The Latin name of this fruit is Syzygium cumini, with synonyms Eugenia cumini (L.) Druce, Eugenia jambolana Lam. Syzygium jambolanum. From the Myrtaceae family (family with water guava). From various sources that I read, Jamblang fruit can generally be found in tropical Asia and also in Australia.

The tree is also spread in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand. In Indonesia, especially in my province, there are so many guava trees. When the season came, the fruit was plentiful and we were very excited.

A few days ago I saw someone selling jamblang fruit and I was very happy that I bought it because this fruit was not always available. Only available in certain seasons. So, once there is definitely I will buy it. Because it's new season, the jamblang fruit that I bought is large and very ripe. So, good to eat. Added with special spices typical of my area to be even more delicious. Can also be eaten using a mixture of sugar, salt and cayenne pepper.

While local names that are well known include jambee kleng (Aceh), guava kling and nunang (Aceh Gayo), guava koliong (Riau), and guava kalang in Minangkabau. Then in North Sulawesi this fruit is known as jambulang, jambulan, jombulan, and jumblang. And there are many more names

One of the popular names, jamblang itself originated from the name of the Betawi and Sundanese people. While the term duwet is used in Java.

Jamblang fruit season
