Celebrating my daughter's birthday in a simple birthday dinner with the family
Ten years ago, I met this wonderful girl who made me fall in love deeply.
But it felt like what we had isn't ten years, the time flew too fast and my own she's a teen, already showing signs of puberty and is already in 5th grade, being curious about life.
Yet to me she's always my baby no matter what and I love her more everyday, but not only her, I love her siblings too.
She was very excited of her birthday, just like we always did in our younger days. We had a tight budget and so I did not promise her anything on her day but What God provided was more than enough.
We did not expect that my husband would receive his quarterly allowance and I asked him for some to buy cake, coke and ice cream, something kids would love in their birthdays.
My mum also donated two of her chickens for viand, since my uncle and his family is now temporarily living at my mum's supposed to be boarding house. And my lovely sister made chicken soup and chicken adobo with it.
Funny because I heard Nathalie said to my daughter, birthday diay nimo? Mingaw lagi kaayo? (Is it your birthday? Why is there no preparations?
Perhaps she got used to extravagant birthday celebrations like she has witnessed but I hid the cake , coke and ice cream in the sister's fridge to keep them cold.
I actually planned on going home early that day from work so I could do all the preparation but the audit we expected the next day that day happened that day leaving me no choice but to stay and accommodate the auditor's needs and requirements.
I rushed home when the clock hit 6 in the evening, good thing immediately hired a tricab that passed by and stopped on a bakery store.
Going in, I immediately noticed the lovely designed cakes they sell as well as other delicious pastries too.
Their best seller is their famous caramel cake, I could have bought that one but my husband doesn't like caramel and besides, my daughter likes purple.
The sales clerk was fast! She writes dedications on the top of the cake skilfully and there I noticed they were selling ice cream and coke too which made my buying easy. It was heavy so I called my husband to help me yet it took him too long to come and had met me near our house.
When I arrived home, I noticed the birthday girl is nowhere to be found, and then a little later, the husband got furiously bringing her home because he saw her lying on a concrete floor without anything thick between her back and the floor. She was under a table too which is possible hideout for mosquitoes. It's her way of hiding from us when using my mum's phone.
The daughter's mood was ruined, and the dinner started, my uncle led the prayer thanking the food and soon we had the desserts too.
It was a sumptuous meal we had, native chicken's soup was the best and I had plenty of it. My daughter's mood was restored too and I even caught her sweet smile with my phone camera.
My daughter is happy with what we had and it was more than enough for me. Celebrating her 10th year is worth it and I am very thankful to God for the wonderful gift I had, my daughter, her siblings, my wonderful family and good health.
Simple celebrations could also mean you are grateful to the almighty one.
I am expecting lots of changes in the coming months and years and I hope that my kids would stay loving, kind, hard working and God-fearing.
Life is a roller coaster of happiness, excitement and disappointments but despite all that, always have the source of happiness from the people and things that you love!
This will be all for today, thanks you for your never ending support always!
