Have you ever wondered about the present situation of our society's morality nowadays? Did you ever reflect in your own and realize something about the morals we have at present? have you tried to compare it with the morals that we had in the past? If you do, then you probably noticed the difference don't you? And finally if you manage to notice it, are you satisfied with the changes? If not what would you do? The aim of this article is to discuss about the the changes in our society's morality and how people accepts the modified reality about it.
Before we start tackling about our main topic, let us first define what is morality. As we all know the word "Morality" in its simple definition is a principle in which it defines the distinction between right or wrong. Now let me just clear this thing to you guys, Ethics and Morality though it has a lot of things in common but actually they differ from each other. Well maybe we interchangeably used these words unintentionally because it both aims to distinguish right from wrong. In fact if you're gonna ask me way back then about this topic, I will probably argue that these words were just the same, but now I could say that it's not totally synonymous.
Morality as I've mentioned above is a principle and actually is a result of our own instinct on how we perceive what is right from wrong, basically our morals comes naturally and is base from our own judgment, while Ethics on the other hand is a rules formulated and provided by the society or community to be followed by its constituents. These rules are being implemented to guide the people and to ensure the peace and order in our community.

"Being an ethically committed person doesn't automatically mean that you're a person with full sense of morality". Always remember, we all wear our own mask to conceal what we want to hide thus only revealing what we want others see or witness upon us. Yes it sounds a bit rude but it is the sad truth about humanity.
Morality, same as the other things under the sun isn't absolute meaning it change from time to time. As our society continues to change and develop, so will our understanding about what does it really means to be a person with morality.
Let me give you an example;
In Filipino culture, we strongly adhere religious matters, churches often become over crowded every time there will be a mass. But from time to time the devotee decreases even from the time before the pandemic, well I'm not saying that we are starting to abandon our faith in God but admit it or not, some of us has already put their faith into the grave. Yet the good thing in this time of pandemic is that we learn to pray by ourselves and pray not just for our own benefits but for the whole world.
Another example is our politeness especially in the minors nowadays, they seems to forget how to answer politely to their parents, the "PO" and "OPO" as a way of answering politely are sadly fading little by little.
Now lets talk about the changes in general,
In the past our norms, ethics, morals and law were based from natural law specifically the divine law, there, we believe that the holy commandments from God is strong enough and irrevocable thus people should follow in addition to our acceptance to Jesus Christ. Moreover, our government laws were created according to the morality expressed in the holy scripture.
However, there are new moralist which claims that love is the only law and when a person commit such action in the name of love, it is therefore forgivable even if in the old ways it is considered morally wrong. Let's say for example, A married man fell in love with another woman and he slept with his mistress, deceiving his wife and family and of course breaking his oath not just to his wife but to God. This situation is wrong and most of us will agree, I know that for sure. Nevertheless in new morality it is just right and forgivable for he just commit the action due to his love for the other woman.
Another situation is about live-in or living with your partner without marriage, of course it is impossible that a partner living together will not engage themselves in sexual activities wouldn't they? In the old times it's not accepted and never tolerated because it is against the divine law but why is it tolerated at present times? the answer is because the new morality which impose that love is the center of the persons perception about right and wrong is finally being integrated in the society. Same as the issue about same sex marriage though in the Philippines it is not yet accepted but same sex relationship does exist isn't it, and their existence is because we accept it and because we can adopt to any changes hence the morality we know in the past is far more different from now, and who knows? maybe one day in the future we or our descendants perhaps will live in a far more complicated but more organize morality of reality, a reality that is far more advance for us to comprehend.
Despite all of the changes, we still learn to stand firm by our own and it's a good thing that God gave us the ability to adopt and because of that we humans doesn't stop evolving. We learn a lot but remember, anything too much is harmful so let us be contented on what we have today, learn to accept the changes, open our mind, heart and soul. Let us act like humans as we claim to be the most higher beings created by God or by evolution according to Science. Let us prove that we're far more intelligent than other beings by means of appreciating ourselves, others and the modification in our rules but of course let us not forget to protect the right of the other beings because it's part of what we call morality.
