Sea Life / See Food / Eat Food - Japanese Seafood
Went out to the beach today for some spearfishing and took in the first two fish of the year. They were tiny, but it was good to get in some diving practice and just enjoy the sunshine, and being in that crazy, beautiful world under the water. Also found a pretty big sazae — much bigger than last time — and grilled it.
This past weekend I visited the mountain city of Minakami, in Gunma prefecture, and had some fantastic seafood there, too! Some of the best sushi I've ever had, as well as their own sazae, served en fuego with some burning salt under the shell!
The place is called "Ichika," and I highly recommend it!
Aside from the delicious seafood, it was good to take in conversation with friends, some delicious craft beer, and the panorama of the lush green mountains and rivers.
As for my own catch up here in on the Sea of Japan today, in Niigata, I came away with two small mebaru — or some similar type of rockfish — and the sazae, or "horned turban shell." It wasn't enough for a whole meal, of course, but me and my fam enjoyed talking and nibbling on the day's meager haul.
Until next time!
Wow..I am really into seafoods and kinda love some japanese foods after having a japanese lunch during my job regularization in my present work.
