Entitlement means having the right to something, whether actual or perceived. In other words, it simply means when an individual believes something belongs to them either they deserve it or not. For instance, most people who have rich family members have the belief that all their financial needs must be met by them. This is an example of entitlement mentality.
Entitlement mentality is the state of mind which makes an individual perceive privileges as rights. People who are guilty of this act have the belief that they actually deserve whatever good things people do for them. When they don't receive a fair treatment, they'll become angry. This mindset have turned many people to beggars and paupers. It has led to frustration, constant anger and malice against people who they believe should have been of help to them.
The 10 common behaviours of people who exhibit entitlement mindset are;
1. Feelings of anger when their needs or desires are not met.
2. Mounting pressure on people who promised to help them.
3. Constant begging from people for financial assistance or otherwise.
4. Having the belief that the rich owes them something.
5. Dependence on people for everything.
6. Putting themselves in a position of pity.
7. Insulting and bitter utterances against people who refused to help.
8. Envying people who are succeeding in life because they believe it should have been them.
9. Nonchalant attitude about self development and growth.
10. Poor spending habit.
Entitlement mindset can be changed by having the belief that no one owes anyone anything. This is the first key to freedom.
