What does Satoshi Nakamoto’s address contain? - The Cryptonomist

The creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, apparently has at least 1 million BTC in one or more addresses and they are assumed to be safe in the so-called Tulip Trust.

Regardless of who is behind the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, which could very well be a group of several people or a woman, what is certain is the data on the Bitcoin blockchain as it is public.

As everyone knows, on January 3rd, 2009, at 7:15 PM, the first BTC block was mined and this also involved a reward, the so-called coinbase, of 50 BTC. Along with this transaction, a message had been sent out with the title of the front page of the Times.

To retrieve all the information related to Satoshi Nakamoto’s address, it is necessary to start with the first block, the number 0, the one called genesis.

To check the text of the message, it is necessary to examine the relevant transaction and convert the code from HEX to ASCII:

04ffff001d0104455468652054696d65732030332f4a616e2f32303039204368616e63656c6c6f72206f6e206272696e6b206f66207365636f6e64206261696c6f757420666f722062616e6b73

or

“The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks?”

When a new block is mined, the new bitcoins, at that time 50, are also generated and an address is required to receive them.

Well, this would be the first address used by Satoshi Nakamoto, therefore it is safe to say that this address is directly attributable to the creator of bitcoin.

At present, this address has just under 70 BTC, almost half a million dollars, and has a history containing about 2000 transactions, all inbound.

Interestingly, even now it still receives BTC from several addresses, although only a few satoshis.

If this really is Satoshi Nakamoto’s address, why are there only 68 BTC?

The answer lies in block number 1, which was mined 6 days after the genesis block, i.e. January 9th, 2009, at 3:54 AM.

In this case, there is a different address which received another 50 BTC as a reward.

Following, there will be many different addresses from which the blocks were mined, though always with 50 BTC as a reward.

There is no certainty that from the second onwards the addresses are of the same person.

Indeed, it could be the case that the first block was used as a test and then Satoshi changed address or had other people mine the other blocks.
