The National Memorial :
The National Memorial situated in Bangladesh at Dhaka, Savar is a symbol of the nation's respect for the martyrs of the war of the liberation of Bangladesh. It is built with concrete but made of blood. It stands 150 feet tall, but every martyrs it stands for stands so much taller. It is an achivement the dimensions of which lie measured, but it stands for an achievement, which can be immeasurable. It is stands upright for the millions of martyrs who laid down their lives so that we may stand upright, in honour and dignity amongst the nations of the world. Most prominently visible is the 150 feet tower that stands on a base measuring 130 feet wide. There is actually a series of 7 towers that rise by stages to a height of 150 feet. The foundation was laid on the first anniversary of the victory day. Standing in front of the graves the nation's bow down their heads in respect, as the towers soar up symbolising the loftiness of their spirit.
The Taj Mahal:
The Taj Mahal is a white marble tomb located in Agra in India. The Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan built it in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal who died at an early age. The Taj has an area of about 1003 acres or 405 hectares. The Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture. It combines the art of Persia, Turkey and India. It took 21 years and thousands of artisans and craftsmen to complete the Taj Mahal.The Taj Mahal is universally admired is one of the wonders of the world.
The Eiffel Tower :
The Eiffel Tower is a lattice tower in Paris. It was built in 1889. Now it symbolises the cultural icon of France. It stands as one of the most recognisable structures in the world too. The tower is famous as the tallest construction in Paris and the most visited paid monument in the world. Millions of people ascend it every year. It is 320 metres 1050 feet tall. The tower has three levels for visitors.A visitor has to walk over 300 steps to go from ground level to the first level. The distance remains the same between the first and the second level. The third and highest level can be accessed only by lift. The tower is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower.
The Pyramid :
The pyramids are huge graves for the ancient kings and queens of Egypt. This kings and Queens are known as the Pharao. It needed a few thousand to million workers to built the pyramids. The most famous ancient pyramids are Giza Pyramids. Giza is a place near Cairo, that capital of Egypt. The pyramid of Pharaos at Giza is the largest egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the wonders of the ancient world still in existence.
The Statue of Liberty:
The Statue of Liberty, originally called Liberty Englightening the world, is a statue at Liberty Island, formerly Bedloe's Island, in the harbour of New York. The statue symbolises liberty in the form of a woman wearing flowing robes and a spiked crown. She holds a torch aloft in her right hand and carries in her left hand a book inscribed "July 4, 1776". Broken chain symbolising the overthrow of tyranny lie at her feet. The statue was designed by the French sculptor Frederick Barthholdi and was given by French to the United States to commemmorate the centennial of US independence in 1876. The statue weighs 254 tonnes. Originally conceived as a gesture of international friendship, the statue has become a global symbol of freedom, marking the arrival of million of immigrants to the United States.
These places are undoubtedly too much beautiful. I wish i could visit these places.
