Reading is one of the four main teaching skills through which a child learn everything, communication, language and writing etc.

When we talk about kids in school, some of them always stands out as having a bright future, because of many cognitive Factors involved and other factors such as good peaceful environment, motivation, goal and extra help etc. For example, while others find it hard to concentrate, read or remember things properly there could be many factors behind it which effects their learning so they lack the ability that the other students have, another main reason is that some of them are more into sports and fun activities rather than reading or learning. This is when you should consider incorporating more fun activities into your school curriculum. Even though some children prefer sports, music, and reading. The key here is to make them realize why reading is important to your student and their education overall.

1. READ WITH PURPOSE

Reading without real-world experiences or without any purpose can sometimes be very difficult for a child to understand. It is not uncommon for children like reading novels from authors such as J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter. They have grown up watching these characters on the screen, but only for fun without any knowledge about what is happening they just start reading so they face difficulty in understanding most of the terms. We must help our kids appreciate literature as a way to learn through experience, and let them know why reading is vital to their progress. A good way to do this would be to let them read aloud at home and ask them questions like, "Who is Harry Potter and why is he important to me?"

2. BUILD CONFIDENCE

Parents should also watch out for a time when their little ones feel unsure about anything in particular like reading. Try introducing them to classic texts as early as possible so that they do not become distracted by new things. Asking them to show you their progress and what they think, will improve understanding throughout their learning process and will build their confidence.

3. BUILD A READER'S NETWORK

Children need someone who loves to read, understands and enjoys it. There are many sites online where parents can create groups. One great way to improve literacy is to encourage friends and family to share their books. Not just any ordinary books, but of different types. Kids love listening to familiar voices and having people they like reading to them makes a difference in their growth. Parents and teachers should make sure their little ones continue to grow and learn from each other.

4. BUILD CURIOSITY

Parents and teachers must never forget to ask questions about their child's reading habits. After reading a few stories to your child one day, you should have some general questions on its reading patterns to explore how much your child reads. You should also try doing an exercise involving asking questions about certain topics you feel is important to discuss. For example, you should ask her to name three main literary characters and ask her to list them no less than five times in a row. Encourage little ones to share their opinions and find other people who share similar interests to yours. From there, you can explore ways to boost their self-esteem while encouraging them to write their own stories. Once you begin asking about the importance of reading books with other kids, you should start reading with your child.

5. HELP YOUR CHILD DISCOVER SOMETHING

it is important to give children enough encouragement so that they begin to look further into the literary world and see what other things they might find interesting. You can play a game or ask your kid to tell you everything in their novel. Having all the children write their essays in your class, about the characters in their own word from their own imagination can be good, but just giving them essays to write on what they've read can be overwhelming Instead, choose an original story that gives the children something to remember.By using tools like coloring books, you can help with this task. By asking questions, you can keep them interested. The goal is to make reading come easy and natural for your children.

6. RECOGNIZE AND PRAISE

Kids love listening to stories, whether they are written by adults or narrated by others, and also love to read what they've seen or heard, Parents need to constantly monitor their child's reading habits because their attention span is short. Giving feedback on how well a child is going to read a text is especially important, especially if it is a series. Remember to never shy away from praising your child this will build their confidence and they'll start reading more confidently . Make sure these conversations become about reading.

7. BUILD VOCABULARY

Little ones will pick up words of varying meanings. So you must start building your child's vocabulary as soon as possible. Building vocabulary helps them grasp new information more quickly and understand it. A word might mean two different things to you, but to them, it means another thing entirely. So start giving them words that describe objects and people they encounter. It is best to stick to the proper spelling and grammar rules while teaching your kids the spelling. You can help them by creating worksheets or quizzes which test comprehension of new terms. The goal is to build their vocabulary as soon as possible without forcing them to memorize every single word. Use the internet for free resources and print them out, so that your child can keep finding new words regularly.

8. PRACTICE READING

If you are trying to teach your child how to read, then practicing often is the most important tool. Practice not only helps your child develop the right vocabulary but also improves their ability to read fluently. You can use a set of textbooks for your reading sessions but be careful not to overuse them. Also, try putting aside several copies of any book you plan to read to get yourself involved and help the child practice reading more frequently. At the time as the child understands how books work, you ask questions like, β€œWhat do you understand by a triangle? What is the definition of darkness? As they answer these questions, you can read more parts of the book to reinforce your lessons. Each time, the child will be able to see which parts of the book were helpful or incorrect and learn accordingly. Then you can check back and see how much the child has understood by repeating the exercises until they complete each step successfully. This is another form of practice and can help make reading one of the foundations of their life. Just like any other skill, practice builds muscle memory, but it will always carry the risk of getting bored.

So these are some of the Most effective ways through which a child can start to love reading and learn to read fluently.

Indeed it's a sad reality but if we try to start these efforts with them since beginning from their early age it would become easy for us.
