This article's gonna be about one of the first movies that made me go "No effin way" in the end. I'm talking about ' The usual suspects.'

This movie is directed by Bryan Singer, who's directing a lot of X-MEN movies these days. When I saw this movie, I did not know much about the cast, since this movie was released in 90s. This one stars Kevin Spacey and Benicio del Toro in lead roles. This one's also a crime thriller.

Plot

There are 5 con-men. 4 of them die in a shootout that happens on a ship. Only survivors in that shootout are; a Hungarian with half of his body burnt and the 5th con man who is injured badly. So the Hungarian is moved immediately to a hospital and the 5th con man, whose name is verbal(because he talks a lot) is called by Kujan, a detective, for interrogation about the shootout. Here, the story starts to unfold.

The story starts with the police convicting these 5 men with hijacking that they didn't do. So they plan to take revenge on the police. So when they are released they steal jewels from a smuggler. Everything goes smooth.

Then they go to L.A to sell this jewels. That's where they meet their buyer who gives them another theft assignment and that is exactly where all the problems start.

Ending

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, he's gone." Oh my god! One of the best endings in the entire cinematic history. It'll definitely rank in the top 20s. The mystery of Keyser Soze finally being unfolded was so amazing and I enjoyed it so much.

The ending is going to blow up in your face, that's for sure. This review is spoiler free, so I'm not diving into the story and who's Keyser Soze (that's literally the soul of the movie), but all you need to know it ends on a really high note.

My Take

The actors are all so good. We Kevin Spacey from a lot of movies. That guy hasn't been used much apart from being the most shady guy. He's also in horrible bosses, house of cards and many movies where's he's the man one would doubt of commiting a crime.

These were the starting days for Benicio del Toro, so you can clearly see the Spanish accent,(because he's from Mexico, I guess.) Which makes the character a lot interesting and funny. The other guys, the detective, the lawyer (well, at least that's what verbal tells us) all are very good while doing their jobs

There's not even one point where it feels like it's losing the momentum or this scene could have been excluded. No point where you'll feel it won't hurt to skip a few seconds. None whatsoever. It has nothing to do with cinematography, in fact I felt that there was nothing extraordinary about the cinematography. You obviously didn't need that spice to make a dish already so tasty.

There's not a single reason why you should watch the movie. Sure it's a little old and the LA vibes are just too bright and there is nothing beautiful about it, but it's movie that deals with things that went wrong during a lootery and the explanation that one of the survivors give.

Conclusion

If you love suspense, This is a really great movie and you shouldn't skip it. If you say you love the thriller genre, it's a crime to keep this out of the list. I won't say it's not predictable, but it won't spoil the vibe even if you predict things or not. I'll rate is 9/10. And I have no regrets being so generous about it.

That's all from my side. Like, comment and subscribe if you liked the review. Share it if you want more articles like this. Please, do give your feedback. Thanks in advance. Until Tomorrow, stay safe ❤️
