her, Rodrigo finally walked away. He placed his hand on the small of her back and led her towards her quarters. Vivian could not describe how she felt with his hand on her back, she felt hot in the cheeks.

"I guess it's not just me that hates the blacks." He finally broke the silence, they had now arrived at her bedroom door.

"Thank you sir, we deserve the hate." She replied, mumbling the last part.

"You could make a difference to that. Good night." He said walking away. He hadn't felt this way before, why now.

She locked the door then slid to the ground, she couldn't believe she had a casual conversation with him, although it was short. She felt happy, he defended her, which meant he likes her. So, she thought, she finally lay on her bed, and for he first time, slept with a smile.
