Creativity diverts from a desire , a burning desire to know something and to truly understand it, and the desire to truly understand something will lead the creative person to learn faster than their pears , hence why creativity comes hand in hand with intelligence.
The desire isn't always for understanding. it could emerge from wanting to create or build a solution to a problem. Guilford model for creativity included sensitivity to problems as one of the key elements of creativity.

Creativity and mental illness
some studies have shown a link between creativity and mental illness, Particularly mood disorders, specially manic-depressive disorder (a.k.a. bipolar disorder), as also found in some famous writers and artists. Nancy Andreasen was one of the first known researchers to carry out a large scale study revolving around creativity and whether mental illnesses have an impact on someone's ability to be creative.
Originally she had expected to find a link between creativity and schizophrenia but her research sample had no real history of schizophrenia from the book authors she pooled. Her findings instead showed that 80% of the creative group had previously had some form of mental illness episode in their lifetime. As some studies also denied the link between creativity and mood disorders. In my opinion because creativity is linked with desire and dissatisfaction it is linked somehow to how one's is feeling.
How to be more creative?
1.passion
passion changes everything it's the root of Curiosity, and you wouldn't be creative without curiosity in your hand, and you wouldn't be curious unless you can imagine what it will lead you this piece of information.
2.Be a king
creativity comes from what if questions and what if questions comes from someone who seeks better things all the time (dissatisfaction). what if I have a robot who does my job or my own small space rocket or perhaps I don't like how I download things and wait I want my applications to be online and also change the look of that browser!!
3. Dissatisfaction
sensitivity to problems and wanting the best and passion and mental illness always pours down in dissatisfaction of how things are and what they could be even if creativity is positive and looks for the bright side of what could be there is this inner dissatisfaction with the creative person.
