A weekend at the farm

Hello dear readers, cordial greetings and a sincere hug.

Today I want to share with you some pictures of my family weekend at the farm. The trip is a little long about 3 hours to get there, but it is completely worth it, also the trip is relatively short, because while you are on the way, you get to know places that you see on the road so it has become quite entertaining.

The heat was hellish with a temperature of almost 35 degrees, yes well not everyone likes to go to the plains for its high temperature, but for me that I had to grow up between nature and the city is normal, I could say that my body adapted to both climates, one of the problems of coming to the farm in summer time is that the land is very dry, making there a lot of dust and the latter is a problem for those who suffer from asthma as in my case .... It is a real headache to have to deal with something like this. Some of the photos I am going to show you below will give you a small idea of how arid the land is and how dry the farm is at the moment.

Something special about being able to come to the farm is being able to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city, people should try this type of disconnection, they will probably like it, because the level of peace that you can find in these places away from so much noise, sounds of cars and so many other things.... It's totally different.

Every year an irrigation system must be established, an unorthodox system consists of making ditches on both sides of the road and then making subway ditches or pipes that will be in charge of distributing water to different parts of the land in order to moisten and allow the grass to grow and the animals to have both water and food.

It is a daily occurrence to have to confine the cattle every day so that the veterinary staff can check them for diseases, something very common in calves is their high rate of cuts that later become infected and end up with worms. And believe me, this is good news, because in some cases there is no choice but to slaughter the animal.

On the other hand, we also make a kind of survey and evaluate which animal is pregnant and others that have given birth in the last few days. This way you can keep a record of newborns and others that are about to give birth.

These are some of the calves of dairy cows, they are kept locked up and then released with their respective mothers after the day is over.

Here it is very common for calves to have their belly button treated because during the first days of life their probability of getting sick is high.

The purpose of this observation process is to avoid loss of animals, another reason is to keep them vaccinated and healthy from bugs and infections.

Working with animals is not something very simple it seems, some of the difficulties are when you have to collect the entire herd and this is because it is distributed around 600 hectares. Yes, it is quite hard and some animals always end up being left behind.

As the afternoon passes, they arrive alone.... This behavior happens because they do not like having to stay alone, they are animals that at nightfall group together, this behavior is common, they do it to protect themselves from predators.
