Dealing With Depression Requires Changing Your Thoughts.
"As a Man thinks in his heart, so is he," said the Greatest Teacher who ever lived. What you constantly think about a situation is inevitably what happens to it; therefore, in any and every situation, our thinking should be positive.
If religion, science, and psychology all seem to agree on one thing, it's that the mind is the most powerful force in the world. According to yoga sages, whoever can control his or her mind is a powerful human being.
That being said, it is obvious that when dealing with stress and depressive situations, one should make every effort to think positively as perhaps the first weapon against negative challenges.
Everything, my friends, begins with a thought.
Furthermore, thoughts have the innate ability to materialize into whatever is projected in your mind. As a result, it is safe to say that we should all make every effort to change our mental habits from disbelief to belief as much as possible. This is, of course, the most important consideration when looking for ways to overcome depression.
Depressive thoughts are characterized by feelings of worthlessness, doubt, and pessimism, and if we allow them to constantly permeate our minds, they may gain the ability to diffuse into our speech and actions, thereby exacerbating the very situations and challenges that may be causing depressive thoughts in the first place.
When dealing with depression-related issues, the well-known
According to psychologist William James, "our belief at the start of a doubtful undertaking or challenging situation is the one thing that insures a successful outcome at the end."
This reminds me of another powerful Bible verse found in Mark 4:23: "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
Combining the gist and effect of both quotes, it is clear that it is critical to believe in and expect the best in any situation. You will bring everything into the realm of possibility and success by doing so.
This is not to say that we should sit back and wait for things to change on their own.
It means that we must first change our thought processes about our situations, then take the actions that will lead us to and keep us on the path to success in overcoming our challenges. Additionally, because words, thoughts, and actions all have an effect on each other as factors, it is also advised to constantly speak positively about any challenges one may be facing.
Combining all three factors will greatly assist in ensuring that each component (particularly our thoughts) remains positively tuned toward overcoming our depression.
Although it is not always an easy journey to overcome our obstacles, I would like you to remember this quote as well: "Life's problems are like knives that either serve us or cut us as we grasp them." Grasp a difficulty or problem by the blade and it cuts; grasp it by the handle and you can use it constructively."
Consider the quote above and keep it in mind, my friend, as THE reason to always have faith and hope for the best when dealing with depression. It may be the only thing that ensures success in the end.
