Is is worth playing video games in 2022?
In other words, you're playing video games and fretting about what else you should be doing instead.
It's impossible for anyone to dictate the way you should feel about anything you do. Time is the only real resource we have, and how we choose to use it determines the quality of our existence. There is no one who can tell you how to live.
You're probably in this group, too. We've all tried to make changes but failed. I can attest to the fact that I have. I'm betting on you that you'll continue to play games. How can I tell? We do them because we can.
Someone who has grown up too quickly and has a lot of responsibilities will tell you that squandering time is a luxury. As a result, be grateful and not resentful. If you're going to regret it, don't do it. It will ruin the experience. Take a different path that you will not regret. That's all there is, in the end. In the grand scheme of things, no change is significant enough. But what about remorse? Even a small amount of progress is better than nothing.
Here, however, introspection has the advantage over any form of extrospection.
For a moment, pause and remember how much fun you had. What else can be found in that moment? It doesn't matter how many smartphones you've sold or how old you were when you first held someone's hand. They're all memories. Consider the tasks you should be completing instead. It's a lot of fun because you don't have to think about them. Most of us do not think about our actions until the party is over and we are forced to face the consequences of our choices.
When you're having fun, there's nothing else around but you. Think about what made it possible for you to be there. The countless eons of time it has taken for you to arrive at your present state. Science, computers, video games, and the game you just played all took millions of man-hours to develop. At the end of the day, it all comes down to one moment that will never be repeated. Fun is a profound experience if that is the only way it can be experienced.
"Because it's fun, I'm here." Fun can only be had in the present moment, not in the past or future. This is something we've seen firsthand. Positivity is bolstered by having a good time. The deeper meaning of "because they're fun" is to say this: It'd be strange not to play video games if they're so much fun. We can all have a good time.
You're obviously a hedonist if your sole goal is to enjoy yourself. It's also important to consider how you play games. For example, you may be slaying numerous monsters to rack up points; you may be retrying a level repeatedly; you may be saving up to buy new equipment; or you may simply be hiding, hoping to snipe your opponent when they spawn there.
Fun can appear to be a lot of work at first glance.
As a result, it's not all a joyous occasion. It's possible that we'll become bored, anxious, or frustrated. But because we're investing with the expectation of a return, it's worthwhile. Indeed, that is the picture of success in the world of work and the career that most people envision. Working if you don't get anything out of it is a sign that you're doing it incorrectly.
Find a way to be productive while also having a good time.
Using our own deep introspection, we've managed to deconstruct both fun and work for everyone else.
But if you take a closer look, you'll see that you're not the only one playing video games, and that the universe revolves around each of us in a unique way. In that case, perhaps your time spent playing games was fruitful.
There is always something being produced by everything. It's almost impossible to resist. It's possible that you won't appreciate or be able to see what you've accomplished.
