Childhood memories part 3 : Make jump ropes from rubber bands
This is my third article which discusses the fun activities when we were young. Of course, in an era where there are lots of games, food, style, etc. Which we may never again or rarely encounter in this era. Childhood is around the era of 80 - 90. So, the things we have done will become memories because they are rarely done anymore. If one day we see things that happened in the past, surely our memories will return to the past.
This childhood activity I'm discussing is making things into tools for traditional sports or games. Games that only rely on simple tools, cheap and easy to find. You can even make your own. This time, sports equipment or traditional games make jumping ropes made of rubber which are commonly used to tie things. This time, rubber is used as a playing tool, one of which is a jump rope.
Have you ever played jump rope? If now it is called a skipping rope. The rubber jump game is usually played by girls who are played by 3 or more people. And boys also often join in this game. And at each end of the jump rope is held by 2 people. The important game of this game is who can jump the highest. Begins to jump from low to high jump. The one with the highest is the winner.
Yesterday my son asked for some money he said to buy something. When I got home I saw him carrying a handful of rubber and he said he wanted to make a jump rope. I remember it had been so long since I had made this jump rope and I had to ask where he had seen this rubber jump rope. Finally, I was taught how to make it and at first I almost forgot how to make it so I tried to practice making my own first.
At first my son had a hard time and in the end was able to make it himself until it was finished. Can you make a jump rope out of rubber bands?
Here's how to make a jump rope from a rubber band (I teach by using both big toes) How to make a rubber braid into a jump rope:
Prepare a lot of rubber bands
First take two pieces of rubber, insert one rubber into the other rubber and fold it in half.
Put another piece of rubber into the fold of the rubber, and so on until the rubber band runs out.
Finally, lock the rubber braid so it doesn't come off. The trick, take two sides of the rubber then insert one end of the rubber to the other end and pull it firmly. Done.
Rubber braid lock so it doesn't come off. If we want the rubber braid to be stronger, the rubber can be doubled.
More details like the video. You can teach it to your daughter or little niece.
There were three types of rubber jump games that we played at that time, namely :
1. Suprentul.
We call it that, if in other areas we don't know whether there are other names or the same thing. This game can be played alone or with friends in turns. Can be played on the terrace of the house or in the yard.
How to play suprentul: Hold both ends of the rubber with both hands, then swing the rubber from behind upwards over the head and when it will touch the feet, we jump so that the rubber passes over our feet and swings back from back to front. We jump again every time the rubber passes our feet. And so on.
This supernul game is very famous, especially in the world of sports, which is called skipping. The only difference between suprentul and skipping is the type of equipment used and the speed of jumping, of course.
2. Double suprentul
Actually I do not know exactly or forget, what is the special name for the rubber jump game. This game must be played by three or four can also. Can be played on the terrace of the house or in the yard.
How to play: Two children hold each end of the rubber not too far apart and loosen the rubber until it touches the ground or floor. A child stands in the middle between the two children holding the rubber. Then the two children on guard swing the rubber simultaneously from the bottom up past the player in the middle, and when the rubber passes the player, the player will jump. It could also be that when there are jumps there is a fourth player who enters and joins the players, so that there are two players who jump at the same time in the middle.
And so on until the player fails to jump then he must replace his friend to guard.
3. High jump
This game must be played by a minimum of three children. Two children are rubber holders and one child is a player. The more participants, the more fun, of course. Played in a rather wide area because it requires a footing to jump, for example in the yard or in the field.
How to play the high jump: The rubber is stretched horizontally and there must be two children guarding or holding both ends of the rubber. Hold the rubber tightly so that it is straight and does not touch the ground.
There are several stages of height to jump over the stretched rubber.
First, knee height, meaning that both guards have to put the rubber on their respective knees then the player jumps over the rubber.
Second, the height is shouldered, meaning that both guards have to put the rubber on their respective shoulders then the player jumps over the rubber.
The third in the navel, the fourth in the chest, the fifth in the ears, the sixth in the head and the seventh in the rubber are held tightly in the index finger and then the hands are raised high to point to the sky.
If a child fails to jump over the rubber, he will become a guard in place of his friend.
Does the smartest read.cash friend jump the highest?
There are many positive values โโof this rubber jump rope game:
1. Subconsciously, we have established friendships, met face-to-face with friends and then joked and played together.
2. Practice cooperation.
3. Practice patience
4. Practice togetherness
5. Train physically to be healthy
I miss my childhood by playing rubber with friends. Usually I used to play rubber in the afternoon in my friend's yard or in the field.
