The cooling of the body after death is a complex process, which doesn't occur at the same rate throughout the body. The body will not cool according to newton's law. After stoppage of circulation, convectional transport of heat inside the body stops, heat generated by metabolic process of dying tissue and by the metabolic activity of intestinal bacteria, due to which body temperature does not fall for sometime.
With the start of the cooling a temperature gradient develops from the core side of the body. Exchange of heat between the surface of the body and core occurs by conduction. At first heat is lost from the superficial surface of the body.. Due to lo velocity of the transport of heat inside the body, it takes time to conducted heat from the superficial layer to the deeper layer until finally the temperature gradient recherchs the core
Internal organ cool primarily by conduction. Conductive heat exchange occurs due to the temperature difference between the body and surrounding like clothing, covering, air, water etc. The body heat is mostly lost by conduction and
In non contact area heat exchange occurs by convectional mechanism, which exceed thats of contact
Heat exchange by radiation is extensive during the first hour but decrease later depending upon the rapid decrease in the skin temperature. Only small fraction of heat is lost by the evaporation of fluid from the skin. After one hour after death rectal temperature falls a little or not at all.
The human body rarely reach the atmospheric temperature unlessthe latter is at or near freezing, probably the enzyme or bacterial action starts during early decomposition.
In serious illness circulation begins to fall before death, and hands and feet become cooler than the rest of the body, this coolness gradually extends towards the trunk. In sudden death cooling starts after death
Very good information. It is really helpfull.Although the information is fearfull but it is valuable.By the way i dont know what i am telling but just telling.
