Chapter 3

It's been a week she had started working at the Estate. She was now in the kitchen making Alonso a coffee, although she had never made physical contact with him other than the day she arrived, he had sent a maid to convey his message, while she was still sleeping. It was around the early hours of 5 She didn't know why he had to be this mean towards her, probably because she was the only black servant he had.

On the day she had arrived, she stood in awe at the magnificent structures around his Estate. There was a large fountain that sat at the centre, between the gate and the mansion, seats made from fine woods, carv d to perfection surrounded it. There were nearly trimmed grasses, all kinds of flowers surrounded the place.

"Let me give you a tip to get along with Sir, although he never gets close to anybody." Oliver interrupted her thoughts, laughing at the end, which caused her to smile. She liked the way he made small talks, even though she felt small. Back at the airport, she saw the hateful stares she got from people, and glare a lady threw her at her while he had helped her open the limo.

"If you don't want to be on his bad side, don't go around moping at things, you can actually do that when he's out of town though, try not to make too much friends, so you won't get carried away with gossips and lastly Don't get on Greta's nerves. " He explained.

"Who's Greta?" She asking with creased brows.

"The chief maid, and my sister, she doesn't like gossips."

Vivian nodded not knowing what to reply. She already knew what to expect from here, no friends, no gossips. She recited, but she still couldn't resist not staring.

They walked through the steps passing by series of bodyguards. They stood opposite each other at each steps she took, she had wanted to greet or probably say ''hello'' but her throat got dry from fear. On getting to the door, it opened and Alonso himself stepped out with another set of bodyguards, he had a phone to his ear. She stopped breathing at that moment, she felt like her world stilled. He was beautiful, he looked even more handsome than the first time she had seen him. Oliver cleared his throat and nudged her with his elbow, then she remembered she hadn't greeted him, wrecking her brain on what to say but nothing came out. He finally hung up and looked her way,

"Hand her those things, she didn't come here to live like a princess." He barked, and walked towards his car. She was stunned at his harshness, she was almost at the verge of crying but composed herself. She was used to this things, how could a stranger make her feel this way, she braced herself. She had barely taken a step when she heard his voice again

"Greta should tell you what to do." And the door of the Range rover Evoque closed and zoomed out of the Estate.

Oliver helped her settle down and show her places in the house, before arriving at the servants quarters they continued walking till they got to a small room furthest from the rest of the rooms.

"Here's your room, when you are done freshening up head downstairs, Greta would be waiting for you in the kitchen." He said then bowed and left. She ulocked the door and stepped in, she was surprised at the size of the room. She had expected it to be like a shabby cottage, but it was bigger than her room back at home. There was a bed, with a wardrobe, some new bedspreads, a bathroom with a toilet, running water .....

"If I wasn't fond of you, I would have told him you were gossiping with the rest of the maids." Greta said hands on her hips. She had not realised the the water had boiled and was probably cold by now.

"I'm sorry, didn't know when I zoned out." She murmured embarrassed, she hurriedly made the coffee and took it to the maid that had sent her on the errand. She joined Greta in making lasagna, for dinner.

"You really need to stop zoning out like that, what if I wasn't the one that caught you." Greta advised looking at her sighing, and dropping the knife she held Vivian's hand.

"Whatever it is that's bothering you, it's only a phase it's going to pass, Okay?".

"It's nothing really, I was just thinking of home." She replied, she couldn't bring herself to tell her she was reminiscing about the day she arrived here.

"There's more to that, that you letting on. But it's fine, am here when you need me." Vivian smiled and patted her hand. She was surprised at how she had become this close to Greta, she was feared by most of the staffs. A maid walked in and handed Vivian the coffee,

"Sir wants you to bring it yourself." She said then walked out of the kitchen. Vivian was stunned, he had never asked to see her. She looked at Greta in fear, she had heard situations like this was only when he wanted to get someone fired.

"It's fine. Maybe he just wants to speak with you, I won't let you go that easily." She reminded her. Vivian felt relieved a bit, she took the tray and headed for the stairs, to his study.
