In Seeds Dispersal 

When birds travel from one place to another, they transfer the seeds they have eaten from one place to another through their droppings. Because birds eat the flavourful pulp of fruit and seeds pass as it is in the droppings. Sometimes, seeds remain attached to feathers, feets and beaks of the birds and it also helps in seed spreading; this is called the dispersal of seeds. This seed dispersal is the most important ecological bird function, because many species of different plants almost entirely depend on this process for their propagation.

Killing Pests 

Birds eat a lot of bugs every year, as much as 450-500 million tons of insects a year. Birds are a natural source to control pests in gardens, on fields, and parks. For example a Barn Owl eats approximately more than10,000 mice in his total lifespan. On the other hand, these mice are enough to ruin tons of crops. Birds also eat hundreds of aphids, termites, mosquitoes, bugs and ticks on a daily basis which are a great risk for healthy crops. 

Environmental Cleaners 

Vultures are one of the most important environmental cleaner birds. They clean the environment by eating all the dead and decaying animals that can smell a lot of dangerous diseases such as rabies, tuberculosis and many others. Vultures are good scavengers and have special types of stomachs that have a lot of killing bacteria which immediately kill and digest all the rotten flesh. Similarly, crows also play an important role in environment cleaning by eating dead bodies of dogs, cats, sheep, donkeys and other animals. 

Plants Pollinators 

Bees and butterflies are not only plant pollinators, on the other hand bird pollinators such as hummingbirds, honeycreepers, honeyeaters and sunbirds also contribute well in plant pollination especially in high altitudes or hot climates. Birds transfer pollen through their bills from one plant to another, because during the process of nectar collecting, pollen is attached with their bills and transfers to other plants. Bats also play a role in plant pollination at night time. 

Birds as Food

Yes, birds serve us a lot in the sense of food, we can enjoy delicious meat and eggs of birds like chickens are the biggest source of food around the world, because approximately 52 million chickens are slaughtered globally over the year as food source, because most fast foods rely on poultry. Ducks, turkeys and pheasants are also very popular bird meat around the world. At the same time, bird meat is very healthy in terms of nutrients and protein.
