How I Overcame My Own Depression and Regained Control of My Life

Depression is an illness that can be treated and managed. I was diagnosed with depression at the age of twenty-seven, and it took me a long time to recover. I would like to share my story and provide some tips on how to overcome depression.

The first step is recognizing that you have a problem. Depression can feel like an invisible illness; it's hard to pinpoint what is wrong when nothing seems wrong on the outside. But once you're aware of the problem, you can start taking steps towards recovery. The first step in my recovery was finding a therapist who specializes in treating depression and anxiety disorders, which was very important for me because I felt like no one understood what I was going through.

It's also important for people with depression to maintain healthy habits,

It can make it difficult for someone to enjoy life and achieve their goals. It also has physical symptoms such as weight gain or loss, sleeping too much or too little, and feeling tired all the time.

There are many causes of depression. Some people may have a genetic predisposition to depression, while others may experience it after traumatic events such as abuse or the death of a loved one. Depression can also be caused by hormonal changes during puberty or pregnancy, certain medications such as steroids, some medical conditions like chronic pain or heart disease, and substance use like alcohol or drugs.

depression is very dangerous, responsible for 850,000 deaths every year that number is no joke for me, depression cant be seen but its there, I had a not so close friend who experience depression, you can see him smile, never post negative messages on his social media account but everyone put in shock when we heard the news he hang his self, even his family got no clue why, no death note he even don't have love life. but some of his classmates told that he is pressured to academics because he is graduating that time :( depression is a silent killer , all we need is a friend to share everything to ease the pain
