Did you know according to foreo that only 4-5% of the world's population have freckles? If you're one of them, then you're very rare. Freckles are a type of mutation in the skin cells or melanocytes; these melanocytes are located in the epidermis and it is responsible to produce a pigment called melanin. It is also said that new born babies cannot have freckles and they start to develop within the ages of 2-4 years old. However, it can also be acquired from genetic inheritance, having an error in the MC1R gene or over-exposure from the sun's radiation.
Having the said condition isn't harmful at all but the people affected by it should take extra care of their skin against UV radiation because their skin is more sensitive than other people. A person who has red, blonde or light brown hair is more likely to acquire freckles due to their low melanin content in their body. People who are most affected by it live in Ireland and Scotland.
Alicia Keys is an example that freckles can be your strong suit and will make you stand out against the others. Aside from her having a sweet and melodic voice, her freckles are also the reason why many people love her. Although many hypocrites judge her based on her external features, Nonetheless she willingly embraced her condition and prevented wearing makeup nowadays to let her natural beauty shine.
People affected by the said condition should not be alienated because they're just like us; it's just the fact that they have freckles in their face but it doesn't make them any different from other individuals because they too talk, act and think like every human being would. I also believe that people shouldn't be judged based on how "normal" they are in the eyes of the society because I believe that everyone deserves to be loved no matter how imperfect they are and having genetic mutations will make them unique and more lovable because they're special and rare. Don't be encouraged to fit in and instead stand out because you are you; you are beautiful; you are special.
