Globalization in the Context of Complexity
Globalization is a process by which people and goods transcend boundaries. However, according to the "Globalization Documentary," produced by systems innovation, it encompasses the aforementioned statement about globalization and is defined rather, as the process of the formation of a global model of economic organization. While some are perceiving benefits from it, the existence of distorted management, dictated the critical challenges faced globally. The documentary shed light on the issues of globalization, which can be broken down in terms of global systems, interdependency, global networks, and economic development, including the potential solutions to manage the challenges.
Globalization is composed of people and organizations, forming connections on a global scene. From there, it discusses the role of the rapid development of information exchange or the rise of cross-border data around the globe through the rise of global networks. According to the documentary, “the new and more complex reality of digitally connected flows of data, interconnects the global economy.” This is now called the fundamental, “building block,” of globalization connectivity, carefully dismissing the traditional way. The exchange of goods is no longer the central component of globalization, but instead information. Now, it’s more about how businesses are taking place across borders, how human interactions and competitions happen, and where opportunities and benefits are floating.
Since globalization is taking a new form, needing a new working structure globally, the process holds out extraordinary opportunities. Although it is still a work in progress up-to-date, the vast utilization and application of technologies all over the globe increase the capacity to duplicate institutions that have proven effective on one part towards creating solutions to a series of problems and allowing rapid economic development to take place on another. This simply proves the need for globalization of a new intelligent approach that will satisfy its needs to bring optimal results, such as information exchange channeled through the network society and lower boundaries.
At the heart of this article, is a design to present both the positive and negative issues faced by globalization dating from before until today. This is precisely a new level—a new world of complexity that is bound to grow and continuously develop with constant new approaches, in the long run, to uphold its needs to operate globally. Instead of individual parts, it’s about global systems, interdependence, having boundaries and connections at the same time, and building market mechanisms, that are fundamental for the next generations to come--living in a more digitally developed globalization.
