High blood pressure is a very dangerous disease and it is the root of many other diseases. It might be possible that you have high blood disease without having symptoms. Let us try to understand in detail what it is and what the causes are and how you can prevent yourself from this disease.

As we all know our heart works as a blood pump. Heart is made of strong muscles and these muscles contract and expand. When our heart contracts, blood flows into veins in the body and when it expands, blood comes into it from veins. It has two portions: one portion throws blood into lungs and another portion receives cleaned blood from lungs and then that portion contracts and cleaned blood circulates in the body up to every cell. Blood is like a transport system in the body and whatever the thing has to supply to anywhere in the body or bring from any part is done through blood.

When the heart contracts violently in order to throw blood to every cell, a pressure builds up in the veins. This pressure is called systolic pressure and its normal value is 120 mmHg. When the heart expands and blood comes into the heart, pressure inside veins starts gradually decreasing. The point where pressure is minimum inside the veins is called Diastolic pressure and its normal value is 80 mm Hg. This pressure of blood is present in every human. If pressure crosses the 120 mmHg limit then we can say that this person has a disease of high blood pressure. When the heart pumps blood inside the veins with a pressure of more than 120 mmHg, then this blood hits every organ with a little bit more force. In the long run, this extra force on sensitive organs starts damaging them. The most sensitive organs in our body are eyes, kidneys, and our brain. Even this high pressure is dangerous for veins of the heart as well. That’s why it is very crucial to control this blood pressure in early stages.

Now we will discuss why this blood pressure goes high. There would be many reasons behind this increase in pressure but I will share with you some common causes behind this problem. The first reason can be fatty muscles of your heart. If heart muscles get very thick then it is difficult for the heart to contract in a normal way and the heart will contract with more power which will boost the pressure inside veins. In short, if someone has a heart disease then he might have a blood pressure problem. The second reason can be your veins. Normal veins have a strong capability to contract and expand. If this capability gets weak and veins become stiff then they cannot expand properly against heart pressure then obviously they will create a high pressure on organs. There are many reasons behind the stiffness of veins. High quantity of cholesterol in the body is also a cause behind stiffness of veins. Moreover, smoking plays a vital role and leads to stiffness of veins.

It is pretty possible that you have no indication about high blood pressure disease and still you are going through it. Sometimes we get diagnosed with this disease when the kidneys start to fail or the eye side starts getting weak. In other words, this disease is a silent killer. So, the first thing you need to do is to get your blood pressure checked so that you can know about your situation. In most of the cases, this disease can be controlled without taking any medicine. You just need to maintain and improve your diet as diet plays an important role in your body. Moreover, stop smoking immediately and start exercising. Most of the time, chubby and bulky people welcome this disease so lose your weight. Try to minimize intake of salt because salt sharpens this disease. To sum up, lifestyle modification is required in order to combat this disease.
