A solar cell developed by a team led by young Pakistani scientists has set two new records for energy efficiency. In this way, the sun will help to generate abundant electricity, on the other hand, it will be possible to reduce global warming in an environmentally friendly way.

Yasir Siddiqui, from Faisalabad, is currently affiliated with the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) at the University of Science and Technology, South Korea. As central scientist, he has been instrumental in designing and manufacturing a brand new solar cell called Copper Indium Sulfo Selenide (CISSE).

This solar cell has been stabilized by adding a special solution and the full name of the cell is a bit longer which has been named as 'Solution Processed Coprandium Sulfo Selenide (CISSE) Loband Gap'. Although it has set a record for efficient electricity in the same condition, it also set a new record when a thin layer of prosciutto was applied over it like a sandwich.

It is important to note here that the energy required to release electrons from a semiconductor is called band gap, that is, the smaller the band gap of a semiconductor, the greater the flow of electrons and the same amount of electricity. Will become

150 million kilometers away from us, the sun is the largest source of heat and energy on earth. The splendor of life is also associated with this star. Plants make food and oxygen from the sun and the weather on earth. Theoretically, full sunshine can generate 1360 watts of energy per square meter. But a large amount of it collides with the solar cell and returns, passes through or is converted into electricity. In this way we can convert only a small percentage of the sun's heat and energy into electricity. This is commonly called solar cell efficiency.

Dozens of types of solar cells are being made and used in the world. They are also distributed and described in first, second and third generation solar cells. Each type of solar cell has its own strengths and weaknesses. The efficiency of conventional silicone solar cells is 15 to 20%. In addition, the efficiency of a concentrated solar panel reaches 41%, but it has to reflect the sun's rays from the mirrors in one place.

However, the solar cell developed by Dr. Yasir belongs to the type of sandwich or tandem and is also the most effective invention in this field. The preparation of the revolutionary cell involves three years of hard work. Of these, only the CISSE cell has an efficacy of 14.4%. When combined with the prosciutto mineral, this prosciutto, the CISSE cell touched 23.03 efficiency which is a new record for the perovskite / CISSe solar cell produced by the solution process. is also.

Both inventions have received regular certification from the Photovoltaic Test Laboratory at KEIR. The laboratory is also an ISO / IEC17025 Certified Test Center which has been given the status of a competitor by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (COLAS). It should be noted that Kolas has also signed the agreement of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement. The invention patent will be filed soon. The whole story of the innovative solar cell has been published in the journal 'Energy and Environmental Science' of the Royal Society for Chemistry, with 38,532 impact factors making it the world's leading scientific journal.

"This is the most significant and influential research published by KIER in the last few years," Siddiqui told….

The old record of this type of solar cell was set by Chinese, American and Australian experts with an efficiency of 13.5%. But to make this cell, a special enclosed environment is called 'Globebox' and it is filled with nitrogen gas. This is why it is impossible to produce large quantities of it in a factory because large amounts of nitrogen and its management make the whole process very expensive.

Yasir Siddiqui added a magic ingredient that stabilized the CISSE solar cell and that it was a molecular ink.

"We built the cell in the open air and at room temperature, which eliminated the need for nitrogen. To form a thin layer of CISSE, it contains NN Di Methyl Formamide (DMF) molecular ink that stabilizes complex chemical electron components.

At the next stage, the experts performed air annealing. In electronics, basic materials are first heated and then cooled to a certain temperature, called air annealing, to enhance their structural, physical and visual potential, and to remove waste products. This allows not only the light-absorbing layer to be free of carbon particles, but also to control the process of crystallization as desired. If the rate of crystal formation in the basic components is smooth and refined then there are many benefits.

Experts tested four identical models of solar cells with hot air at 210, 230, 280 and 330 degrees Celsius. At 230 degrees Celsius, the solar cell showed its best potential. Thus, CISSE Solar Cell set a new world record of 14.4 frugality.

Each new cell was used in conjunction with Proscite, hence the name Proscite, CISSE. Sandwich style, the efficiency of this cell was 23.03 which became another world record. Thus, Dr. Yasir's invention has created two records in this category of solar cell.

As far as Prosciutto is concerned, this mineral was discovered by Russian experts in the mid-1800's. It can extract thin solar cells. Secondly, additional efficiency can be achieved by applying it on top of another type of cell layer, which can be seen in this new invention.

Solar cell sustainability is the most important aspect of this. Solar cells made of conventional silicone last for 20 to 30 years in all seasons and any good cell must have these properties. KIER's new solar cell has also been found to be sustainable.

"This new solar cell has been in my laboratory for the last one year and so far its efficiency has not diminished," said Yasir Siddiqui.
