Police visited my sister and her family

I have seen it many times on TV, on social media sites as police officers, firefighters , paramedics visit children for some special occasion. But frankly, I thought it really had to be a very special case, but I wasn’t right.

My sister started talking to me about wanting to surprise her son with an experience like this. And I also told her I didn't think it was possible. But she said police are happy to comply with such requests. And she sent them an email introducing her family and asking the cops to take the kids to school on Dominik’s birthday.

Then, excitedly, she told me later that the police had responded to her letter and complied with that request. Of course, you should know that you don't have to pay them at all.

And of course the cops are not only dealing with the child celebrating his birthday but also his siblings, if any.
So when the big day arrived, the original plan was to take the youngest boy to kindergarten first and then another 3 kids to school. My sister told the teachers about this and everyone in the kindergarten and school was anxiously waiting for the police. Police said they would arrive at their house at about 7:10 a.m.

The kids, of course, didn’t know this, so when they got dressed in the morning but didn’t leave home, they asked why they weren’t leaving. Police called my sister that unfortunately they would be 20 minutes late due to an accident. And unfortunately, it upset the whole plan, because if they had gone to kindergarten first, the older kids would have been late for school. If they had reversed the order and went to school first, the delay in kindergarten would not have been a big deal. However, the youngest boy is autistic. Autistic people are stuck with their daily routine and a little change is very hard for them and my sister thought that if the little boy had noticed that the police car was not going to kindergarten he would have cried a lot and the experience for him and the the others would not have been as good as they wanted.

So while they waited for the police to arrive, my sister’s husband took the little boy to kindergarten, so she was unfortunately unable to meet the police. Anyway, meanwhile, the other kids still didn’t understand why they hadn’t gone to school yet. But then the police arrived and everyone was very happy. Police did not arrive empty-handed, they took a gift package to each child and took them to school and escorted them to their classroom.

The other kids were also happy at school and Dominik and his classmates blew up the balloons they got.

Overall, the surprise went well, the cops were kind, the kids were happy, and even the youngest boy received the gift package when he got home from kindergarten.

All's well that ends well :) Kudos to the police for taking time to make kids happy. Delayed or not that is all that matters. I thought it was something else when I read the title. It's not uncommon that police visits entails something bad. However, this act will hopefully change that view about the cops.

yes, the title is intentional. I tried to attract readers. Hehe 😄 And yes, lot of people don't like cops but things like this can change it and acts like this help kids to trust them too I think.

It's great to see cops spending time with children , it's a win-win thing for both sides as many cops don't get time to visit their kids but with events like they can also find and share some happiness with kids .
