His first encounter with music was in his fifth year, when he received a harmonica as a gift from his father Marko, with which he entertained children from his street, and passengers on a boat on the Split-Vela Luka route. Beginnings on stage His first pop performance was at the Split Children's Festival in 1961 with the popular song Baloni. Simultaneously with his brother Aljoša, he recorded the then famous world hits for the radio station Split. As early as 1963, he rehearsed with great success as a singer and keyboardist of the cult Split band Batali. At the competition of amateur Croatian singers, he won first place by singing Yesterday.
