WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging apps that is used by many Android and IOS users. It is used by many people to connect with friends, family, and business associates. Some months ago, Facebook the parent company of WhatsApp announced that if you are using a phone that is running an older version of IOS or Android then your phone won’t be able to access WhatsApp. They went ahead and shared a list of devices that would not be compatible with the instant messaging app.
Starting November 1st Android phones running on version 4.0.3 or lower will not support WhatsApp. Apple iPhones that are running on IOS 9 and lower will not support WhatsApp. WhatsApp will work on IOS 10 and above and if you are on android then you need a device running Android on version 4.1 and above which is otherwise known as jelly bean.
Some surprising devices are on the list that I am going to share below considering the fact they are still used by a lot of people to date. Here is a list of some important phones that will not support WhatsApp again.
WhatsApp won't Work on These Phones again
Samsung Galaxy SII
Galaxy Trend 2
Galaxy Core
Galaxy Ace 2
Galaxy S3 mini
iPhone SE
iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus
Lenovo A820
HTC Desire 500
Xperia Neo L
Xperia Arc S
THL W8
Of all the devices listed above the one that surprises me the most is the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. I haven’t been able to come across anyone using the phone to confirm if WhatsApp is working on the phone or not. According to WhatsApp, the app will stop working on the devices above because they will not support the new features they plan on adding to the instant messaging app.
Let us know in the comments if you know anyone that uses any of the phones listed above and if they still have WhatsApp on their phone
