The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday said it had not received any criticism from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The council is responding to the chairman of the task force of the NDDC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh who disclosed the amount of money received by members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Cairo Ojougboh told a newspaper that the commission had given each senator 20 million naira and each member of the House of Representatives 15 million naira as a coronary aid.

However, in a statement issued by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she denied the allegations and challenged him to publish the names of the senators who were given the money.

Senator Dr Ajibola Basiru said: “The House of Representatives has denied that any senator has received N20 million or any money from the NDDC as a coronary grant or any other reason.

"The legislature has challenged Dr Ojougboh to substantiate his allegations by publishing the names of the senators.

"If he fails to do so, the legislature needs to immediately withdraw and apologize."

Last weekend the Anti-Corruption Commission (ICPC) announced that it had launched an investigation into NDDC leaders for alleged embezzlement of N5 billion.
