December a Special month 2-12-2021 Thursday 08:00 am #65 We are in the last month of the year. So surprising how fast this year ran. When did we crossover into 2021, and now it's coming to an end soon. Three hundred and thirty-six (336) days have gone already. With the twinkle of an eye, we would be in 2022. Image source https://unsplash.com/photos/6gMrc3eeWUw **December** **D**ecember is gotten from the Latin word *dec* which means *ten.* Like the polygon with ten sides ***(dec****agon) and also the tenth family in* every organic property like the alkane family *(****dec****ane)* which is also the tenth in the group. That was in existence before the creation of two other months which are January and February. December is a very special month. It is a month of joy and celebrations. All over the world, December is always colorful and different from every other month. Right from the first day of the month, the specialty of the month shows from every corner around the world. **E**very other month is special but December is a unique one. Why do you think Jesus' birth is being celebrated by December. Almost every part of the world celebrates Christmas which is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. There is no doubt that the month is very special. **C**hristmas is the main reason behind the peculiarity of December. The red and green colors in the street. The Christmas songs we hear from stores, shops, and everywhere in the street. The lights from malls and hotels at night. **E**ven aside from the celebrations in the month, December is also a month of reunion. Everyone around the world rejoices for witnessing the last month of the year. Those that travel out will come back home to visit their family by December. **M**y plan for this month is to get the bag. I have a few exams left for this semester. Once the semester ends, I'm gonna double my hustle. Man got to have money for this December. ***My birthday is coming up on the 22nd December, and I need money to celebrate it.*** *Christmas is on the 25th like you all know, I would need money to celebrate it as well.* ***Also, we would be organizing a get-together party by December 26th which is for my set in high school.*** All these things can only be done when man has money. I need money in order to achieve those plans. I need to get new clothes and other necessary things. At least I can't depend on my parents for things like that after all they've been doing for years. **B**ack then when we were still young, my mum would have measured our legs to know the size of the shoe she would buy for us. This she does every December because our legs grow larger every year. She would buy us polos and shorts. I loved those knicker burgers then. **E**very time December is around, the joy in my heart is always unexplainable. Probably because it's my birth month or because of the Christmas chicken and food. Do I still feel this way? Of course, I do. Though we are still on the second day of December, my mind is already on Christmas already. You might call me a baby but I'm sure I'm not the only that loves this season. It is a season where the whole world rejoices that the savior is born also for being alive to see the last month of the year is a thing of joy. **R**emember this month only comes once in a year, so make sure you benefit from its blessings. No strings attached 30-11-2021 Tuesday 8:30 pm #64 It is rare to see this kind of generosity nowadays. His daughter whose name is Stephanie has a best friend in her institution whose name is Peace. Peace's parents were not well to do, they struggled to pay her tuition fee for the first session. The money they got from selling some of their home appliances and furnitures. So in the second session, the peace's parents couldn't afford their daughter's tuition fee again. The school sent a letter to them that their daughter would be evicted from the school if she doesn't pay the fees. Peace was sad and heartbroken. She is a very brilliant girl, it's a pity such a brilliant girl's parents aren't financially stable. Her friend whose father is wealthy asked her why she was sad. Peace told her about the letter the University sent to her parents. *"Don't worry, I'll help you talk to my dad" Stephanie said.* *"Thank you very much" Peace replied.* Stephanie told her dad of how peace's parents couldn't afford their daughter's school fees. Her dad told her to invite peace to their house. The following Peace followed Stephanie to their house as her dad has instructed. He asked peace some questions and saw that she was a very brilliant girl. He then told her that he would pay her tuition fee till she graduates from the University. (Peace was shocked, and she went down on her knees to thank Stephanie's dad). The average fee for a semester in the University was about $2,000. He will pay for both friends (his daughter and her friend) each semester for five (5) years. There were no strings attached to Stephanie's dad's favor. He did it out of a free will. He kept to his words and paid her tuition fee till she graduated from the institution. Peace and her parent were forever grateful to Stephanie's dad. They thank him every time they see him. God's willing in the future, Peace will repay Stephanie's dad's Favour. That is how it should be. God has blessed some people in this world with both wealth and kindness. There are a lot of wealthy men in the world, but only a few of them are generous. Some wealthy people do no favor without asking for something in return. Either they ask for sex or request for something the person can't afford. When you help someone, you don't need to publicize it and make it known to the world. They do not give willingly, they give just to get the credit and fame. People that do such i.e give and collect are nothing but ingrates. Just like the devil does, the devil can never give a man something without requesting for something in return. Those that do money rituals can tell. We all know money ritual is a devilish act. They will get the money at first, but they won't be able to deal with the repercussions. Most times they lose what they love the most, their wife, parent, siblings, and so on. Those that seek for a child from the oracle can tell of the outcome of their actions as well. The devil can not give without taking back. Why can't I take from someone I help? This is a very big question. You can take from the person you give if the person is willing. If the person has a grateful heart he/she would come without you requesting for anything in return. Even if you are going to request something in return, it mustn't be something the person cannot afford. God does a lot of great things for us, and in return, he wants us to give thanks to him and praise him. Requesting for something isn't bad. But let it be known to the person that it is by his/her own will. Normally, as humans, one should know that we need to give thanks to someone who does us favor. **Closing thought:** Give without expecting something in return. The fourth man in the fire 28-11-2021 Sunday 11:00 #63 It's the last Sunday in the month of November. We have four Sundays left after today. May God see us through the remaining days for this year to run to an end. **The Faithful God** God knows how to make things work for his children. He does things in ways we cannot see. We all go out every day he follows us wherever we go. Though he can't be seen by any man. He appears through angels just like he did with Moses. He sent his angel and appeared to Moses in flames of fire from within a bush. To show that he is God, the bush was burning but wasn't consumed by the fire. If you remember the story of Abraham in the bible, God requested a sacrifice from him, yet he provided the sacrifice himself. Humans can fail you, but God can never fail you. God's faithfulness is ever sure. Once he promises you, he can never fail you. He is an amazing God. **The fourth man in the fire** In the Book of Daniel Chapter 3, We have the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who refused to worship the golden image and serve the gods King Nebuchadnezzar told them to worship. They were tied and thrown into a burning fiery furnace, and behold, God came through for them. He showed king Nebuchadnezzar that he is the true king. King Nebuchadnezzar looked into the fiery furnace and saw four men loosed and walking about in the burning fire without any harm. The son of God appeared to his children, they weren't harmed by the fire because God was with them. If God is with us, our lives will go smoothly and peacefully. We don't need to bother about the problems and challenges in the world today. He has done it in the time past, and he can do it again. Sometimes when I think of what he has done in my life, I would say isn't this too much? That is when he would show that he can do more. These are my sponsors, I love them all. An international company came to this man's community to find graduates who have knowledge of Mechanical engineering. Out of all the Mechanical engineers that were interviewed, none of them had the interest of the company's manager. One day Company Manager was going on an important journey. Unfortunately, his car broke down on the road. God was so good, the car broke down right in front of this poor mechanic. The man opened the bonnet of his car and saw that the car's problem was something that will take about an hour to fix. The poor mechanic approached the man and said, "can I help?". I'll be delighted "the man replied". The Mechanic fixed the car within twenty (20) minutes. The car owner was surprised, the problem he thought would take more time was fixed by the poor man within a few minutes. The man was very happy and gave the poor mechanic his contact card and told him to call him later. That was how the poor man was given a contract to work with their company. Who could have thought a poor man would win a contract over young graduates. When God does his things, he does it miraculously. My fpl- Chelsea vs Manchester United 27-11-2021 Saturday 1:00 pm #62 I started playing the Fantasy premier league this football season. Though I've heard of it right before this season, but I didn't show interest in it. Early August this year, when this premier league season was about to commence. I decided to give it a try since most of my friends are also Playing the league. I downloaded the Premier League app on Playstore, signed up and that was the beginning of my FPL journey. I started as a novice, asking a lot of silly questions from my friend like Can I carry the whole Chelsea team? 😆 If a player is not playing well in a match, can I substitute or transfer him during the match? 😆 I set up my team. Bought some players with the initial 100m given to my team. I named my team **SteveLight.** We have the H2H (Head to head) leagues where you will be standing against another player in the league. We also have Classic leagues where only points of each week will be added together to know your position. **AEESSUI H2H**- My department's Fantasy football league which entails *22 teams.* **TECHITES H2H-** My faculty fantasy football league which has a total number of *36 teams* **The league of Cryptos**- A fantasy football league where we have crypto lords. There are *102 teams* in the league **Game Week 1 and 2** I had **80** points in Game week 1 and **54** points in Game week 2. My first week of playing, In the Aeessui H2H league I played against GmcArt and In the Techites H2H league I played against a Mofifoluwa In game week two, I was paired against vincenté in the Techites H2H league. I narrowly escaped a draw in the Aeessui H2H league. I won my opponent with just 1 point. **My progress so far** I did this continuously till now Game week 13, and I'm proud of myself because it's my first time playing the Fantasy premier league football. So far I'm currently in the 3rd position In the Techites H2H league. In a league of 36 teams. Being in the third position isn't an easy task. In the league of Cryptos, I'm in the 15th position out of 102 players. Isn't that grace? In the Aeessui H2H league, I'm in the 8th position out of 22 teams. I deserve some accolades despite being my first time playing the FPL. There was a particular game week that I was paired against @HappyBoy. I used my tactics and brought out my best and showed him my true colour 😂😂 Another interesting week was when I was paired against a coursemate of mine **Little blue Fc.** He had seen the standings and knew he was paired with me. He triple caped Salah that week. He didn't tell me until the match commenced so I won't do the same. He was leading me during the matches, not until we saw the final results and I won him. Salah only scored a goal. And my other players' performance was better than his. **Premier League El Clasico 😄** Steadily waiting for the outcome of this week's matches, especially Chelsea vs Manchester United. These two teams I mentioned above are always competing to know the better one. The fans of both clubs hate each other in my country. They pray for each other's loss every week. I think Chelsea's prayer is being answered the most. Because Manchester United hasn't been in form in this season. Despite having a GOAT ( Greatest of all time), they lose every week. Aside from their first match which they won 5- 1, their few wins after then were with struggle. I'm a Chelsea fan and I might be biased, but so far we all know Chelsea has been doing great. We are the **Champions of Europe** for God's sake. A King all over the world is a God in his city. Also, we are in the first position in the premier league, what else do we need to say to make them accept that Chelsea is better. This was the question we asked as students in high school. But our physics teachers explained to us that anything that goes up must surely come down due to gravity. Practicals were done to prove that what goes up must come down. We saw a lot of things ourselves that made us truly believe that what goes up must surely come down. Birds fly up high and they come down to their next to sleep. The airplane flies high up in the sky and later comes back to rest. When you throw a stone up, it comes down back due to gravity. Do you agree with this? Does everything that goes up really come down? What about age? There is a riddle that says what goes up and never comes down? He asked me why BCH was going up and down. Also told me he wanted to know who is increasing/decreasing the price. Cryptocurrencies go up and down just like other things do. We might have an increase in Cryptocurrency prices today and then suddenly it falls back. We experienced this recently, two weeks ago, BTC rose to $70,000+ while BCH rose to $700+, now both have come down. They did obey the law of gravity. Don't quote me wrong, Cryptocurrency isn't affected by the atmosphere or any physical components. Like the definition of gravity says force that attracts a body towards the center of the earth. And cryptocurrency is not a body, neither does it move towards the center of the earth. I'm just trying to make us know that the rise and fall of Cryptocurrency is inevitable, it also adheres to the law of demand and supply in Economics here. Economics thought us that the value of anything is determined by its supply and demand. We all know the basic rule of marketing, if a particular good, is being sold massively, a businessman would increase the price of such goods because of its high demand. Cryptocurrencies rise when there is high demand, i.e when people purchase them in large quantities. If a billionaire buys a particular cryptocurrency with a huge amount of money, the price of the crypto will increase. Another aid to the increase in the price of cryptocurrency is also awareness of the Cryptocurrency to the public. When a lot of people hear about a cryptocurrency and invest in it, the price is definitely going to increase. We experience this most times when a lot of people buy Cryptocurrency at the same time. Most times when we have a decrease in the price of a cryptocurrency, it is due to the decrease in the number of holders. When people sell their cryptocurrency to cash or withdraw their investment in it, we see the sudden fall in it. As a result, the supply of cryptocurrency isn't fixed. That is why we urge people to promote BCH. The broader the awareness of BCH to the world the higher the price. And we can make this happen if every one of us tries to make at least one person know about BCH in a day. By doing so, we are promoting BCH, and also we are helping ourselves. Revelation about man. (What is man?) 25-11-2021 Thursday 12:30 pm #60 **What is Man?** This is not an issue that only concerns men. It is an issue that has to do with creatures. The psalmist is asking a very serious question not just for the sake of asking but to clear his doubt and settle a confusion going on within his mind. God what do you do to man that makes him so important to you like that? he will curse you to your face and throw all manner of blasphemy at you and you will still tell him "I love you". What do you do to man that he will praise you today and say crucify him tomorrow, but you still tell him "come let's reason together". reason what? someone who denied you as his creator? What do you do to man that he will persecute you and instead of killing him because of his wickedness you still raise him and make him a national preacher, a killer? I'm at sixes and sevens, That is why I'm calling this meeting. So What is man? Angels are not given this opportunity, whenever they do err it is judgment straight up just like the case of lucifer. But you gave man the chance to still repent, what makes him different from other things you have created? Do you lose your creativity after you created man? What is man? What is man that you make him the zenith of your creation and makes him sit at the right hand of your throne, and still set him above angels and even give him dominion over everything you created, can't you use another entity, what about the 24 elders and the four-winged cherubs that praise and cry holy unto you every day. What makes a man more relevant than them. why is it that it is man you use? so what is man? When men begin to worship God it will seem as if the worship of the 24 elders and the angels in heaven does not make sense again. God would leave His throne and come down in His Glory to honour him. So what is man? Ahh! Revelations about man. There are things that will happen to man just because he found himself in a mortal body. Those are the things that comes with the effect of having a mortal body. The Bible never hid the frailty of Jesus Christ. It was recorded in the bible when he was hungry, angry, tired, etc... **1.** **Man is not God :** Many people mistake this and give the reverence they are supposed to give God to man. When you see a man performing signs and wonders, healing the sick, raising the dead, working in strange spiritual gifts, and performing strange miracles. You may want to ask yourself, "my God, is this a human being?" Let me quickly tell you the answer is yes! Men are not God it is the Grace of God upon men that makes them walk like God upon the earth. Talk about men like Moses who parted the Red sea, Elijah who called down fire from heaven, Peter whose shadow began to heal the sick. Are these really men? Yes, but when the Grace of God comes it has a way of presenting men as if they are God. **2.** Man is not omnipotent! The ability to be everywhere at the same time, even when Jesus was upon the earth He couldn't achieve this. The prophetic is an advantage but with that you still see impact look, not fully; at the side effect. **3.** **Man can't do without rest.** One of the most surprising scripture is where the bible says "And God rested". So if God should rest, surely man needs rest. The strength of a man is limited, so man can come to a state of tiredness where his body now demands for rest. **4.** **Man can't live without food.** This is also inevitable, man can come to state that his body will demand for food too. They are the true meaning of *Blood is thicker than water.* My Motivation are my **Teachers**, Lecturers, Professors, they are the channel to my success. Hold up, go slow, Traffic and Stand still 23-11-2021 Tuesday 12:00 am #58 Shout out to Kenny Blaq, the inspiration of this article. Kenny Blaq is a Nigerian music comedian. In celebration of his birthday last month, he organized a little gathering. It was there he sang the song 🎵Ibadan get ***Go slow*** 🎶Enugu get ***Hold up*** 🎵Abuja get ***Traffic*** 🎶 But Lagos get ***Standstill*** He started mentioning names of places in Lagos where there is always slow movement of cars. Nigerians will know the meaning of those words mentioned above. But for those whose country road is always free and doesn't know what those words mean; Image source https://unsplash.com/photos/oWU2w0JuHnE **Hold up, Go slow, Traffic** Hold up, Go slow, Traffic are terms used to describe snarl-up situations. It is generally called a traffic jam i.e *the period whereby cars move slowly on the road, caused by accident or any other agen*t. There are countries which experience Traffic jams every day. In my country, it has become a normal thing. We experience Go slow, hold up, traffic jam or whatever it is called every day we travel through road. **Standstill** This sounds funny but it is the truth that needs to be spoken about. Lagosians face traffic every day of their life. Every other state has this hold-up and slow movement of vehicles, but Lagos' own is exceptional. Stand still is what we have on Lagos roads every day. Civilians wake up as early as 4:00 am to go to work whose resumption time is 8:00 am. Leaving home early most times favors people. Around 4:00 am, 5:00 am, the road is always car-free. Only office workers would be on road. If eventually, one way or the other, worst-case scenario before 8:00 am you'll get to wherever you are going to. **Causes of Traffic Jam** **Potholes on roads**: Potholes are one of the causes of Traffic jams in most countries. Drivers need to slow down while passing through potholes to avoid their cars from being damaged. This leads to slow movement as many potholes can be on a single road. **Unnecessary packing of vehicles/trucks beside the road:** Some truck drivers pack beside the road and leave the truck there till their desired time. Cars will have to wait for each other to pass through the spot where the truck is packed. This also leads to traffic Jams, and most times not just one truck is packed. **Accidents:** Traffic jam in this case is always unexpected and unintentional. When an accident occurs, all cars need to wait for the emergency services to show before passing through the accident spot. Especially when there is a fire outbreak. The fire extinguisher services must put the light off first before any car cab passes by it to avoid getting caught with the fire. **Over occupied road:** When there are too many vehicles on the road, there would surely be a hold-up. This is effective when a lot of non-road-worthy cars are on the road. **One-lane In a supposed Four-lane road:** In situations whereby three different roads link to one. At that particular place, there will be a traffic jam. Then this *Standstill* started, Stuck in the middle of the road, a lot of cars ahead and a lot of cars behind. In a very hot son, we were in a bus emitting heat from all corners. And I hate being in situations like that. It affects my stomach most time, I do wonder why others don't feel the same way I do. I'm still yet to find out the reason why that happens to me every time. We spent over thirty (30) minutes on a spot. Then some passengers came down from the car and started trekking. Among those that got down from the bus was a young couple wearing the same attire. Several minutes after they left, the cars finally moved. We realized the Stand-still (Traffic jam) was caused by a truck that got stuck trying to turn on a single lane. We continued our journey, on getting to our destination, we saw the couple that came down from the car in the Traffic jam. They got there before us that took a bus. True love doesn't die We all need somebody to lean on. We need people around us that care about us. Do these people exist? There are some people who still show us true love. The fact that we are related by blood makes the love so extraordinary and special. The love from parents and siblings can't be compared with anything. Through hardship and pain, they are always there to show us love. True love exists In the family no doubt because they are always happy when you achieve great things. **In Relationships** This is a very crucial aspect of life. Before we go into a relationship, we need to know each other very well. For a relationship to last long and end well, true love must be present. A lot of people go into relationships without knowing if their partner truly loves them. Nowadays, they've changed the definition of love to Money. Once there is money, there is love. When there is true love in a relationship, they would be no problem at all. There might be disagreement and arguments, but when true love exists the beef won't last an hour before they settle. A couple had a little disagreement. The husband scolded her for doing something wrong. She got angry and told him not to talk to him again. You know how ladies her, they take things too serious. She went into the room and locked the door. Though the husband was at fault, he shouldn't have shouted at her. He realized he overreacted and went to her, he knocked on the door but she refused to open it. To show that true love exists between them. Immediately, the husband went into the kitchen and made coffee for her, he fried an egg and placed some loaves of bread with it. He took it to her and knocked on the door. There are lot of relationships that claim there is presence of love, but end being separated. My twin sister My brothers and sister must not see this, if peradventure they do, I'm sure they would wonder if I had a twin sister they don't know about. I'm the last born of my family and I wasn't given birth to a twin. Where did I get my twin sister you might be thinking. Lol... I found my twin sister from another parent. **M**y friend's friend is my friend they say. I got to know Rebecca through my friend. The first time I met her was when she visited us in our hostel so the three of us could go for a night reading together. That day I cooked a delicious spaghetti for the three of us. She finished the food and said, "thank you". I knew deep down in her, she wanted more but couldn't ask because she was shy. (Lol- if you are reading this, I'm just joking) **Y**ou know that feeling when you see something and your mind keeps directing you to that same thing. That first day I saw her, I knew there was a connection somewhere. We had just a little conversation that day, she made most of the conversation with my friend. **************************** **T**hen a day came, my friend asked me" when did you say your birthday is?". I wondered why he asked me the question because I told him already and I'm sure he knew. In my mind I thought he had forgotten, so I replied "December 22nd". Then he said, "wow! You have the same birthday as Rebecca ". **W**ow! I replied really? Same Rebecca? I needed to ask him if it was the same Rebecca because my friend has a lot of females on his contact list. He said, "yes same Rebecca that you know". I slid into her DM that day and asked her when her birthday was. And she confirmed that she was born on December 22nd. **I**f you don't know the meaning of my name `Abhay`**,** it is high time you knew. Abhay is just my own way of spelling Abbey which is the short form of `Abiodun`**.** Abiodun (Given birth to in the festive period) is the name given to any child that is born in the festive season, especially in December. **N**evertheless, the inspiration for this article came due to the conversation we both had last night. That was also part of the reason why I explained the meaning of my name. **S**o it all started yesterday when I posted an Acronym of the name `Abiodun` on my status. She replied and said her own name is `Odunayo`(festive of Joy) which also means the same thing with Abiodun. **I** asked her how we were going to celebrate our birthday. She reminded me we wouldn't be in school by then. That's true we would have vacated by then "she replied" **S**he asked me where I stayed, I told her I reside in Ogun state. She replied and Said "awwwn my state". (Her state of origin is Ogun state but she resides in Ibadan) Me: really? Ogun state is my state of origin and also my state of residence. Rebecca: What an amazing coincidence. **T**hat was where we started bringing history (lol). I thought that was all we had in common, Little did I know that we have other things in common. Rebecca: I'm from Abeokuta both my mum and dad "she added". Me: You say what? This is more than just a coincidence. My mum and dad are both from Abeokuta too. Rebecca: it's just as if we are twins I reasoned what she said and I jokingly said; Me: I would ask my mum and dad if they gave birth to twins or shared a twin with another parent. Rebecca: I'd have loved that she replied because I have twin brothers. This was the part that got my attention the most, the twin part. As I know I wasn't born a twin, I want to give birth to a twin badly. Lol, don't mind me. I'm still young and ambitious. Giving birth is not the next thing in my mind don't quote me wrong. **E**ver since I was small, I've always loved twins. My dad is a twin actually. His niece gave birth to twins. So the twinning trait is in our family. Based on our prediction, one of me and my siblings will give birth to twins. I don't want to know if any of them will give birth to twins, but I want to have twins. Specifically, they should both be females, either identical or unidentical. **R**ounding up, I told her of my interest in having twins. She said she liked it too. She was surprised when I gave her the list of some possible names I'll give my twins if I have one. Bad Influence 17-11-21 Wednesday #53 Lead image created by myself He used to be a good boy, but due to bad influence, he got himself into a very bad situation. It all started when he finished college (Senior secondary school). When he wrote his secondary school leaving exam, while others were busy processing their admission into higher institutions, Drey was feeling fulfilled. Finishing secondary school was like the greatest achievement for him. His parents were office workers, they go to the office in the morning and come back home late at night. So they don't really have time to spend with him to lecture him on the ways of life. Drey began to follow some bad friends from his street. The gang he followed was known to be full of bad guys. They smoke, drink and do fraudulent activities. He joined them in doing the fraud but resisted himself from smoking and drinking. Day in day out, drey was always among those guys. Sometimes he doesn't go home to sleep. After a while of mingling with these bad guys, Drey couldn't keep up with his word. He began to drink and smoke, he overdid it that he wasn't even looking good again. It got to an extent that he no longer goes home to sleep. He stayed in the leader of the gang's house. Another thing the gang does was Armed robbery, which Drey never knew about when he joined. One night, one of them brought a piece of information about a man who had just taken a huge amount of money to his house. The gang dressed up and covered their faces with masks. The leader of the gang told Drey to wait behind to watch over the house. Also because he is a novice and knew nothing about robbery. They went on the operation, they stole the man's money and came back to their house. Drey screamed on seeing the ten (10) million naira cash they stole from the man. Shut up "the leader shouted at him". I will follow you for the next operation "Drey said". They shared the money and gave Drey his little share. After that night, Drey was very anxious to go for another robbery. Fortunately for him, they got another robbery. As a first-time robber, they didn't give Drey a gun. They all covered their faces as usual and went for the robbery. On getting to the house they wanted to rob, they started hitting the door trying to break it down. The owner refused to open the door and called the police immediately. They shot the door with their guns, but the door was strongly built and didn't break. They told Drey to hit the door with a plank of wood. While hitting, the police arrived. The other members of the gang were experts, immediately they heard the sound of the police arrival, they fled over the fence and ran away. Only Drey was left behind, he ran but couldn't fly the fence. He tried his best but he was shot in his leg by the police. They arrested him and took him to their custody. The following day, he led the police to the gang's house, but unfortunately, they were all gone. They ran out of the area because they knew Drey was going to sell them to the police. Winter is Coming 16-11-2021 Tuesday #52 We have just two weeks left to get into the last month of the year and forty-five days left for this year to come to an end. The year is running to an end and gradually we are moving close to winter. Why am I talking about Game of thrones? If you've watched the series you will understand what Winter is coming means. **"Winter Is Coming"** is the quote that was always said by the House Stark of Winterfell. Just as every state in the country has its slogan, same is "Winter is coming" is the slogan of Winterfell. The clause simply serves as a warning and constant reminder that there Is a war ahead. To avoid accidents, Car drivers will need to use their wipers every morning, because the dew would have covered the windscreen. Everywhere is always cold and dry during harmattan season. I dare not use cold water to take my bath, I have to use warm water if I don't want to get frozen. I remember an occurrence that happened last year. A mother called his seven-year-old son to come and take his bath. Do you believe the boy ran from their house to our house crying? My mum thought his mum beat him and followed him home. It was when she got there she realized he was running away from taking his bath. During harmattan season, due to some untarred roads and streets in my country, houses will be full of dust. The plan view of houses, i.e viewing from the roof, will look like the desert in Harmattan season because the clouds of dust carried by wind would have covered the roofs of houses. If I were a superhero If I were a superhero, I would do a lot of positive things to change the world, at the same time, I would do some crazy shits. If I have the powers of doctor strange, If I am a wizard and a sorcerer, I would go into the future to see how things will be. I will use my magic powers to make this world a better place. Doctor strange is known as the Time stone keeper, I would use the Time Stone to reverse everyone back to their childhood, like I said yesterday, I wanna be forever young. I travel around the world with my magic circle. Spendy morning in Newyork, go to the Philippines in the afternoon to eat and crash at Spain at night. **If I were ant man** If I have the powers of ant-man, and I have the ability to grow into a small size like an ant, I would turn into it and go to my girlfriend's room climb into her bed and scare her (laughing). I wanna be forever young When I think of my childhood, I wish I can go back in time. Sometimes when I think of all the benefits you have as a child, I wish there is no physical growth in humanity. The joy we felt then, playing in the rain, having no grudges against anyone, living a stress-free life, and other childhood memories. As children, we don't have things bothering our minds. All that was in our mind was to play and eat. No house chores, even if there were it will be easy work. Education was fun for us as children, though we do run away whenever it's time for school. Break time for us was playtime, running up and down in the school premises. But now we've grown up, those things we used to do, we do them more. But now, man's got a lot of things on his mind. As we grow physically Day by day, the same way we want to grow educationally, financially, and mentally. Today, my roommate's little brother in junior school came to visit. His brother asked, "Have you done your assignment?" No! "He replied". He brought out the assignment, within three (3) minutes he was done with it. I was shocked and later came back to my senses that it's the norm. Not compared to now, even if you don't have assignments you must read your book for tests and exams. Growth According to the mobile dictionary, Growth is the increase in size, shape, or number. Growth in human beings is a natural thing God has made and man can change. I've never seen or heard of someone who doesn't grow in age. No matter how short or small a person is, one will definitely increase in size, different from how he/she was born. **Death** As no one can stop Growth, the same way no man can stop death. Doctors do their best, but if a man is destined to die at a particular moment, no Doctor in this world can save such a person. Everybody wants to live long, nobody wants to die. No charm or medicine can stop Growth also no charm/medicine can stop death. If it's possible to do a no-death charm, herbalists won't grow old not to talk of dying. Wisdom is mightier than power 11- 11- 2021 Thursday #48 I was told the story of a very powerful man who once lives in front of our house. The man was very huge and he had muscles. He does exercise and lifts the weight outside his house every morning. Childrens in the street calls him the Big man. The man was always proud of his fitness. Other men in the street dare not attack him for doing something wrong, because they know what the outcome would be. A lot of people fear him in the street, they give him a lot of respect because they know if they pass their boundary, he would destroy their faces. One day, a man who came to visit one of the neighbors in the street challenged the big man due to what he has heard about his pride and arrogance. He then told the big man that all his power is nothing compared to what he is capable of. The big man laughed and laughed because this man that challenged him had no muscle. They challenged each other to carry ten (10) bags of cement each from one end of the street to the other end. Our street was one of the longest. It is over 200m long. They placed a bet on it, that anybody that wins (takes all the cement to the other end of the street) takes all the money. They called some people out to witness their bet. They ordered 20 bags of cement, 10 for the big man and 10 for the other man. They started the challenge, Immediately they started, the big guy carried two cements, one on the left shoulder and the other on the right shoulder. He started moving fast with 50kg cement on both shoulders. The other man couldn't even lift a cement, not to talk of carrying it a long distance. To show that wisdom is mightier than power, the man called a tricycle and loaded it with the cements, and drove it to the end of the street. He got there, offloaded the cement, and paid the driver. Minutes later, the big man showed, sweating with the two cements on his shoulder. When he saw the man at the finish line already, he was shocked and didn't know when the two cements he was carrying fell and burst. What's all this? How come? This is a cheat!! "The big man shouted angrily". By that time, a lot of people have gathered around them. The witnesses of the challenge came and gave the money to the winner. It's not by power "the winner said". In our agreement which a lot of people witnessed, we said the first person to take the cements to the other side of the street. We never said with the use of shoulder or without the use of vehicle, did we? No!!!!!!!!! "the witnesses replied" The big man became ashamed as the people of the street mocked him. He never expected what happened. It is this shame that made him pack out of the street a week later. **The Bible proves that wisdom is greater than power** The books of Ecclesiastes 9:16 and Proverbs 24:5 shows that Wisdom is better than power The bible also said; wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom and in all your getting get understanding. If you have wisdom, there is power embedded in the wisdom. You can do anything with the wisdom of God. King Solomon never asked for power, yet he became the wisest and richest king in history because he asked for wisdom and knowledge. So many people have the resources of being great in life, but they don't have the wisdom to utilize them. The rich and famous people you see in the world today made use of wisdom. Some pursued what they know they are good at doing, while some tried something new, something that has never been done before. Isn't that wisdom? Let's be mindful of what we ask for. Myths our parents told us My country! My country!! My country!!! The home of Myths and superstitions. Growing up, our parents told us a lot of myths which we took seriously then. Some of which they believe is true. **Lead image source** https://unsplash.com/photos/kj64H6PNm_M Most of the myths they told us were actually for our good, they wanted the best for us and wanted to teach us about life. Let's start with **Arodan.** What is **Arodan**? Arodan has no meaning. There is no object or body like Arodan. I.e it doesn't exist at all. It is just a word used by the Yoruba parents to keep a child busy whenever they are being disturbed by the child. I remember very well when I was still small. I wasn't really small though, for me to remember. I've been disturbing my mum all day that I wanted to buy ice cream. She couldn't bear my disturbance any longer. She then asked me if I will take **Arodan.** She said Arodan is sweeter than ice cream. As a child that I was, I was very happy, that I will taste something sweeter than ice cream. She told me to go to Mummy Ibeji ( a friend of hers) to collect Arodan. I ran to Mummy Ibeji's shop to go and collect my Arodan. On getting there, I told her my mum said I should come and collect Arodan. She laughed and said, " *sit down, it's on its way, someone has gone to buy it*". I sat down in her shop for hours expecting the person who went to buy the Arodan. Lo and behold, I slept off in her shop. It was when my mum came late in the evening and woke up I realized I was fooled. Since that day, I never fell for the Arodan thing again. Nowadays most children already know what Arodan is, there is no fun in using the word as a parent again. They use the words amongst themselves in school. Only a few of the children nowadays don't know the meaning of Arodan. Now to the other myths, I listed some of the things I believe are untrue. My dad does call me Thomas ( the doubting Thomas). Because whenever they tell me most of these things, I go against it and say it's superstition. **If you use a broom to touch/beat a male child, his manhood will disappear.** This is completely a myth because if it is true, many males in my country will be impotent today. Mothers are good at using a broom on you when you are being stubborn. **If a little child has hiccups, if you cut a little piece of the wrapper and place it on the baby's head, the hiccup will stop.** This I believe a little bit because it once worked before. It was placed on a child's head, and the hiccup stopped. But I doubted when I did it for another baby and it refused to stop. Then I believe the former was a coincidence. **Do not use the water you use in washing your clothes to wash your legs, else you will be lied against.** This is a 100% fallacy. I believe there are a lot of people who don't do that and yet they are being implicated and lied against. **Do not talk when you are removing the feathers of a chicken, if you talk its feathers will grow back.** As a child, I talk a lot whenever we kill a chicken and my mum is removing the feathers. They had to stop by saying if I keep talking, the hair will feathers will grow back. And I always want them to finish it quickly so we can eat. So I'll keep quiet and watch as she removes the feathers. And it seems true, because sometimes I will intentionally talk, and it will look like the feathers are increasing. I believed this till I grew up and came to my senses that how will mere talking aid the growth of a dead chicken's feather. **When you want to cut a chicken's Gizzard into two, you must say -** ***ha ha ha.*** Reason unknown till today. It is just being used to fool children, no particular reason for saying the *ha ha.* My dad no longer does it tho. Cz the last born of the house (myself) is no longer a baby, so he needs not to fool us again. **When you see a snake (ejó), don't call it snake (ejó), call it Rope on the ground (okunlé). It will prevent the snake from biting you**. What the actual F? Calling a snake by another name will prevent it from biting you? They believe in it though, but I never believed it. **Do not eat the meat before you finish your food, eat it when you're done.** This isn't a myth, it is just how they know how to raise children in the right way, to make us contented with what we have. **If you put a dog's rheum (ipin) in your eye, you'll start seeing ghosts.** I partially believe this, because I've always been scared to try it. We have a dog, I could have practicalized it, but I can't risk it and start seeing ghosts. But one part of me still believes it's a myth. **Do not spit on the floor, if you do so and another person steps on it, you'll have a sore throat** Spitting on the floor irritates people, especially when you don't rub it off with your feet. That is why they brought up this myth. And sometimes when you feel sore throat, you'll start thinking if you had spat somewhere You know all these things are actually based on your beliefs. Though some might not be true, but if you put your mind to it and believe it will happen, it will definitely happen. That is life for you, you let your mind decide for you. Their friendship was cool and smooth throughout the first semester. In the second semester of their 100level, the friendship was destroyed due to jealousy. Best friends suddenly became greatest enemies. The Enmity started in the first week of resumption in the second semester. Few days after they resumed for the second semester. After a lecture, Eniola was outside the hall talking to David. David who happens to be a coursemate of theirs. He is a very handsome and light-skinned boy. Most of the girls in the class (including Dorcas) always like to be around him. So, Dorcas started looking for Eniola, fortunately, she found her outside talking with David. From a far distance, Dorcas shouted "Enny let's go home". I'm coming " Eniola replied". It wasn't up to a minute, Dorcas shouted again "Enny it's time to go home". I said I'm coming! "Eniola shouted at her angrily"That made Dorcas angry and she took a cab and went to the hostel. Hours later Eniola came back to the hostel. She knocked on Dorcas' door, but she refused to open it. Eniola knew something was wrong, she went into her room. The next morning, Eniola went to meet her in her room, she opened the door this time around. **Eniola:** Good morning **Dorcas:** Guuu moorn. **Eniola:** What's wrong na, why are you showing me attitude. **Dorcas:** Nothing **Eniola:** Why didn't you open the door when I was knocking yesterday. **Dorcas:** Why would I open it? When I was calling you when you were talking with David yesterday did you answer me? **Eniola:** I said I was coming, whereas I can't leave David there standing now **Dorcas:** So David is more important than me.z **Eniola:** ok I'm sorry The conversation ended there that day. But it was obvious Dorcas reacted that way for a reason. It happened to be that Dorcas has feelings for David, but was shy to tell him. How will a girl ask a guy out was all that was in her mind. But instead of her telling Eniola about her feelings for David, she didn't. Eniola never knew she had feelings for David. Meanwhile, David on the other hand is in love with Eniola. On a fateful day, He called Eniola and told her he liked her. *Lol, are you serious? "Eniola asked* *Yes I am "David replied"* *Why me? Out of all the girls in the class.* *There is this special way I feel around you. "David said"* *Hmmm! I'll get back to you, but for now, I'm going to my hostel "said Eniola"* She took a cab and went to the hostel. Later that day, Eniola told Dorcas of how David came to ask her out. Dorcas gave a fake smile and said " what did you now tell him?". I told him, I'll get back to him"Eniola replied. Dorcas still didn't tell Eniola she likes David. After several days of David following Eniola up and down on the same matter, she finally agreed, then they started dating. Ever since then Eniola was always hanging with David. The whole class noticed the two are in a relationship. Dorcas and Eniola no longer walk together on campus again. The only time they are always together is when they are in the hostel. This made Dorcas angrier and was willing to have David for herself. On this great day, the Department of Medicine was having their dinner night. Eniola wasn't at the party yet, Dorcas was there already. She saw victor sitting alone, and she moved close to him. She confessed to him she liked him and told him she thought it wasn't right to ask him out then, but now she thinks it is no big deal. But you know I'm now dating your friend" David replied". While they were still talking, Eniola walked in and saw Dorcas holding David. What is happening here? "Eniola asked" Nothing "Dorcas replied"and she left them. David who doesn't know how to keep things to himself told Eniola of how her friend came to ask him out. This made Eniola angry. She stood up immediately, walked up to Dorcas, and pushed her to the floor. How dare you? Eniola shouted. Dorcas who had grudges against Eniola before stood up and slapped her. This was how the fight started between the two best friends. They fought till they get themselves injured. Unfortunately for them, the SDC (Students disciplinary committee ) was passing by with their vehicle. They saw the two girls fighting and took both of them into the van. They both faced the SDC and they were both expelled because it is in the school rules that any form of fight will lead to expulsion. David remains a student in the institution, while the two friends fighting over him were sent away from the school. **The end.** **Question:** who is at fault? Eniola, David, or Dorcas. **Lesson:** Do not let anything be a means of destruction of your friendship with someone. I'm outside the lecture room, standing under the tree shade.* **Dorcas:** *ok, I'm coming* **Eniola:** *Alright, I'm putting on a pink cloth.* **Dorcas:** *ok* While on the phone, Dorcas could see Eniola from afar. She got to her place, they both hugged each other. They gisted for a while, telling themselves how happy they are to finally resume and see each other. From there they both went to the next lecture together. Throughout that day, they did all things together. They sat down together and in all the lectures they had that day. They even went to the restaurant to eat together. They finished the last lecture for the day around 3:00 pm. After that, they went to the admission office for Registration. By the time they got there, they met a lot of students there already in a queue. They joined the queue. An hour later, they closed the registration for that day. Meanwhile, Eniola and Dorcas were still in the queue. Why would they stop the registration? "Dorcas said". The registration was meant to close by 5:00 pm. The students murmured as they left the queue. Eniola and Dorcas were already tired. "it seems this is where we will separate paths for today, I'm going to my hostel" "Dorcas said to Eniola" **Eniola:** Which hostel were you allocated to? **Dorcas:** Marere, you? **Eniola:** Really? I'm also in Marere **Dorcas:** wow! then let's go to the hostel together (The two friends smiled. They took a taxi to their hostel) When they got to their hostel, they got to the hostel. Coincidentally, their rooms were both on the second floor, not just on the same floor, also beside each other. Due to the COVID-19 safety protocol, the school allocated two students to each room. Dorcas' roommate has just brought a few of her loads and has gone back home, while Eniola's roommate hasn't been in school yet. So both of them were yet to know who their roommate was. They both laughed because they knew truly they were destined to be friends. `Truly they were destined to be friends, because how come it was Eniola's DM Dorcas went to? How come they both offer the same course? How come they both stay in the same hostel? How come their rooms were beside each other?` They went into their separate rooms. They didn't even bid themselves goodbye, knowing fully well they would still see each other for the rest of the day. As soon as Eniola entered her room, she called her dad and told him how stressful the day was. She has never passed through such stress in her life. Immediately she hung up the call, she dozed off. I'm coming.* Meanwhile, the whole time Eniola was sleeping, Dorcas was busy cooking for the night. She made Rice and stew for both herself and Enny. She entered Eniola's room with two plates of rice, one for herself, one for Eniola. Eniola was very happy and said, "*thank you very much*". One thing Eniola doesn't like doing is cooking. At home, she doesn't cook, her mum does the cooking at home. She only goes to stay with her mum in the kitchen sometimes, and most times she was either forced by her dad or she was very hungry. While eating, the following conversation took place **Eniola:** Thanks for this food o **Dorcas:** what are friends for? **Eniola:** I don't like cooking **Dorcas:** Lol. you don't like cooking? With all these foodstuffs I'm seeing in your room. If you don't like cooking why did you bring a bag of rice and beans. Isn't it too much? **Eniola:** My dad bought them for me, they believe as I'm now in University, I'll surely learn how to cook. **Dorcas:** That's true though, No one likes cooking, but we have to, won't we eat? #1 A new life- The beginning Her dad drove in with a bag of rice behind and half bag of beans in the car's boot. Her mum had bought other foodstuffs right before that day. While her mum was still packaging some goodies for her, Eniola was packing her luggage while her younger siblings were taking the luggage to the car. In the bags were her clothes, bags, shoes, and so on. She gained admission into the University of Lagos recently.0 She is aspiring to be a medical Doctor. Her parents were very happy as their firstborn is leaving them to go to a Higher institution. The younger ones knew nothing, they were just jumping around singing "sister Eniola is traveling, sister Eniola is traveling" They finished packing the foodstuffs and other loads, the car's trunk couldn't contain her loads, they had to put some in the car's seat. Her dad took his car key and went into the car. Eniola! Let's go "Her father called loudly". I'm coming sir "she replied". As she was about to leave, her mother prayed for her with tears in her eyes. Why are you crying mummy? "Eniola said". It's tears of joy "her mum replied". Goodbye, my love, be a good girl, Goodbye, mum. She got into the car. They took off and started their journey to Lagos. While in the car, her dad gave her a piece of father-to-daughter advice. Dad: Eniola! Eniola: Sir Dad: As you are going to school, make sure you face your studies, do not engage yourself in bad activities. Don't let the bad ones entice you... After 3 hours journey, they got to the University of Lagos. Her dad drove her to the front of her hostel and paid two male porters to help her take her bags and foodstuffs in. When they finished packing the loads, the following conversation took place between the father and his daughter. Father: Eniola, I just sent 500 thousand naira into your account Eniola: Thank you, sir Father: Make sure you spend it wisely and buy the necessary things you'll need. Eniola: yes sir. Father: Bye, take care of yourself Eniola: Bye dad Her dad entered his car and drove back to Ibadan. Eniola went into her room, swept the room, emptied her bags, and arranged everything in the right places. By that time it was 6:00 pm already, she was tired. What a loss! `Date of publishing: 6-11-2021` `Time: 10:30 pm WAT` As of yesterday night, a friend of mine was physically, mentally and emotionally down. We tried to console him but it isn't easy to get it off one's mind. It got to an extent that we were calling his name, but he wasn't hearing us. I wouldn't want to mention his name here for some reason. We had to tap him hard before he came back to his senses. He was in deep thought. What happened to him? He just bought a new iPhone-X last month. While coming from work yesterday, he misplaced the phone. A new phone that he hasn't used for up to a month. He works in a factory where he earns 10,000 naira per month. Imagine the number of months he used to contribute 200,000 naira to buy the iPhone. We spent most of the time yesterday consoling him. That is not just the only problem, He recently received $500 worth of BTC (Bitcoin) which he said his Uncle sent to him. The Bitcoin went with the phone he lost. Now, the mistake he made was not writing down his Seed/Recovery phrase. In his words, he said he took the screenshot of the recovery phrase. The only way he could have recovered the screenshot was if he backed it up on Google Drive, but he didn't. If he had written down the Seed/ Recovery phrase, it would have been easy for him to recover his Bitcoin later. But now his iPhone is gone and his $500 worth of Bitcoin is gone. Isn't that a Double loss? I decided to drop this because I believe someone might learn from his experience. Especially the newbies here. If he had taken heed of my warnings and had written down the Seed phrase, the Bitcoin loss would have been prevented. I followed him back to the factory he was working to check if we could find it there. We searched the whole place we couldn't find it. We trekked a long distance looking by the roadsides for the lost phone. On a normal day, we would have taken a taxi because the distance was too far. But because of the phone, we were looking for, we had to trek. Unfortunately, we still couldn't find it. **How to find your seed/recovery phase** I always like to start with the **Bitcoin.com wallet.** If you are using the bitcoin.com wallet, it is quite easy to get your recovery phrase. **STEP 1:** Once you open the app, click on settings. **STEP 2:** Click on Backup and security. **STEP 3:** Click on Manual backup **STEP 4:** Click on the wallet you want to backup, on the page you will find twelve words, that is your seed/recovery phrase. If you are using **Trust wallet** **STEP 1:** Open the Trust wallet app **STEP 2:** Click on Settings at the right bottom corner **STEP 3:** Click on wallets **STEP 4:** Click on the three dots beside the multi-coin wallet. **STEP 5:** Click on the show recovery phrase. You'll find the twelve recovery phrases. I believe with the steps above, it will be easy for you to find the recovery phrase of any cryptocurrency wallet you are using.
