Synopsis:
After her grandfather died, Aoi – a girl who can see the ayakashi is forcefully brought to the hidden realm by the Ogre God – O-Danna-same, the Tenjin-ya Master innkeeper. The Ogre demanded her to be his bride as collateral for his grandfather's huge debt. Refusing this absurd offer, she negotiates with the ogre to work at the inn to payback for her family's debt.
Character Design and Animation
The art style of this anime is amazing. It is bright and, refreshing in the eyes to watch. The places, things, and buildings are well-detailed showing the Japanese prefectures, culture, and folklores.
The characters here are unique. Each of them has an edge over others that stands out every time they have a scene. Characters can't be possibly hated, especially when they transform into their cute Ayakashi form. They are classic but lit.
Naruto Series Ideas Spotted
I have noticed some aspects which is similar to Naruto. It makes me think if this series is based on Naruto. Well, not the whole story but just small items that are unavoidable to noticed. You can have your judgment about this.
Here is the list of what I found:
Kyuubi or the nine-tailed fox – these series have a Kyuubi character, too but his name is Ginji and its color is white unlike Kurama in Naruto that is orange or brownish.
Sasuke – the names are alike and the Sasuke herein Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi is working as the inn's security but he is not a ninja, though, they are rather known as the Kamaitachi group. Well, he got the moves of a ninja but not as powerful and as handsome as Sasuke in the Naruto series.
Akatsuki – if in the Naruto series, Akatsuki is a group of villains, here in Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi, Akatsuki is an earth spider having a job at the inn as a front desk manager. The only similar thing that he has to look like a villain is his arrogant and short-tempered attitude.
Lands and Rulers – in this series, it is mentioned in Episode 3 that the hidden realm has 8 lands with 8 rulers – the 8 Hachiyo, circling the capital land of Youto which is located in the middle.
I found this similar to Naruto's 5 great nations and 5 great Kage, except for the fact that this series has an advantage in several nations and rulers, though.
A Hinata like character – there is a character here named Shizuna. She is kind of similar to Hinata in terms of having long black hair with bangs, low and soft voice, and having low self-esteem. I found their characters a little bit similar, but of course, Hinata is advantageous.
My Most Hated Episode
Episode 14
I can't argue with Ranmaru in this episode. Well, only a pathetic and crazy person indeed would attack an enemy's ship with a Hachiyo, Inn's founder, and their employees on board with it. Given that they are powerful ayakashi, and Aoi is just a human girl, even though she got the tengu fan given to her by Matsuba – the Hachiyo of Mt. Shumon, it is no use to the spiriting away technique of Ougon-doujin – Tenjin-ya and Orio-ya's founder, even O-Danna-sama have nothing to do with it. Plus, 90% of this episode is a recap of Aoi's memories.
Most Favorite Scene
This is my most favorite episode in this series, wherein O-Danna-sama comes with Aoi in the ruins of the dragon palace to find the scale of a mermaid to be offered at the ceremony. This is where Aoi is nearly been attacked by a hungry and aggressive ogre, coming towards her with the intent of eating her but O-Danna-sama came to rescue. He fights the ogre and saved Aoi.
Then they have a moment of small confessions wherein they nearly kissed each other but when they're close enough, he kisses her in the forehead instead. I love how he respects Aoi's feelings and continues to restrain himself.
I'm still rooting for them up until now. I hope there will be Season 2 for this. I want to see them get married have kids and I badly hope this would come true.
