Nijhum Island is a small island in Bangladesh. Nijhum Island under Hatia upazila of Noakhali district. Although it is called an 'island', it is basically a 'char'. Mainly Ballarchar, Char Osman, Kamlar Char and Chur Muri - these four chars combine to form Nijhum Island. The 14,050-acre island was woken up in the 1950s. The Forest Department of Bangladesh started its activities in the seventies. At first four pairs of deer were released experimentally. Nijhum Island is now a deer sanctuary. There are 9 cluster villages on Nijhum Island with an area of ​​about 91 sq km. In the winter season, Nijhum Island becomes a sanctuary for many species of guest birds. Huge area of ​​sedimentary char on Nijhum Island. It sinks in tidal water and dries up at low tide. These places are home to different species of birds. Nijhum Island has Keora trees. The people of Nijhum Island have to rely on low tide to communicate with other regions. If they want to go to Dhaka, they have to leave for Hatiyar after 9 am (tide). After about 2-3 hours the trawler reaches Hatia. Then there is the Dhaka-bound launch, which departs for Dhaka once a day. Since this launch reaches Dhaka via Barisal and Bhola, the people of Nijhum Island can go to Bhola or Barisal by this launch. Apart from this, there are alternative ways to come to Hatia or Dhaka. You have to cross the river from Bandartila to reach Hatia. From there one has to cross different vehicles first to Hatia town and then to Maizdi by launch and then to Dhaka.

Nijhum Island has Nijhum Resort for tourists. Where there is a supply of water and electricity through generators. There are local hotels for food. All in all, Nijhum Island will attract the minds of tourists.
