Bad Education

Hi Guys! How are you? I hope you're good. I'm @Ashutosh.S back with another article. I want to talk about the movie I watched yesterday that is 'Bad Education'.

Introduction

This movie released on 30 April 2020. This one is directed by Cory Finley and stars Hugh Jackman as the protagonist and rest of the cast includes Allison Janney, Geraldine Viswanathan and more. This movie is based on ' The bad superintendent' by Robert kolker.

Plot

This movie is based on true events. Jackman plays Frank Tassone, a meticulous, sharply dressed Long Island school superintendent who is as attentive to his personal care as he is to his students’ progress.

Now, make no mistake. He truly does care about his school (it's shown like that at least). He's so dedicated to take his school from #4 to #1. You'll think that how good a man he is.

Later on, you'll come to know, due to a small mistake of his assistant's son, that the superintendent and his assistant are involved in the biggest scam world has ever seen in a school. They stole almost $2 million from the school!

About Movie

This is the second movie from the director, and he nailed it. The accurate portray of a good superintendent actually makes you believe that the movie is about how a genius superintendent takes his school to #1 position.

The flow with which the movie moves, makes us want to know more. I haven't really given spoiler alert above, so I think I'll have to keep it spoiler free. But movie is really uniformly ascending, in context of interest.

The movie does not fail in even a single department, yet something feels missing. I mean, this is how a heist or scam movie should be made, but something felt off about it, and honestly, I'm yet to figure it out.

My Take

Let's say this is the best performance by Jackman by far. His little secret was really hidden until, well, the director wanted to show you. He's performance was flawless. You literally gasp when you find out things about him because for the first 15-20 minutes he's like the best father you could have and best husband you could have.

Talking about other cast, they nailed their performance too. Allison Janney is academy award winner and yes she justified her role. Every emotion that can be brought, were shown by her. But yes, star of the show has to Jackman at the end of the day. He steals away the show.

This movie is one of those movies that starts and ends with the same scene, but nothing is same by the end. Another example of same note is 1917. While being completely other genre, this feature is same in both of them.

I'd rate it 7.5 out of 10.
