Mediterranean fruit that is often called the "cure for everything".
Lemon is a fruit of the citrus family, cultivated millennia ago in Asia where it arrived in Europe, more precisely in ancient Greece.
Namely, the ancient Greeks got acquainted with this fruit thanks to the Macedonian king Alexander the Great who brought it from Persia.
That is why the Greeks gave it the name Persian apples, but the origin of the word lemon is from the Persian origin of the word Limu.
From Greece the lemon traveled to the Roman Empire where it became so popular that it was a must-have supplement during military campaigns and thus spread to other Mediterranean countries including Spain, from where it was brought across the Atlantic to the American mainland by Columbus-led ships.
Today, California and other states on the US West Coast are among the largest growers of argum.
Also, thanks to the sunny Mediterranean climate, the Croatian coast is rich in this fruit rich in vitamins and minerals, writes Vipnet.
Because vitamin C plays an important role in collagen production, perhaps a daily dose of this citrus vitamin is responsible for the high lifespan of Dalmatians.
Lemon has always been used for many purposes, so the nobles in the court of King Louis XIV of France used it to improve the appearance of their lips, and today it is a popular ingredient in natural cosmetics.
In aromatherapy, the essential oil obtained from its bark is used for mood and concentration at work, ie for enduring effort.
It takes about 3,000 lemons to get one liter of essential oil.
Here are two ways to apply the benefits of aromatherapy:
1. Put 5 drops of lemon oil in an aroma lamp container with water.
The heat from the lamp will heat the mixture with water and lemon oil which will gradually evaporate and an extremely pleasant smell will spread in the room.
2. In the winter, instead of a scented lamp and an ordinary bowl of water can be served in which we drip 5 drops of lemon oil, which is then placed on a heated radiator or heater.
We will get the same result as in the previous case.
Lemon is known as a "cure for everything" because its peel and juice are a rich source of antioxidants such as vitamin C and flavonoids that protect cells from aging, infections and many health problems, and also contain minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
The juice is used to make a great refreshing drink, which is recommended to be consumed every morning before eating, and in the treatment of colds or flu, it helps if we drink lemon juice with lukewarm water every two hours.
In cooking, lemon juice is used, among other things, as a substitute for vinegar in marinated vegetables, fish and white meat because it softens foods that do not change the smell.
Lemon peel enriches the aroma of many salty and sweet recipes, and is also used in making liqueurs and many famous drinks such as the Italian liqueur - LIMONCELLO (Limoncello).
